Ideal FamilyFoxie will thrive in a loving home where she can enjoy daily walks, treats, and plenty of affection. She’s a gentle companion who will bring joy and loyalty to her forever family. To get started in the process for meeting Foxie, please visit https://azfriends.org/testing/adopt.html to complete an adoption consultation form, then come by the Adoption Center to meet with an adoption counselor. No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the animal. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).

This poor boy..... he somehow ended up at animal control and was so scared that they had to put him in a wheely bin to get him to and from his kennel, and because he was fearful he got put on the list to be euthanized. He is now thriving in his new found rescue life, and is ready for his forever home!  Mosley is such a goofball! He loves to play with toys, play fetch, play "get me" in the yard (or house) and loves to be outside sunbathing! Mosley is unsure about new things he sees so he approaches slowly and needs lots of confidence building and encouragement but with patience he learns quickly! No other pets in the home for Mr. Mosley, he is not a fan. He would love to just have his human/humans and a nice yard to play in, he is even trying to learn how to swim!  If you are interested in meeting MOSLEY, please complete our application www.underdogaz.com or email for more info info@underdogaz.com.July 23, 2025, 3:09 pm

Story
MEET BOOMER! Boomer is a 90 lb gentle giant who’s looking for a home where he can feel safe, loved, and understood. Rescued from the euthanasia list at county due to a treatable eye infection, Boomer arrived scared and unsure — but with time and patience, he’s been growing more confident every day. He’s house trained, crate trained, and loves lounging poolside or cruising in the car. He enjoys sunbathing, snuggling his humans, and bringing you his toys to start a game. He’ll also happily entertain himself by making up his own silly games. Boomer is full of goofy charm (yes, he’s afraid of his own farts) and affection, but he’s still learning how to process boredom or loneliness — which can lead to destructive behavior if left unchecked. He needs a patient, experienced owner who can continue building his confidence and help him understand that love and attention are always there, even when you're not in the same room. Boomer also has some special medical needs: he receives a Cytopoint injection every eight weeks for allergies and requires daily wrinkle wipes to keep his face healthy. Boomer Would Thrive In a Home With: • A calm, confident, and experienced dog owner • A secure, fenced yard (6 ft required) • A regular routine and positive reinforcement training • Someone committed to his ongoing medical care • A laid-back lifestyle with plenty of cuddle time and affection Boomer is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for a soft place to land. Story
MEET BRUCE! Bruce is a 5-year-old brindle mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He’s house trained, food-motivated, and knows all the basics like “sit,” “down,” “stay,” and “place.” While he’s not the cuddly type, Bruce is incredibly loyal and always excited to see his people — complete with happy tail wags and enthusiastic jumps (watch out, he doesn’t quite realize how hefty he is!). This goofy guy has some funny habits, like gently nibbling on couch cushions (no damage — just a quirk!) and rolling around on his back with his tongue out like a clown. He loves car rides, is great at playing catch, and keeps his foster laughing with his expressive, sometimes bashful looks. Bruce is calm and well-behaved at home, even when left alone, but he can be protective and reactive on walks. He’s best walked during quieter hours, and he needs an owner who can handle his strength and guide him with confidence. Bruce should be the only pet in the home and is not a match for cats, small animals, or young kids due to his size and sensitivity to fast movements. Bruce Would Thrive In a Home With: • No other pets or young children • A calm, quiet household with minimal visitors • A secure, fenced yard (6 ft required) • An experienced dog owner comfortable with reactivity and continued training • Patience, structure, and room for him to be his goofy, loyal self Bruce is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to find a home that will appreciate all his unique qualities. Story
Hi there, future family! My name is Lafonda, and oh boy, do I have a tail&#226&#128&#145wagging story to tell you. I’ve been waiting a long time to share it with the special humans who will someday call me their own. Maybe—just maybe—that’s you. I’m about four years old, which means I’ve got the perfect mix of youthful pep and grown&#226&#128&#145up charm. Back in June of 2025, I was picked up as a stray in Yuma. I don’t remember much about how I ended up on my own, but I do remember how relieved I was when kind people scooped me up and kept me safe. I spent some time at the pound there, dreaming of the day someone would walk in, point at me, and say, “That’s the one.” It didn’t happen then… but that’s okay, because my journey wasn’t over. Now I’m living my best temporary life at Central Arizona Animal Rescue, and let me tell you—I’m soaking up all the love, treats, and playtime I can get. Still, every night when I curl up to sleep, I imagine what it will feel like to finally have a forever home. A place where I can stretch out on a soft bed, chase toys across the yard, and follow my humans around like the loyal shadow I’m destined to be. Let’s talk about the elephant in the room—or rather, the bald spot on my head. Yep, I’ve got one! When I was found, I had a wound there, but it’s all healed up now. The hair just never grew back, so I rock a permanent little shiny patch. Personally, I think it adds character. Some dogs have fancy markings; I have a built&#226&#128&#145in conversation starter. It makes me unique, memorable, and honestly kind of adorable. I’m all up to date on my vaccinations, and I’ve been microchipped so I’ll never get lost again. That part is really important to me. After spending who&#226&#128&#145knows&#226&#128&#145how&#226&#128&#145long wandering alone, the idea of always being connected to my people feels like the warmest, safest hug. Now, let’s get to the fun stuff—my personality. If you’re looking for a couch potato, I’m probably not your girl. I’m an active, playful, goofy, boxer&#226&#128&#145mix bundle of energy. I love to run, jump, wiggle, and especially play fetch. Oh, fetch. My absolute favorite. Throw the ball once, and I’ll think you’re neat. Throw it twice, and I’ll think you’re amazing. Throw it three times, and I’ll love you forever. I adore people. Hanging out with humans is one of my top hobbies. Whether you’re relaxing, working in the yard, or just wandering around the house, I’m happiest when I’m part of the action. I’m loyal, affectionate, and always ready to brighten your day with a tail wag or a goofy grin. I do need to mention one thing: I’m not good with cats. I know, I know—they’re cute and fluffy, but something about them just gets me too excited. So a cat&#226&#128&#145free home would be best for everyone involved. If you’re looking for a dog who will bring joy, laughter, and endless enthusiasm into your life, I think we might be a perfect match. I’ve been waiting since last summer for my forever family to find me. Maybe you’re the one who will finally say, “Come on, Lafonda. Let’s go home.” If you’d like to meet me—and I really hope you do—please email mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment. I’ll be here, tail wagging, ready to greet you with all the love I’ve been saving up. PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Do not e-mail us with a request to call you, if you have a question, please ask in the e-mail.   All dogs are adopted on a first come - first served basis.
