Story
Hello, I’m Hazel, a 5-year-old American Bulldog mix with a white and tan coat and a big smile. I’m a playful and sweet girl who loves to have fun and cuddle with my people. I’m spayed, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. I’m house and crate trained, but I need some help learning to walk better on a leash. I get so excited to go for walks, and I’m very strong which means I can pull hard. I need an owner who can handle me and teach me some manners. I’m good with older children and other dogs, especially mellow ones. We don’t know how I feel about cats, but I can be cat-tested if you want. I have a lot of energy and I like to run around and play with balls. But I also like to relax and nap in my own space. I have a large kennel where I feel comfortable and safe. I don’t like to be outdoors for too long, I prefer to be inside with my people. I’m afraid of being abandoned, so I don’t like to go far from home. I have some digestive issues, so I need a special diet of lamb and rice. I also need to be crated when I’m not supervised, because I can chew on things. I’m a big girl, about 77 pounds, and I can be clumsy sometimes. I would not do well with small kids, because I might knock them over. But if you are used to large dogs, you will love me. I’m a gentle giant who just wants to be loved. I have a lot of potential and I’m ready to show you what a great dog I can be. I’m being fostered in New Kent, VA but I can be transported to other states for the right home. If you think you are the one for me, please fill out an application and let’s meet. Must be at least 21 years old to apply. I can’t wait to see you!

Story
Hi there, I'm Jace, a white and brown bulldog mix. I'm 55 pounds and as sweet as ever. I love nothing more than to snuggle up next to somebody and get belly rubs and head scratches. I'm also smart and have been working on sit, down, and leave it. I could learn more commands as I'm a motivated learner. Anything for a treat! My favorite toys include a Kong filled with kibble or peanut butter, bones, and stuffed animals. I like to play fetch (although I don’t always want to give the ball back) and tug of war! I would do great as somebody’s best friend. I like to follow you around the house and chill with you. I’m a goober! I don’t quite understand my size and will try to sit directly in your lap just to be close. I'm working potty and crate training but walk great on the leash. I'm not good with dogs, likely out of fear rather than true aggression. I was chained in a yard for most of my life before I was rescued. I was nothing but skin and bones from starvation which has now caused me to guard my food. I love cats except if they come around my food. One side of my face will never fill in due to what the vet thinks is an old injury, but that doesn't stop me from being a cuddly lover. I am neutered and vaccinated. I was heartworm positive, but I've completed treatment. I'm currently in Hampton, VA but I can be transported out of state for the right home. Please note, there may be a transport fee if volunteer transport cannot be arranged. If you're looking for a loving companion, I'm here for you!

Story
Hi there, I’m Tommy, a 4-year-old, 60 lb., American Bulldog mix. I have a handsome white coat with a brown left ear that makes me stand out from the crowd. I’m a friendly and loyal boy who loves people and attention. I came from Miami-Dade, Florida in 2020, thanks to Operation Save a Shelter Dog. They rescued me from the streets when I was very skinny and hungry, and a big storm was coming. They gave me a second chance at life and I’m so grateful for that. I’m a smart and obedient boy who knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. I’m also crate-trained and housebroken. I love treats and I’m very food motivated, which helps motivate me when training. I’m always eager to please my humans and get praised for being a good boy. I have some issues with other animals, though. Because of my past, I can be reactive to other dogs. I’ve been working on this, and I can tolerate dogs in small doses, but I need slow and careful introductions. I also have a strong prey drive, so I can’t live with small dogs, cats, or other critters. I need to be your only pet, please. I also guard my food, so I eat in my crate where I can feel safe. I’m fine with treats, though. I’m good with older children who I can goof around with that will also play nicely with me. I love to goof around and have fun. I need a home with a savvy handler who can give me a job, practice my training, help me feel safe, and grow my confidence. I’m up to date on vaccines, neutered, and in great health. I’m currently being fostered in Hampton, VA, but I can be transported out of state for the right home. If you are interested in adopting me, complete an application today! I can’t wait to meet you and start our new adventure together. *Must be 21 or older to apply.

Look no further—Zeus just might be your guy. This 65 lb goofball is all muscle and all love. He’s sweet, affectionate, and always ready for a cuddle or a lazy nap after a walk outside, where he loves to just sit and watch the world go by. Zeus isn’t meant for a dainty life. He’s looking for a home that embraces his “bull in a china shop” energy and understands he doesn’t always know his own strength. Because of this, he’ll do best in a home without young kids. He’s also a bit too much for most other pets, so Zeus would love to be your one and only—and trust us, he’s got plenty of love to give! Zeus has some vet anxiety and isn’t a fan of being restrained, but he’s made huge progress and just needs someone willing to take things slow and earn his trust. If you’re ready for a goofy, snuggly, loyal best friend who will keep you laughing every single day, adopt Zeus! Symbiotic Inc has a required minimum $360 adoption donation upon the completion of the adoption (it is tax deductible!) All dog adoptions include a required one hour virtual session with our partners at Lucky Dogs. This session is at no additional charge www.LuckyDogstraining.net If you think this dog may be a good fit for your family, please visit our website and find out more about our application process. https://symbioticinc.org/adoption-application

Story
Meet Chip – A Gentle, Merle Bully Mix Learning to Feel Safe Again Chip is an 8–9 month old merle American Bully mix who has already endured more than any young dog should. He arrived underweight, unsure, and visibly confused about the world around him. It’s clear he hasn’t always been treated kindly, and those early experiences have left him a bit hand-shy and hesitant. But beneath that uncertainty is one of the sweetest, softest souls you’ll ever meet. When he begins to trust you — even just a little — he leans in with quiet affection. He watches his people closely, wanting to be brave, wanting to connect. He just needs patience and kind guidance to continue learning that human hands can mean safety. Chip is still figuring out the basics of home life. If he has a potty accident, he’ll move away quickly as though he’s expecting punishment — a heartbreaking glimpse into his past. What he needs now is reassurance, gentleness, and a home willing to teach with love instead of fear. Despite everything he’s faced, Chip remains incredibly tender-hearted. With time, consistency, and kindness, he’s going to bloom into the devoted, loving companion he was always meant to be. If you’re looking for a resilient, affectionate young dog who just needs someone to believe in him, Chip may be the perfect match. Story
Meet Short Stack – The Adorable Low-Rider with a Big Heart Short Stack is a squatty, lovable bully mix, about 2 years old, with a personality that’s larger than life. Don’t let his short stature fool you — this compact guy is bursting with energy, charm, and affection that’s guaranteed to make you smile. Playful and curious, Short Stack is full of love and a little bit of mischief (the fun kind). He’s treat-motivated, already knows “sit,” and is a great candidate for learning more with someone willing to keep working on basic manners and enrichment. Short Stack would thrive in an active home where he can get plenty of exercise, playtime, and attention. He’s happy to get out for walks or zoom around the yard, then settle in for snuggles once he’s had a chance to burn off some energy. While he can be around other animals, Short Stack would really prefer to be your one and only at home so he doesn’t have to share his favorite people. He’s looking for a family who will enjoy his goofy antics, give him structure, and let him be the center of attention. If you’re looking for a sweet, funny, and loyal companion, Short Stack is ready to steal your heart. He’s been overlooked for far too long and is more than ready for his chance. To learn more or apply to adopt Short Stack, please email adoptpetersburg@gmail.com with “Short Stack” in the subject line.
