Hi! I'm Maui! I'm almost 4 years old and I love to cuddle, hike, and run. I don't want to share my humans with any other animals, and I'm just too big for tiny humans. I am also very protective of my house and yard and don't welcome strangers coming into my space. My confidence and manners could use some work, but I know a few tricks already! I LOVE food (especially bananas), playing tug, and hunting lizards. It makes mom and dad sad that I can't get along with my animal siblings, but they won't rest until they find the right fit where I can have a person all to myself.

When she was found, she was very, very sweet,  skinny, and starving ( see photo below).         Moonie is very comfortable with us, but since she was living on the streets for so long and had limited interaction with people, she is still trying to figure out which actions are safe with people and which are not. We do not advise children at this time due to her limited interaction with people. She has not yet been in playgroups with other dogs, so we would advise her to be the only pet in the home.   Her ideal home is with an owner/family who enjoys her silliness, love for attention, and need for a sense of safety and security.   While she is house and leash trained, she does not like to be outside alone. She will go out to potty but then wants to come back in. Poor girl probably feels she will be abandoned again. Moonie does enjoy her walks with the staff and volunteers. Avalon is a small Skye Terrier weighing less than 20lbs; however, we are not sure of what breed the father (or fathers) for these two boys are. Each pup looks very different and both are already taller than their mom. Based on looks, we are thinking this guy may have some type of bulldog blended into him. So we are not really sure how big or heavy he will get; although, it is likely he will be in the 30 lb range when fully grown.What we do know is that he is absolutely adorable and oh so cuddly, loving and playful! New puppy parents must be dedicated to obedience, socialization and potty training to ensure the pup grows up to be a happy and well-adjusted dog. We highly recommend their new family attend puppy training classes. Cheez is a 5-year-young healthy 30-pound Boxer mix looking for his forever home. While his early life is unknown to us we do know he has had it rough. We got him from a high-kill shelter the day he was to be put down. He was then adopted by a family but sadly, he was returned to us in the same year. His family moved to the west coast and were unable to take him. Personal observations: he seems to prefer short walks and is good with being inside or outside for short periods. He walks well on a leash. He is a great guard dog and alerts to strangers quickly however he is not a noisy dog and seldom barks unless there’s a reason. Cheez likes his toys, lounging on the couch, in his dog house getting treats and belly rubs. He looks at you with his great golden Eyes and you know he loves you he will give you high fives and stand on his back legs to hug you. Cheez is a great loving dog, you won’t be disappointed. Meet and greets with family a must…at home meet greets available. Always keep in mind patience is a must…a new dog given time to adjust will always be a loving and valuable family member. His adoption donation is $100 which includes his neuter, vaccinations, and microchip. He is heartworm-negative and on monthly preventative. He finally had a loving home and now he is back with us wondering why. He has been through so much and deserves to be loved and spoiled.  ***LOCATED IN HOWEY IN THE HILLS, FL*** Meet Brie- INSTANT COMPANION!   This baby girl was 'DUMPED' - a Good Sam found her in the woods, in deplorable condition and took her to his vet for a bath, a microchip-check and an overall check-up.  She was chipped but the contact info was obsolete, and records reflected this same family as having dumped another dog. Brie has a sweet temperament - is gentle, loves toys - has the heart and activity level of a 4-year old, but the Vet is guessing her to be around 7-8 years old.  She is a Boxer/Terrier mix, and weighs about 55 lbs.  She is in a temporary foster home with several cats - (confined because of the cats) and a couple other dogs who are not accepting of her, so we are anxious to get her into a new home - SOON.     She get along well with calmer dogs - but NO CATS!  Not sure about kids.   Her foster folks do not want to turn her in to a shelter for fear she will be euthanized - so we offered to help re-home her. Seems the shelters in Central FL are all maxed out.   She is happy, healthy, up to date on all vaccines - spayed & chipped.     Her adoption fee will be $150.  She will come to you fully vetted, vaccinated, spayed and chipped.   If you are interested, please download an application from:  www.gratefulpaws.org or email jmilbyer@gmail.com for one.   NOTE: Adoption/rehoming fees are applied towards the vet bill: exam, blood tests, vaccinations, fecal, worming, spay/neuter, dental if necessary, and a microchip.
