At 5.5 years old, he recently road-tripped all the way from Mexico with a partner shelter, along with several other dogs who are also adoptable and now in our care. Vladimir is currently thriving in our co-housing program, doing well with other dogs, and is ready to meet a forever family. Cats can be tested upon request. Dakota is a handsome name, kind of a "rugged" kind of name, right?? I am kind of a REFINED RUGGED kind of boy! For instance, I am a busy boy, I love playing and running with my doggy friends, however, I can lay at your feet very sweetly to beg for your attention. I am kind of like a "reverse" planter as well. I mean, you plant it and i will un-plant it for you :D I won't do it often, just when I want your attention and I am outside alone. So see?? you have great control over that urge! So I am a food and toy lover too, I eat out of a slow feeder bowl because wolfing down my food is not an option! I am learning all things toys and am actually learning how to bring the ball BACK after you throw it. I am a smart and very sweet boy. I do absolutely have a prey drive so no kitties for small furry mammals around me please. I am fully potty trained and great in a crate. Now i just need you to adopt me to complete my circle of life. Now, before you go all "Lion King" on me, just know that I will be your bestest buddy forever!! I am two VERY loyal breeds and once I know you are my family, you will have my unending love :) Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)

Hi! My name is Molly! I`m an Akita mix but think like a teddy bear. I came to the shelter as a stray with my friend Hershey. I came in first and didn`t do well by myself. I was sad and confused not knowing why Hershey didn`t come with. It didn`t take long though. Hershey likes to run and got away from our owner again. I was excited to see him and was back to my bouncing self. We need to go home to our new home together!Ask about us today!

Hello! This is Appa he is a sweet 4.5 year old American Akita. His birthday is May 11, 2021. I originally got him from a breeder in Dallas,TX when he was 8 weeks old. He is such a loving dog and is the friendliest Akita ever when it comes to meeting new people. I no longer have a cat, but he grew up around a one and never had any issues with him. He is a pretty independent dog which is normal for the breed, but he is a super sweet boy that loves getting pets. He gets along well with most female dogs. I would highly advise against having him live with another male dog due to the natural same sex aggression that is seen in this breed. He is well behaved and knows all of his obedience commands, although in typical Akita fashion he may pick and choose how quickly he listens. He's honestly an amazing dog, but due to life changes and circumstances it would be best for him to be rehomed. He is up to date on all of his shots, and currently takes simparico trio.

Beau is a stunning,Akita (best guess) mix puppy with an approximate date of birth in mid-November 2025—and he’s already well on his way to stealing hearts everywhere he goes. Along with his good looks, Beau is incredibly smart, sweet, and full of puppy charm. That said, Beau is still very much a puppy. He’s doing well with house training and continuing to learn that pottying outside is the goal. The good news? He loves the cold and snow, so winter adventures are right up his alley—if you’re looking for a winter puppy, Beau is your guy. Beau isn’t a huge fan of the crate just yet, but he’s making progress and learning that it’s not such a bad place. He sleeps through the night, which is a big win for any puppy parent. He gets along great with his foster brothers and sisters, including dogs and cats, and has been living successfully with an older child. Because Beau is young and still explores the world with his mouth , he is looking for a home with children ages 10 and older who can understand puppy boundaries and training. We also prefer a home with a securely fenced in yard and an active family who are home often to help him grow into a happy social adult Beau is an active, playful pup who will thrive with a family committed to continued training, exercise, and structure.
