Story
Unlike some breeds that may lean towards being overly needy, Lucy strikes a perfect balance between independence and companionship. She understands when it's time to play and shower her family with affection but also appreciates her moments of solitude, making her an ideal match for those who seek a loving canine companion without the constant demand for attention. Her perfect home will have NO other animals in it, older children who are dog savvy when it comes to understanding the importance of caution around open doors and gates. Her home will have a secure fenced yard, that she can safely play in and savvy owners who will put some serious time into training her. In summary, Lucy, is a smart and sweet canine companion who will brings joy, loyalty, and a perfect balance of independence to her forever home.

FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOMES NEEDED!! ***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form*** We would love to welcome Haven into the Fetch + Releash family April 14th, 2024 (subject to change). In order for Haven to come into our care, we need a committed family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you'll be expected to take him/her home on his/her arrival date. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found. Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog's nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions. Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet in Mississauga, ON for further vet care. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you'll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit. Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Haven / Female / 3.5 years / 85 pounds / Akita Mix / from Tennessee At first glance, Miss Haven's imposing appearance may lead you to misjudge her, but this gentle giant is nothing short of a sweetheart. She always seems at peace, often found lounging in her dog house or basking in the sun on a cot. Miss Haven takes life at her own leisurely pace, happily trailing along by your side like a devoted companion. She shares a heartwarming connection with her pen mate, another large dog named Frankie, whom she was discovered alongside as a stray. They have a lovely bond, often snuggling together at night in their cozy dog house. While we can't be certain of her previous training, Miss Haven's lovely temperament suggests she'll adapt quickly to a new home. Her calm and quiet nature makes her a perfect match for a serene environment. Having only known the tranquility of rural life, bustling city or condo/apartment living wouldn't be her ideal setting. The occasional chaos on the farm makes her a bit uneasy, so she thrives in a peaceful setting. Expect to take Haven on two leisurely walks per day, she has great leash manners. Or ensure she has access to a secure yard to let her have a sniff about and do her business. An adjustment period with house training is to be expected as she adjust to her new routine. We are unsure if she is crate trained but expect she would do fine with free roam as long as she doesn't have access to anything that could harm her. Miss Haven is used to having her own space and would be an excellent companion for another balanced dog with a similar laid-back personality. During meal times, it's best to feed her separately, as she's been known to guard her food, mostly when her pen mate is nearby. This is not an issue with people, and with time and a consistent routine, she'll learn to relax, free from any worries about going hungry again. Miss Haven asks you not to judge a book by its cover. Beneath her bold exterior, she's a loving, gentle soul, yearning for a family that will see the extraordinary beauty and kindness within her. Miss Haven can't wait to bring serenity, love, and unwavering loyalty to your life. Haven tested positive for Ehrlichia which is a common tick-borne disease that stays in the bloodstream for many years. This has been treated, and moving forward regular yearly bloodwork would be recommended. Although this should not cause any issues moving forward, it's important that if Haven required surgery or a dental, pre-operative blood work (CBC+Platelet count) are completed beforehand. If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Haven's adoption fee is $850. Story
Blitz is so handsome that you can't help but swoon at the sight of him. He is the full monty, brains and beauty all under that glorious fur. Coming to us as a stray we do know he fancies himself a bit of a ladies male with the girls here at the shelter. He would do well with a female dog in the home, no cats or small dogs. He seems to enjoy older respectful children and he will need active owners who want to make sure he gains some structure and manners in his new home, along with making sure he gets rid of that energy daily. When you are out with this guy be prepared to be stopped so that others may also swoon!
