Story
Jet is an 1.5-year-old male Pit mix who must be neutered before adoption.  After running around in a neighborhood for 10 days, City Animal Control brought him to PAHS.  Obviously, no owner reclaimed him.  Jet, named because he is fast, is gorgeous!  He has a very light tan coat with a bit of white markings.  He weighs 51 pounds so he is a large dog.  Jet will need a patient owner who will work on his leash training with him.  He is a bit timid and shy; and we believe he would be fine with older children.  If you have another dog, we would require a meet and greet with you other dog to make sure they would get along with each other.  Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120.  Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75.  All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter.  Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under 'special needs' our dogs have screened heart worm negative.  May 31, 2025, 6:44 pm

Story
Molly is a 3-month-old female Pit Bull mix.  She was brought to PAHS by kind lady who found her abandoned out in the county.  Molly has a brown coat with light black coloring around her face.  She is a beautiful little girl who is just as sweet as can be.  Molly will be a medium size adult dog who could weigh up to 60 pounds.  She would be fine with other dogs and children.  This friendly and sweet little pup is ready for a new start on life with a loving family.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Story
Cannon is a 2-year-old male Pit Bull Terrier mix who must be neutered before adoption.  He was brought to PAHS by county animal control after he was found abandoned out in the county.  Cannon is black with white markings; and he weighs 57 pounds.  Even though he is a large dog--he is very gentle and loving.  The staff feel he would be good with children.  If you have another dog, we would required a scheduled 'meet and greet' with your dog.  Come out and meet this great dog soon!Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Please make sure to read the narrative below our pet's photos as you will find a description of our pet with all we know about them, our adoption fee info, and you will find the link to do our online Adoption Application which is the first step in our Adoption Process!     Please read ALL below where you will find answers about the pet, our adoption fees and how to do our adoption application!   Pet Description:  Chatty Cathy is a 7-8 month old (as of end of June) female Pit. She came to us as an emaciated stray and her 'LOVE ME' personality won us over.  She craves attention and will hug you to keep you close.  Very playful, great with male and female dogs and cats and yes, can be talkative to get your attention.  She is only about 40 lbs so not a big gal at all.  She can be a couch potato or have the zoomies - all happy dogs deserve to get to do zoomies as much as they want.   DOG ADOPTION FEE is $100. This Adoption fee includes: mandatory spay/neuter which will be done before you can take your dog or puppy home with you; basic canine immunizations (DHPP-CPV & Bordatella Intranasal); de-wormings; one-year rabies vaccination if old enough; heartworm test if over five months old; microchip from 24-Pet Watch; certificate for free health examination at your participating veterinarian; and a goodie bag chocked full of information, toys, and more.  (If a dog is sponsored or has a waived or lower fee, that info will be provided at the point of adoption to the approved adopter).   The first step is to our Adoption Application here:  https://elmorehumane.org/adoption-application-online-form2.html .   IMPORTANT – we respond to your emailed applications and queries via email back to you.  Please make sure you have either added our email  (hselco@bellsouth.net)  to your contact list or that you routinely check your SPAM folder for our response just to be safe. She walks well on a leash, loves treats and has good recall.  Her finders felt she was housetrained and she is good with other dogs (male & female) here in the Shelter and children. When Nyx came to us she tested positive for heartworms and has completed her treatment so ready for a home where she will be a part of the family, kept home safe and also kept on regular heartworm prevention so she never again has to have her health challenged by those nasty heartworms.    DOG ADOPTION FEE is $100.
