Story
Violet came to us from a kill shelter with Diesel who is also available for adoption. Violet is a young, bouncy, happy girl, who is ready for family to love her. She could live with another male companion in the home but would also be just as happy being the only dog in the home where she can get all the attention she deserves. Violet is a sweet, affectionate, smaller girl at 60lbs. and approximately a year and a half old. She is looking for a family with a fenced in yard and no small animals please. *********************************** If you are interested in ADOPTING or FOSTERING, please complete an application by cutting & pasting the following link: https://form.jotform.com/60794585351161 Or visit CHAAMP.org to access the Adoption/Foster link and learn about the process. https://www.chaamp.org/adoption-process Your application tells us about your lifestyle and helps us find a potential match for you and your family. We are happy to work with you. For example, if you don't have a fence, we can help find alternatives and/or a dog that will do well without a fence. A home visit is required prior to adoption/fostering. You can visit the malamute(s) once you've completed the process. Alternatively, you may volunteer and learn how rewards-based training brings out the best in malamutes. ********************************* CHAAMP accepts applications from Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington DC. ADOPTION FEES ~Senior dogs (8+ years old): $100.00 ~Adult dogs (2 years up to 8): $300.00 ~Puppies (6 months - 2 years): $350.00 ~Puppies under 6 months: $375 All Malamutes are microchipped, spayed/neutered, and up-to-date on vaccines. Puppy fees are higher due to more vet visits and vaccines. The adoption fee helps us cover these costs. ********************************* We highly recommend the following links that you will need to cut and paste: Kathy Sdao’s SMART x 50 (Capture & Reward Good Behavior) https://babysafedogtraining.com/kathy-sdaos-smart-x-50-another-way-to-use-1000-treats/ Building Your Dog's Confidence by Victoria Stilwell (FREE Online Course) https://www.vsdogtrainingacademy.com/enroll/demo/ Shy Adopters Guide https://www.shelterdogplay.org/_files/ugd/7c885c_2f9fe1f87ea24376912b6e0b18e41998.pdf ********************************* CHAAMP is not a shelter and is run by 100% volunteers. Story
Carson came to us from a puppy mill farm that closed down. He lived in a 10x10 run since he was a puppy with little human interaction. He is shy and timid but has learned so much in the little bit of time we have had him. He is a sweet deserving guy that will blossom with a patient family that can introduce him to life outside of a 10x10 run. He is looking for stability and someone to love. He would benefit from living with a female dog companion who can help show him what home life is like.

Story
Jasmine is a surrendered puppy mill mom. We want to give her a chance to experience real love with a family. She is affectionate and loves to be loved! She is around 8 years old and is learning what it's like to be outside of a barn stall and walking on a leash. She loves her newfound freedom and is such a sweet girl. She loves to go for walks and check out all the new sights, sounds, and to find critters. She has a harness and has lots of fun exploring and going on sniffing adventures with a human on the other end of the leash. It is very exciting! She is just so happy to be out. She has never lived in a home and will need her human to show her the luxury of being an indoor companion.

Story
Meet Rocky! Rocky came to us in 2023 as part of a humane case. Rocky is now ready to have a fresh start! Rocky is a big guy with an even bigger personality. This playful fluffball loves nothing more than running around and playing with toys! He loves to chase after stuffies and carry them around. Once he is comfortable with you, Rocky is a ball of love. He loves to roll around and get belly rubs and will bring his toys over to play! Rocky has done well with grooming when done in little bits at a time. He enjoys being outside and has a blast simply sniffing out new smells. Rocky will need to learn some basic commands, and some leash training as he can pull a little. Rocky has lived with other dogs and does well with them. We have noticed he does better with female and more submissive dogs. While at the shelter Rocky has done well with cats but does not do well in a home environment with them. At this time we are recommending he be in a cat-free forever home. We would recommend a home with older children because Rocky spooks easily. Rocky can be a bit cautious of seeing new people, especially men, so he will need a patient home where he can build his confidence when meeting new people! If Rocky sounds like the perfect dog for you, please fill out an application for him today! Rocky is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped

K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/. Story
www.huskyrescueteam.org    If you have additional questions please email info@huskyrescueteam.org Lyra is a 4 1/2 year old Alaskan Malamute who found herself in a Maryland shelter FIVE times in 4 years. Each time she was picked up as a stray and brought to the shelter, she had the same owner. She was reclaimed four times. But this time she was not reclaimed and made rescue only due to multiple impoundments. We wanted stability for Lyra so we brought her into our program. We have since learned her former owner allowed her to free roam. Lyra has been picked up by neighbors on several busy streets and even seen on the interstate! We're told she has lived with children, dogs of all sizes, and cats. She likes the male dog in her foster home but not the female Husky. She'd also be fine, and maybe even prefer, to be an only dog.   Initially she was a bit leery meeting new people but she soon realized she's among Northern Breed folks who understand her Mally ways. We've earned her trust and have taught her appropriate boundaries - none of which she's had before.   Malamutes are different than Huskies. A Husky wants to be everyone's best friend. Mals are loyal to their people and you have to earn that loyalty. Lyra will need a patient owner who understands how to build mutual respect. She is a big girl who loves even bigger. She goes belly up for pets and loves to use her paws to express when she wants you to love her. She gives sweet kisses and is a fairly mellow girl. She is strong on a leash and has a deep voice. She's completely house trained and not destructive in the home. She's not a fan of having her paws handled but now allows for brushing by a trusted volunteer.   Lyra is not likely to enjoy a busy home with young children. Her speed is more the middle-aged/senior living, even though she's still a young dog. But she will need someone who can manage her on a leash. She's a bit strong starting out but quickly falls in stride. Lyra is also good in the car and willingly jumps in, ready to go. She's spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines and healthy. Lyra is located in MD.   Transport within the Eastern US is available for the right home.     ~~Husky Education And Rescue Team is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you’re interested in. If you’re still interested in adopting from our rescue the first step is to complete our adoption application online at www.huskyrescueteam.org/apply     If you have additional questions please email  info@huskyrescueteam.orgMay 24, 2025, 10:52 am
