Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Mama Dukes’ life story has that rare mix of heartbreak, resilience, and pure sweetness. Her story is one of survival. Meet Mama Dukes. Mama Dukes is an estimated 13 year old American Bulldog mix (with possibly a hint of Boxer charm) whose spirit is as beautiful as her snowy white coat. After spending her entire life in an undersized outdoor kennel where she was used solely for breeding, Mama Dukes was finally rescued by local animal control and given her first real chance at love. When she came to us, she was underweight, neglected, and in need of extensive medical care. She had multiple masses removed (thank goodness all benign), underwent two rounds of major dental surgery, and was finally spayed after a lifetime of over breeding. But even in her hardest moments, Mama Dukes has shown nothing but sweetness and gentleness. She greeted everyone with gentle eyes, a soft heart, an unfaltering spirit, and a willingness to trust despite everything  she had endured. Today, Mama Dukes is healthy, safe, and thriving in her foster home. She lives peacefully with several foster dog siblings and is wonderfully dog friendly. She’s fully housebroken, uses a doggy door like a pro, and has perfected the art of being the world’s most devoted couch companion and Olympic snuggler. Because she lacked human companionship for so many years, Mama Dukes has become a true Velcro dog. She bonds deeply and wants to be near her people. She will do best in a home where she isn’t left alone for long hours. She does experience some separation anxiety when left in the car and can see her person walking away, but in the home, she settles beautifully with routine  and reassurance. Mama Dukes is gentle, loving, and endlessly grateful for every kindness shown to her. After a lifetime of hardship, she deserves a retirement filled with comfort, companionship, and the kind of love she was denied for far too long. We are searching for a very special home for this very special girl. Only the perfect match will do. A home where she will be cherished and cared for, for the rest of her days. If you’re looking for a loyal shadow, a soft snuggler, devoted companion, and the sweetest soul you’ll ever meet, Mama Dukes is ready to finally be someone’s beloved and treasured family member. NOTE: Dog Breed Information. We do not utilize DNA testing for breed and mix determinations. The breed and mix identifications provided on the webpages for our dogs are based on information provided by shelter staff, previous dogs owners, our visual assessment of an animal's physical characteristics, demeanor, and behavioral traits. Story
🌟 Meet Darcy – The Sweetest Little Meatball! 🌟 Darcy is a goofy, lovable, and oh-so-snuggly girl who’s ready to charm her way into your heart! With her adorable underbite (seriously, it’s the best one you’ll ever see!) and her chunky little frame, she’s basically a walking bundle of joy. At about 2–3 years old and weighing in at 39 lbs, Darcy is guessed to be a bulldog mix. She’s the ultimate couch potato but still has plenty of silly, playful energy to keep you smiling. Darcy loves people, gets along great with kids, and does well with other dogs. She hasn’t been cat tested yet but seems unbothered by our farm animals. 🐾 Why You’ll Love Darcy: Sweet, goofy, and affectionate – the ultimate family companion Dog- and kid-friendly Could thrive as an apartment dog due to her smaller size Loves lounging and being part of the family 🩺 Medical & Care: Spayed & microchipped Up to date on Rabies and Bordetella Will receive her final Distemper & Lepto vaccine on September 24th Heartworm test scheduled soon (just to double-check her health!) On monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention Darcy was found as a stray and brought to a local shelter, so we don’t know much about her past. She may not be fully potty trained yet, but with her smarts and eagerness to please, we’re confident she’ll pick it up quickly in a loving home. 💙 Darcy is the perfect mix of silly and sweet—a little meatball who’s ready to roll right into her forever family. Could that be you? 📩 Apply today to meet Darcy: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HPAW/Dog Or email us at adoptions@hoovesandpaws.org

This laid-back pup may look like he'd rather be left alone, but don't be fooled - Eeyore enjoys the company of people, in his own special way. He's a master of two things: eating (he's a foodie at heart!) and napping (he's got the perfect technique). Eeyore's a bit aloof, but that's just part of his charm. He's a gentle soul who'll appreciate a patient and loving home. No adopters yet? No worries, Eeyore's happy to wait for the perfect match. Currently, Eeyore's focusing on his health and getting ready for a forever home. He's scheduled for neuter and dental - once he's healed up, he'll be ready to find his people! If you're looking for a low-key buddy who'll appreciate a chill lifestyle, Eeyore might be the one. Stay tuned for updates on this little dinosaur's journey!" You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fill out an Adoption Application HEADLINER : Lively, Lovely, LaLa, aka Lala-palooza, Lala-pop! PERSONALITY : It's hard to believe that Lala hasn't been snapped up as yet. She's smart and loves everyone she meets. This energetic girl loves fresh veggies, fruit, ice cubes and a vigorous "butt scratch." Have you ever had that friend or relative that overstays their welcome? You know you have. Do not despair as there is a solution. Lala definitely has the bulldog "toots" that are guaranteed to clear out a room (or unwanted guests). Just remember to "breathe through your mouth". :) If you're looking for a dog with the personality of a potato, Lala is not the dog for you; lazy is not in Lala's DNA. If you want a hiking or running companion or a dog (with training) that would excel in lure coursing, agility, fly ball or any other high energy sport, Lala's your girl. Ahhh, if only there were a way to harness all that energy. FAVORITE ACTIVITIES : Lala is a high energy pup that loves to fetch... though she hasn't quite grasped the idea of releasing yet, she is working on it. Lala is a pup that never passes up the opportunity for a good game of tug of war. MEDICAL ISSUES : None. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME : Lala would do best in an active home with a fenced yard where she can run around to her heart’s content and burn some of that high energy off. Lala can quite play rough with other dogs. A home where she the only dog soaking up the attention or a home with another large male dog that matches her energy would be best. Kids older than 12 would be best as Lala may knock a smaller child down. Lala would greatly benefit from positive reinforcement obedience classes. Though Lala loves to go for a ride, she does get car sick so best not to feed her before she hops in the car.
