Name: Baby Gorl Breed Guess: Malamute mix Age: 8 years old Gender: Spayed Female Weight Guess: 70 pounds (overweight) Adoption fee: $350 Am I good with: Children: 5+ Cats: Will test upon request Dogs: Yes, Meet and Greet Required About me: Hi, I'm a big, fluffy dog with an even bigger heart! I'm a bit on the chunky side right now (okay, a lot), so I'm looking for someone who can help me get back into shape with gentle walks and a healthy routine. I'm a friendly, laid back girl who loves attention and would be so happy to have a cozy home to call my own! I've been at the ARP since 6/15/25 and I'm is currently located at the shelter. The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.

Story
Kida is a loving, loyal companion in search of a forever home where she can be the only pet. She’s about 4 years old and has been with our family since she was a puppy. While she’s always been wonderful with people, she has unfortunately become increasingly aggressive toward our other dogs, including those she grew up with. Kida thrives in a calm, structured environment where she can be the center of attention. She’s completed multiple training programs and responds well to commands. Despite her size, she still thinks she’s a lap dog and adores cuddling. She’s especially gentle with our 2-year-old child—snuggling and playing with her every day. This sweet girl deserves a home where she can be the only animal and receive the one-on-one love and attention she needs to truly thrive. She has so much love to give and just needs a fair chance at the happy life she deserves. If you’re looking for a devoted, affectionate companion and don’t have other pets, Kida could be the perfect additio

Story
My name is Riley, and I'm a sweet young dog who is looking for a home where I can be the puppy that I am. I'm technically still a puppy, so I will need some training, but I'm a really smart girl! I am a bit shy at first and can be unsure of new people and situations, but I do warm up quickly. I love belly rubs and toys. Please consider adopting me!  Likes Dogs: SomeLikes Cats: YesLikes Kids: Yes ##2267734##

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Meet Baron, a majestic Husky/Malamute mix with a noble spirit. At 2.5 years old and neutered, Baron is ready to start a new chapter with a family that understands his breed. Baron is very social with other dogs and loves belly rubs. He walks well on a leash and is non-leash reactive, making him great for outings. He crates well at night, is potty trained, and knows commands like sit, shake, high five, and touch. He's eager to learn more tricks! Baron’s wooly coat requires regular brushing and professional grooming to keep him comfortable and healthy. Prospective adopters need to understand the grooming commitment and the unique needs of his breed. Baron's new home should not have children under 15, cats, or small dogs. While Baron is a sweet and loving dog, he does have a few quirks that come with his personality. He can be a bit of a resource guarder when it comes to high-value treats and food, so his new family should be mindful of this behavior and provide him with proper training and boundaries. Additionally, Baron can be grumbly and a tad moody at times, but if you’re familiar with the Husky breed, you’ll know this checks out as part of his charm. Husky Breed Insights: Huskies are known for their even temperament, love for other dogs, and indifference to strangers, making them excellent companions for active families. They maintain a playful, puppy-like energy well into adulthood and exhibit a zest for life that few breeds can match. Every outing feels like a brand-new adventure for a Husky, and they often express their excitement with what owners affectionately call the "zoomies." These dogs excel in roles that require focus and determination. Originally bred to work, Huskies thrive when given tasks or engaging in activities like mushing, ski-joring, or bikejoring. A tired Husky is a happy Husky, and many owners find that channeling their energy into "jobs" helps them stay balanced and content. That said, Huskies can be a challenge for first-time dog owners. They require extensive training and daily exercise to maintain good behavior. Huskies often have independent minds and short attention spans, but with the right dedication, they become loyal and reliable companions. Those willing to invest time and energy into a Husky will be rewarded with a one-of-a-kind, personality-packed dog. Requirements for Baron's new family: Experience with Husky/Malamute breeds Commitment to regular grooming Understanding of breed-specific behaviors and needs No children under 15, cats, or small dogs If you meet these requirements, Baron could be the perfect addition to your home. Important Note: Baron had entropion surgery to correct his eyelids. His new family should monitor his eye health as part of his ongoing care. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. January 24, 2025, 4:00 pm

Story
Meet Brady! This sweet husky malamute mix is a bundle of energy. He's around 1-2 years old. He's a good boy that knows how to sit and shake, but laying down is a bit of a challenge for him but with a good treat, he will do it. He's very food motivated. Brady does get along with other dogs with proper introduction, he is a bit in your face with other dogs, so any other dog in the home would have to be patient with him. Cats are a no-no with him. He will chase them. He has a high prey drive. Brady is house and crate trained. He loves people and loves to be loved on. He loves to go for car rides. He would do fantastic with kids, but with his size he may knock down smaller children. So that something people interested need to know. He loves to walk, but he does pull on the leash especially at the beginning when he's really excited. Brady is playful and just an all-around great dog. If you do put him in a kennel, you do have to reinforce it with clips. Otherwise he's smart enough to break out. This boy is very, very intelligent and he is the ultimate escape artist. Brady will need a home with a fenced in yard. Preferably not a chain-link because he will scale. It also .no electric fences, please. If you would like to apply for Brady, please fill out our meet and greet application located below Brady can't wait to meet you. He loves company and bring him a treat. He said like he doesn't have enough here already. Meet and greet application: https://docs.google.com/.../1FAIpQLSfnMCqc.../viewform...
