Story
Simba has spent too long waiting for his forever family. 💔 This strong and spirited Akita-Husky mix is full of energy, loves his toys, and is happiest on long walks or playing with his human. He’s sweet, loyal, and ready for the right home. If you’re looking for a dog with personality and heart, Simba is waiting to meet you! 🐕 Adopt Simba: https://form.jotform.com/221926016430144 Full profile: Simba is a 6-8-year-old Akita-Husky mix with the personality of an Akita and the heart of a lion. He’s playful, sweet, and full of energy but needs a confident and strong adopter who understands his needs. 💪 Strength & Training: Simba is powerful and can pull when excited, so he needs someone physically capable of managing his strength. He’s learning commands like sit, down, paw, and “potty” and thrives with structure. A harness might help with his pulling. 🐾 Energy & Personality: Simba is not always a couch potato! He loves long walks (2+ miles is no problem), playing with his toys, and getting plenty of attention. He’s affectionate and cuddly but always ready for adventure. 🏡 Home Needs: Simba would do best in a home without small children due to his strength and energy. He’s good with other dogs, especially more timid ones, but does best with boundaries around toys and space. He’s also quite the counter-surfer, so keeping things out of reach is key! 🐕 Health: Simba has a thyroid condition that is managed with treatment, giving him renewed energy and playfulness. Simba has had a lot of love and care from his foster, but he’s ready to find his forever home. If you’re looking for a strong, loyal, and playful companion, Simba could be your perfect match. 💙 Ready to meet Simba? Apply to adopt him and give this big-hearted boy the home he deserves. 📌 Share to help Simba find his forever home Currently being cared in Southern California, but can be transported up to northern states, such as Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and anywhere within the US continental, if a great suitable family is willing to adopt him.

Athena is a sweet, older Akita with a calm and gentle demeanor. She enjoys a quieter lifestyle and would do best in a home that appreciates her relaxed, affectionate nature. She would be a wonderful match for someone seeking a mature,, easygoing dog. Athena is recommended for a family without children or with kids at least 10 years of age, and if considered for a multi-dog household, a meet at the shelter will be required prior to departure to be sure that Athena is relaxed and open to her new friend. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 79.25 Age: 7yrs 6mths 3wks

Story
Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! What we know: Transferred from Humane Society of Pikes Peak at 10 weeks old. Litter of 7 was surrendered by owner, who stated that a stray dog got into his yard and got his dog pregnant. Six of the puppies were mostly healthy, though underweight, and Spot was is poor condition with potential ruptured globes and eyelids barely open, extremely underweight. Shelter requested to transfer him separately as a result. Mom dog was reported by owner as Akita, dad as lab. Name at intake was Lemon, foster calls him Spot. UPDATE: Spot's examination revealed significant scarring and iris adhesions in the right eye, likely from a previous corneal perforation. This limits his field of view in that eye but does not cause blindness. The left eye has mild, resolving cloudiness (puppy dystrophy) that is not affecting his vision. No treatment is required at this time. Future monitoring of his eye pressures is recommended. From the foster: Meet Spot! Spot is a very playful pup who is equally happy doing the following hobbies: eating, sleeping, chewing, playing and rough housing with his foster siblings. Eating: Spot is not a picky eater. He has a healthy appetite and equally healthy poops. He is food motivated and loves to eat all kinds of dog treats. Crate: He sleeps just fine in his crate. He will cry for a few moments, then he calms down. At night, it has helped to put a blanket over the crate to help him relax. After he wakes up (around 5:00 am to go potty with his sister) he will then come down to snuggle on the daybed. He sleeps well in both crate and in a bed. Chewing: He is deep into his velociraptor phase. He does try to chew on your clothes and hands. We have been saying a firm “NO” and then placing an appropriate item to chew and praise him “chew. Good boy”. We put him on the floor when we don’t have something to chew on so that way he doesn’t get attention for chewing, but the floor is literally full of toys to chew on. He loves both hard objects such as Nyla bones as well as the squeaky and crinkly toys. Potty Training: Spot is still learning to go outside. He is currently in a male diaper as he has had a few accidents. He will wait by the door, but he won’t cry to go outside. He does need a little time to find his potty routine for sure. Spot does well with other pups. He would love to have one to play with. He is such a wonderful and loving companion. He’s so soft, you can literally just snuggle and pet him all day if he would let you. He is 💯 good boy! www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt

Story
Leigh is a very sweet girl who never learned to communicate with other dogs. We lost my partner to cancer when Leigh was nine months old. She was never socialized well and became very unpredictable around other dogs in our home. She loves to play fetch, go on walks, and play in the snow. She has not spent time with children.
