Story
Leena is 3 years old. She is a gentle, playful, obedient girl who gets along with our other dog (Lemmy, a 3-year old, 16-lb male Pomchi, also up for adoption). Leena is half Alaskan Malimute, half Husky, weighing 75 pounds. Her official breed is Alusky. She has one blue eye and one brown eye. Like most all Huskys, she is very communicative. Leena also gets along with both of our cats, Larry and Lu-lu (also up for adoption). My husband and I will be moving to a senior community where pets are not allowed, and we must adopt out all of our pets. We want to see them all go to good homes. We will not charge any adoption fees.

Story
Hi Friends! My name is Skylar because for me, the sky is the limit! I am an almost 5-year-old, female, Alaskan Malamute, please don't confuse me for a husky - while we have a lot of similar qualities - I'm convinced that being a Malamute is where it's at! I weigh in right at about 100lbs, and I've been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and I'm up to date on my heartworm testing. I am looking for a furever home that understands large breeds like me and is aware of my grooming needs - I'm a high maintenance girl and I'll need lots of spa days every year! I should mention, kids, cats, and other dogs - they just aren't for me. I want all the attention to myself. I know lots of tricks - sit, down, shake, and even speak! I'm potty trained! When I'm not enjoying snacks, or long walks outside, I am a bit of a couch potato and love to snuggle. I'm so ready to settle in with a new family. I am available to meet Tuesday - Saturday from 10am-6pm. If you have questions about how much I shed, or what my favorite smelling shampoo is - please reach out to my friends at AVAS. Email them at AVASCares2@gmail.com or by phone at 989-348-4117. I hope I get to meet you soon and show you all my tricks!

Story
Hi Friends! My name is Rocket! I'll get straight to the point - I'm handsome, smart, and I'm here sending out a signal that I'm ready to find my furever home! I am an almost 6.5-year-old, male, Alaskan Malamute, please don't confuse me for a husky - while we have a lot of similar qualities - I'm convinced that being a Malamute is where it's at! I weigh in right at about 90lbs, and I've been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and I'm up to date on my heartworm testing. I am looking for a furever home that understands large breeds like me, and is aware of my grooming needs - I'm a high maintenance dude and I'll need lots of spa days every year! I should also mention that kids, cats, and other dogs aren't really my style. I'm an independent man that's looking for humans to call my own, and hoping there is a home out there that will let me embrace my independence and share a life with you. I'm not the type of dog that's constantly seeking out your affection. While I enjoy long walks, lounging in the backyard, and treats, I just want to be a companion. I'm a strong & silent type of guy. I'm very smart, and I will work for food. I'm potty trained! A low activity household where I can lounge around and prepare to enjoy my golden years would be a dream come true for me. Like my name suggests, I'm a rocket shooting for the moon, but willing to land amongst the stars. I am available to meet Tuesday - Saturday from 10am-6pm. If you have questions about how much I shed, or what my boundaries are - please reach out to my friends at AVAS. Email them at AVASCares2@gmail.com or by phone at 989-348-4117. I hope I get to meet you soon!

Story
I know what you’re thinking… “Wow. Does this guy belong in the mountains cruising around in a Jeep, hiking all day and hitting a brewery after with his human?” Or maybe you were thinking I’m a model. Either way… thank you 😌 My name is Legend, and why yes I live up to it. I’m a 2-year-old, medium-large boy with a big heart and even bigger personality. My foster mom did my DNA test, and here’s what makes me me: • 60% Siberian Husky • 23% Alaskan Malamute • 6% Border Collie • 6% Chow Chow • 5% Akita I got my name because I was dumped at my foster mom and dad’s gym “Iron Legend” and from that day on, I became their legend too. My Home Life I currently live with four dogs: • A 14-year-old Yorkie • A 3-year-old Yorkie • A 10-year-old Aussie • A 4-year-old Cattle Dog I also live with cats, and honestly? They hate me. I try. They give me the “two-piece combo” regularly. I still believe one day they’ll love me. (A house without a indoor cat would be the best fit for him) My Favorite Things • Car rides (shotgun preferred) • Coffee shop hangs with my humans • Hiking & exploring outdoors • TOYS (I had my first Christmas ever and went wild) • Sleeping in bed & watching TV at night • Stranger Things is my show—what’s yours? • Bananas (10/10 snack) Training & Personality I’m working on leash training not my fault squirrels exist. I love walks, learning new things, and I’m still very puppy. I am: • A huge cuddle bug • Very human-oriented • A goofy, happy boy • Treat-motivated and eager to learn • Known to jump like a dolphin at dinner time 🐬 I thrive with structure, consistency, and someone who enjoys being active and cozy. Legend’s Ideal Home Checklist ✔️ Active household (hiking, walking, adventures encouraged) ✔️ Someone who enjoys training and bonding ✔️ A home that understands husky mixes = personality ✔️ Would do great with another playful dog or as your one-and-only adventure buddy ✔️ Couch cuddles + outdoor time = perfect balance ✔️ Patient humans who will keep helping me learn Legend is being fostered in Houston Texas but is available for adoption many places across the country. The adoption fee includes transport.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Baron is a majestic Husky/Malamute mix, now 4 years old and neutered, looking for a very specific, experienced home that understands northern breeds and their unique needs. He is intelligent, loyal, and deeply bonded to his people. He thrives with structure, routine, and calm, confident leadership, and does best in a predictable environment with clear boundaries. An ideal home would be with someone who is home the majority of the time and has prior experience with Husky, Malamute, or similar working breeds. This is not a first-time dog. A strong understanding of canine behavior and ongoing training is essential. He would do best with a female dog or a very passive, neutral dog, with proper introductions and continued structure. He is not a fit for homes with cats, small dogs, or children under 15. Baron has a managed thyroid condition, and his veterinary care plays an important role in supporting both his medical needs and behavioral quirks. For his best interest, care should continue with his current veterinarian located in Waterford, as consistency has been critical to his progress and ongoing success. Coat care requires more than typical grooming maintenance. His wooly husky–type coat is prone to matting and requires frequent, gentle brushing. Because he does not enjoy long grooming sessions, care is best managed through short, positive brushing sessions incorporated into a regular routine, with guidance and support from his veterinary team. Due to crate anxiety, traditional kennel use is not appropriate. His future home must be comfortable managing space safely without crating and understand alternative confinement and decompression strategies. While affectionate and loving, he does have some quirks typical of northern breeds, including resource guarding with high-value food or treats. An experienced home that understands management, boundaries, and continued behavioral support is required. Baron is not an easy dog, but he is a deeply rewarding one. For the right, committed adopter, he offers a loyal, meaningful bond built on trust and partnership. If you feel you may be a good match and are interested in adopting Baron, please complete an application.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. January 14, 2026, 1:53 pm
