Tyson (Max)This sweet gentle giant was originally found as a stray in Burbank and spent a good amount of time here. He was friendly with staff and volunteers and was an excellent guest. He was adopted and we thought it was his happily ever after, until someone spotted him at another shelter. We were fortunate enough to have a kennel space for him, and he was picked up from that shelter and brought back here, where he is known and loved by our staff and volunteers. So, let’s try this again! Originally Tyson, but named Max by the last adopters, needs another chance at happiness. He is a mature gentleman, that seems to be house/potty trained and is just looking for a calm, stable, loving, home. He has participated in Play Groups with other dogs, so if you’re looking for a companion for your dog, he might fit the bill. He would also make a good companion for a younger puppy who needs to learn the ways of life from an experienced boy. We are unsure how he is with kids, so a meet and greet is a must, but we suspect he would do okay with respectful children. Help heal this sweet boy’s heart and give him the home he deserves. Ask to see him out of the cage and you can see for yourself how special he is.

A soulful young adult Akita/Siberian Husky mix currently in Roseville, CA, whose essence is a whirlwind of energy wrapped in a majestic tricolor coat and anchored by a loyal, tender heart. Hatchi is a 90-pound oversized teddy bear who’s still adjusting to life with only one working eye, the result of stabilized glaucoma. Though he may see shadows, sudden movements can startle him, especially during walks. Because of this, he thrives with a confident, experienced caregiver who can help him feel grounded and secure. Hatchi is strong on leash and reactive to dogs, cats, bikes, and cars that pass by, so he needs someone who’s comfortable working with large breeds and understands the power of positive reinforcement and patient training. Despite his reactivity, Hatchi is a sweet, snuggly companion at heart. He melts into affection and is eager to please, especially when treats are involved! This intelligent boy responds to his name, is crate trained, house-trained, and has lived harmoniously with young children aged 7 and 8. He may do well with a calm, female dog companion but would not be compatible with cats. Daily life with Hatchi includes administering eye drops, which he’ll need for the rest of his life. Thankfully, his love of treats makes this task pretty manageable. A fenced yard is essential, not because he’s tried to escape, but because his Husky instincts and natural curiosity make outdoor safety a must. Bruce is a slightly older gent has a playful soul and a FOMO vibe, but also some creaky joints (I relate to all of the above). He’s an absolute stunner with his dark eyes and bright fluffy face. He’s overall a gentle guy, but he does get super nosy about what the other dogs are up to. He’s gonna need humans who understand his need for long walks at a leisurely pace, his desire to know what the neighbors are up to, his skill yelling at squirrels to protect the home, and be willing to fulfill their quota for bum scritches daily. He also has some skin issues that will require ongoing care in the form of regular medicated baths and routine check ins with the doctor. He’s been at the shelter for a few months, in part because our medical team was getting on top of creating a care program that they will happily share with his adopters. His age and medical needs means his future humans will need to be a super awesome type- generous of heart and time and with an abundance of love to give. If you think you might fit that bill, or know someone who does, head into the Burbank Animal Shelter and meet Bruce for yourself. You will not regret it. He’s pretty darn wonderful.
