Story
Meet Momo, a 7-year-old Alaskan Malamute who found his way into West Valley Humane Society when his previous owner relocated. Momo is described as loving, friendly, always ready for a good tail wagging and enjoys nothing more than snuggling up and spending quality time together. He's not just a cuddle bug though - Momo is also incredibly intelligent and loves to play. He's a pro in the car and on walks, making outings a breeze. We recommend a meet and greet with your current pets, and we believe Momo would thrive in a home with children aged 8 years and older, where he can feel safe and loved. Momo will need an indoor home and a secure containment area to stay safe from wandering and escaping. Positive reinforcement, fear-free training will be needed. Daily exercise and mental enrichment will be very important.Momo is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, neutered, and ready to go home today. The shelter is currently open by appointment only. Story
Hi, I’m Olaf, and I like warm hugs 🙂 I’m a 5 and half year old male Alaskan Malamute with the largest personality! Unfortunately my pawrents couldn’t keep me once a little hooman came into the mix. To be honest, it was a very difficult time for all of us but we think we made the best choice so I can live my life to the fullest. And I like to live to the fullest daily! I like to go on daily walks with a good mountain hike sprinkled in when able (doesn’t matter the season), enjoy a good snooze session while watching TV, and play fetch with any type of ball. I apparently am a rare mal in the fact that I LOVE to play fetch and 80% of the time bring it back to you. Sometimes I even get the zoomies because I love to play fetch so much, especially if you cheer me on and clap with your hands, it’s like I’m the world champion of fetch! The other thing that floats my boat is going for car rides. There is nothing better than a good old ride in the car. I like my window down for some fresh air to blow through my fur. I’ve been to quite a few states but my longest road trip so far was 15 hours. Like I said, I love road trips as long as I get a few potty breaks along the way. I think it’s also fun to stay in hotels. I wasn’t allowed on furniture with my old pawrents, but they were suckers in hotels and let me on the bed. I liked to be snuggling with them for maybe 5-10 minutes, but then I get too warm and go find a cool corner to sprawl around with my legs in the air – typical mal comfort style! As per most northern breeds, I can’t get enough of the snow – my name is Olaf after all. My pawrents used to take me skiing and I would happily wait for them sitting in the truck with breaks throughout the day. After they finished skiing, I knew it was my time to enjoy the snow. Thanks to my 50 foot leash (because I can’t be trusted off leash), I would go prance around in the deep powder and have the biggest smile on my face!! Snow and water are so fun to play in. I consider myself a part maligator. I say part because I don’t like to swim (even if I have a life jacket on), I just like to wade in the water. If I can’t touch the bottom, no way am I going any farther in the water, not even for a toy. I’ll wait until the waves bring the toy back to the shore. In my future home, I’d like to be the king of kings so it’s best I’m an only pup. It’s not that I don’t get along with other dogs, but I can be a bit touchy. It also doesn’t help I was attacked by an off leash golden retriever on three separate occasions(!!!) so I like to play some defense. Another thing I think my future home needs to know is that I thoroughly enjoy treats and am very food motivated. Some of my favorites include steak, eggs, romaine lettuce, carrots, and watermelon. The crunchy vegetables are just so tasty but once I see a watermelon, I am your best friend. My pawrents have found the only way they can brush my never ending furry coat is to entice and distract me with treats. Sometimes I just soak up all the snuggles, and other times I like my personal bubble which is why I would do best in a home with no children or older children that can respect my boundaries. The first 1.5 years of my life weren’t the best and then I had the most amazing 4 years with my pawrents. I’m hopeful that my next family can truly just spoil me, I think I deserve it. I love being part of the family and going everywhere with you! I also just finished a two week board and train program that helped me learn how to walk on a leash (still need some help). I know basic commands such as sit, down, roll over (only in grass), shake, high-five, wait, break, go to bed, nd load up. I was getting fed in my crate, but I don’t really love it. I can become impatient so maybe you can help me with that but really I’d rather just relax next to you or in the same room as you. I should also mention, the more belly rubs the better. While watching some TV, I’ll lay right next to you and be in the perfect spot for some soothing belly rubs. Unless there’s an animal on the TV, then I’m completely zoned in watching. My favorite is the nature shows – I like to get as close to the TV as I can when I see animals. I’m up to date on all my vaccines and am neutered. I’m really a diamond in the rough when it comes to malamutes. I’m smart, have an incredible personality, and truly LOVE on my people. Story
Long ago in the Wild and Woolly West, there was an outlaw called the Sundance Kid. Just like the story line from a Hollywood movie, I wandered into some trouble with the law and landed myself in doggie jail. I guess loitering is frowned upon if you are a dog! And just in case you hadn’t noticed, I liked the name Sundance, so it stuck! I am rakishly handsome just like the guy in the movie, so Sundance is perfect. Some awesome, pawsome people have jumped on the bandwagon to take care of me and I know the best is yet to come! Since no history is available about me, they are guessing I might be about 3-4 years old. I am loveable, playful and very focused on any person who wants to show me attention and love! I get a little rambunctious when I meet a new human (in a friendly way), so training is recommended to teach me I can’t always jump up to give you a kiss and a hug. I am going through the normal Moonsong protocol to get updated on vaccinations, get tutored, and ready to meet a new family. When I went to the doctor, they had a cat in the office and I didn’t react at all to the kitty. Maybe, just maybe, I would be good with a kitty that knows how to be around big boys like me. With proper introductions I should be good with dogs similar in size. Children should be 8 years + since I am a rather large and strong boy. I promise to give up my outlaw ways and stay right by your side if you promise to be my loyal family. Sound like a deal? Located in Nephi, Utah. Story
Hello everyone, my name is Cocoa. I am a beautiful malamute, and I am looking forward to my 4th birthday party in April. I am hoping you can be the one to celebrate my big day and give me doggie birthday cake! Both of my beloved humans have developed some serious health issues and must find a new home for me. They are so sad, but know Moonsong will do their best! I love to play with balls and sticks, and when we are in the house my favorite place is on your feet. Don’t move them, I will just sit on them again. 😊 I probably would do best in a home where I can be the only princess, but I also really enjoy doggy daycare. How about this: I have an inclination to like kitties. Not in a bad way! If you have a dog-wise cat, it might work. My neighbors had a kitty I liked to visit with. I like to sleep inside at night, and I am house trained, and am doing great with crate training in the house. When we go for car rides, I ride in a crate. Like all malamutes, I am a strong girl, and pull a bit on the leash, but once I settle down, I am great. Moonsong says I would be good with children 8 and older (due to my size). I am spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and am microchipped. Please consider taking me into your home so we can celebrate my birthday together! Available to Adopters in Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah & Northern Nevada.

Story
Good day folks! Arrow here. Just like my name, I aim to be pointed in the direction of my furever home. I came in as a stray and Moonsong rescued me in the nick of time. As you can see, I am one big handsome dude! My personality has been revealing that I am a cautious sweet boy who just needs someone to help show me the ropes. Slow introductions to hoomanes is a must. It helps me get to know you on my terms. There is no doubt that If you’re calm and patient with me, I will eventually become your best furry friend. Lately, I have been learning leash walking skills. I thoroughly enjoy my walk-about’s and I am good about not pulling. I even passed by some chickens without even missing a beat! One thing that really motivates me is treats! I will sit nicely and even take the treat with a soft mouth. It may be that in my previous life, I didn’t get a lot of exposure being around other pups. Big male dogs are a bit intimidating to me. Although I am learning that the ladies can be my friends. A large, friendly, confident female would suit me best. Or, being the only doggo in the home would work well for me too. My dream home would be having hoomanes committed to helping me flourish to my true potential and help me find out that the big o’l world out there is safe place. Story
If you’re looking for a sweet cuddle bug, then look no further. I’m a young relaxed Mal Husky mix that is cool as a cucumber. I was a long time resident at the shelter and running out of time. Thankfully, folks realized what a gem I was and freedom became my reality. For now, I will be biding my time in a wonderful foster home while I await my furever home. Here’s the scoop – small dogs and wee critters are not my thing. But, playing with my husky bro and sis definitely are. And get this, I am exceptionally chill in the car and I love boat rides! That’s right people, you heard me. I thoroughly enjoy cruising on the water and I’ll make a mighty fine chilled first mate on any boat. My unique qualities don’t end there. I even enjoy playing fetch! They tell me I’m exceptionally engaged and in tune with my hoomanes. In other words, I’m perceptive, clever and quick to learn verbal commands. If you happen to have kiddos, I can be good with them as long as they are respectful of me. I am envisioning an active, fun loving home. Just think of all the wonderful adventures we could have together! I’m pretty much a turnkey pup. So make a run for it and contact my person for more information. Or better yet, fill out the online application. I will be waiting for woo! Available for Adoption in Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah & Northern Nevada.
