Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This adorable little boy was picked up as a stray in Kentucky, so we know absolutely nothing about his past.  But we've learned a lot about him while he has been in our care!    He is very affectionate and loves to be with his human(s) at all times.    He's about 8 years old, and weighs 23#.   We think he prefers to be the only dog in the home.  Initially we thought he would probably enjoy having a canine friend to play with (one who will likely allow him to be alpha), but now we think he would prefer to be an 'only child'.   He's curious about cats, but hasn't bothered the cats in his foster home. Auggie does great on a leash, he's good in the car, house trained and will let you know when he has to go outside and potty.  He easily uses doggie stairs to get up into bed, and he's a great couch companion.  Like many Eskies, he is vocal and slightly demanding at times when he wants something.   He loves his food, and even loves frozen green beans as a treat!  He's currently on a prescription canned food to keep crystals from forming in his urine, which he loves.  It's readily available at Chewy and in pet stores.    (he has a written script for the food, which we will give to adopter).  He does best on soft and canned foods, due to the fact that he had severe periodontal disease when we got him.  He had multiple cracked, broken, and missing teeth, and the vet gave him a 4/4 score for his dental condition.  We usually see that when dogs have spent a lot of time chewing on kennel bars, or trying to eat rocks.   When Auggie had his dental done, most of his teeth were removed, and we're sure he's feeling so much better now because of that.   If you have any questions about Auggie, please contact Cheryl@eskierescuers.org.  Or complete our online Adoption Application, the link is part way down this page: https://www.eskierescuers.org/info/display?PageID=21057  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers. There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!                                                       March 7, 2026, 6:43 pm

NAME:    Mac BREED:   Chihuahua/Pom mix SEX:       male COLOR:    Black Sabled Fawn AGE:    DOB 4/22/26 WEIGHT:  5 lbs as of Aug 15, 2026 SOME COOL INFORMATION ABOUT ME:  Meet Mac!  Mac is a tiny ball of fluff weighing just 3.6 pounds (as of July 5), but don't let his size fool you. This little guy is already making a big impression! Mac and his sister, Kenzie, were born to their sweet mama, Patty, and while we know exactly who Mom is, Dad remains one of rescues greatest unsolved mysteries. Whatever his heritage, he certainly passed along an extra helping of fluff!  Based on Google searches his his dad most likely had some Pomeranian in there!  One of Macs most adorable features is his little half tail. It gives him an extra dose of character and makes his happy wiggles even more irresistible. Like any young puppy, Mac is full of curiosity and ready to discover everything the world has to offer. Every toy is an adventure, every new sound deserves investigating, and every person is a potential best friend. Mac is looking for a family that's ready for all the fun, laughter, and occasional puppy shenanigans that come with raising a youngster. In return, hell reward you with endless entertainment, unconditional love, and a lifetime of memories.   Note:  since we are not 100% sure on who the father is we cannot guarantee what size the puppies will be as adults.  If size or weight restrictions are an issue then this may not be a good fit.  We do our best to try to figure out what breed mix is in the puppies but we can't be sure.  We are only considering homes in our local area - 1 hour or less from Arcadia FL.  If you have adopted from us before and are slightly out of that area, please contact us directly and we can discuss it.  The puppies are too young to be spayed/neutered yet and still need a few more rounds of vaccines as well as to be spayed or neutered..  All vaccines and spay/neuter surgery will be done at our vet's office in Arcadia so you must be willing to bring them to their appointments in order to be considered for adoption.  If you are interested in adopting please complete our Adoption Application by copying and pasting the following link into your web browser: http://www.caninecastaways.org/adoption-application For a full list of dogs we currently have for adoption use this link:  https://www.caninecastaways.org/adoptable-dogs MEDICAL INFO: The following has been or will be done for this puppy at the appropriate age... - Basic Exam by Veterinarian - Spayed or Neutered - Placed on heartworm preventive - Basic Bloodwork - Microchipped - Intestinal Parasite Exam and medication - Vaccinations - Placed on flea preventive ADOPTION DONATION: $400 This adoption donation helps to cover the vet expenses for this puppy including heartworm preventive which is dispensed at the initial vet visit and then goes with the dog at adoption.
