Story
Carson came to us from a puppy mill farm that closed down. He lived in a 10x10 run since he was a puppy with little human interaction. He is shy and timid but has learned so much in the little bit of time we have had him. He is a sweet deserving guy that will blossom with a patient family that can introduce him to life outside of a 10x10 run. He is looking for stability and someone to love. He would benefit from living with a female dog companion who can help show him what home life is like.

Story
Meet Rocky! Rocky came to us in 2023 as part of a humane case. Rocky is now ready to have a fresh start! Rocky is a big guy with an even bigger personality. This playful fluffball loves nothing more than running around and playing with toys! He loves to chase after stuffies and carry them around. Once he is comfortable with you, Rocky is a ball of love. He loves to roll around and get belly rubs and will bring his toys over to play! Rocky has done well with grooming when done in little bits at a time. He enjoys being outside and has a blast simply sniffing out new smells. Rocky will need to learn some basic commands, and some leash training as he can pull a little. Rocky has lived with other dogs and does well with them. We have noticed he does better with female and more submissive dogs. While at the shelter Rocky has done well with cats but does not do well in a home environment with them. At this time we are recommending he be in a cat-free forever home. We would recommend a home with older children because Rocky spooks easily. Rocky can be a bit cautious of seeing new people, especially men, so he will need a patient home where he can build his confidence when meeting new people! If Rocky sounds like the perfect dog for you, please fill out an application for him today! Rocky is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped

Story
Meet Silas! This sweet hearted pooch unfortunately came to us because his family could no longer keep him. While he is very nervous at first he is very sweet and affectionate once he warms up. He will need a home that is experienced with escapist as he tends to try to flee. We ask that any children in the home be 10+ due to his nervousness and some guarding behaviors. He may do well with another dog who is calm and confident to help him with his nervousness. He unfortunately has significant prey drive and can not go to a home with cats or small animals.Does he sound like a good fit for your home?! Then come down and meet this handsome dog.---If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared --bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org

Story
Meet Maxx, a handsome and energetic young dog who carries the intelligence and independent spirit of his Alaskan Malamute heritage in a unique, less-fluffy package. Weighing around 75 pounds, this one-year-old is ready to bring his loyal and playful personality to a forever home.Maxx is a dog with character. He loves plush toys and squeakers, staring at his reflection, and a good game of basketball. He is an independent companion who appreciates his own space but is always ready to lend a helping paw, whether it be by pushing open doors to help bring in groceries or ringing the doorbell. His most endearing trait is the warm, cuddly welcome he gives when his people return home.He has a fantastic foundation thanks to his foster family. Maxx is house-trained, crate-trained (and prefers to sleep in his crate even with the door wide open), and knows basic commands like `sit` and `stop.` He loves his walks and is making great progress on leash manners, though he will do best with a confident walker who can continue his training. He has been good with older children and shows a playful curiosity toward other dogs on walks.Maxx is looking for an active, patient family who can provide him with the love and structure he needs to truly thrive. If you are ready for a devoted and wonderful companion, ask about Maxx today!Maxx is located in Houston, Tx and can be transported to most states for $300.00

Story
Meet this handsome guy! This 6-year-old neutered male Akita is a big love with an even bigger heart. One of his favorite things? Giving hugs — he’s affectionate, loyal, and enjoys being close to his people. He walks well on a leash and carries himself with the calm confidence Akitas are known for. True to his breed, he is not your typical first-time dog owner dog and would do best with someone who understands (or is eager to learn about) the Akita personality and appreciates a strong, independent companion. If you’re looking for a devoted, dignified dog who bonds deeply and shows his love in the sweetest ways, this guy may be your perfect match. If you are interested in meeting Domino, please visit the shelter during our open hours; Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 10a-12p & 2p-4p, Thurs 10a-12p & 2p-5:30p, and Saturday 9a-1p.If you do not own your home, bring consent from the property owner to have a dog on the property. Story
Meet Theresa, a beautiful 3-year-old Akita with a quiet elegance and a gentle heart. She came to us as a stray, and while her past is a bit of a mystery, her personality is slowly shining through. Theresa is friendly and affectionate with people she knows and trusts. New situations can be a little overwhelming for her—she can be nervous around loud noises and is still learning to feel comfortable walking on a leash. With patience, consistency, and reassurance, she continues to make progress every day. Because of her sensitive nature, Theresa would do best in a calm home with someone who has Akita experience and understands the value of going at her pace. Given time to settle in and feel secure, she has the potential to be a deeply loyal and loving companion. If you’re looking for a graceful soul who just needs patience and understanding to truly blossom, Theresa may be the perfect match. Theresa has currently came back from a foster home and has been with a dog and horses and has done well. She is housebroken and loves children. If you are interested in meeting Theresa, please visit the shelter during our open hours; Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 10a-12:30p & 2p-4p, Thurs 10a-12:30p & 2p-6:30p, and Saturday 9a-1p.
