Story
"Much like we don't know why Stonehenge exists, the world is left wondering why Diamond is still at MHS. Let's be real, MHS has moved several pitties in the past 11 months, and few of those were dogs that I expected would be really challenging to place. So, what's the deal with an awesome dog like Diamond? Is she too affectionate?...how is that even possible?" -MHS Volunteer Tate. We fully agree with Tate...how in the world is Diamond still at MHS? How has she not found a family? In about one month, on June 2nd, Diamond will have been at the shelter for one year. Diamond's ideal adopter would be someone who likes to snuggle close to their dog. She likes to sit right next to you and ask for belly rubs once she knows you. She's met kiddos around 8-years-old and she had full-body wiggles when she saw them! She's done best interacting with equally playful and friendly male dogs. Diamond would prefer no kitties. So, she's quite versatile! She could be adopted into a home with or without kiddos as well as with or without dog friends (depending on the resident pup!) Consider adopting Diamond. Please call 219-872-4499 to make an appointment or just stop on by! If you cannot adopt Diamond, you can still help her. Did you know that? Tag any friends who are looking for a dog. Share this post. Call and schedule a FetchSomeFun to get her out of the shelter. Take pics during your field trip. Some dogs have found their adopters that way! Let's get her adopted so that she can enjoy her summer at home! This girl is long overdue and is so deserving Diamond is about six years old and is spayed.

Story
Hi everyone, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Daisy Mae. I'm about 46-pounds, am a little over one and a half years old, I'm spayed, and I LOVE playing in water! I'm one of those gentle nonstop-wiggling sweethearts once I am comfortable. I have been the best girl when I meet other dog friends! I'd love to be your resident dog's best friend. When it comes to meeting new people, I like to take my time doing so. Could you be patient with me so we can become best friends? The humans here say that I have this sweetness about me that will inevitably melt your heart. I'm not sure what I think about kitties yet. I do think as long as your children are respectful that I would be such an amazing fursister to them. I really love to be with people once I know I'm safe with you. The humans think that I would love an adopter who wanted to cuddle with me. Fast, intense movements aren't my favorite, so a chill lifestyle is the lifestyle for me. Craziness is too crazy! Let's be calm and cool together. When taking treats, I am just as polite as when I meet someone. I would love to keep learning new behaviors. I'm super smart! I think my ideal day would be one where we can go for a morning walkie and start the day together. Then maybe a nappy-nap and then some cuddles. I cannot wait to make your family complete. Love, Daisy Mae.

Story
Look at my smile! It should tell you how interactive and friendly I am! I am one of those pups who is just a happy, happy good boy. I love people and have done great with other equally friendly dog friends. My name is Felix and I am so hopeful that we can adopt each other. I love to run and play. I also love to be close to you and receive back massages. I know how to sit like the well-mannered gentleman that I am, too. Let me see...my ideal day... I'd love to have a balance of fun activities but also some lazy leisure. Like I said, I love to run and be active! I'm so fast! So, maybe we could go for walkies or joggies together? If you are someone who likes to take your dog with you wherever you go, I'd fit that role perfectly because I'm so extroverted! I know how to sit and I take treats very politely. I'm not sure what this "personal space" is that the humans speak of. I mean, aren't we supposed to be near each other? Welp, I think so, so that is all that matters! I'm about three years old and I'm neutered. Love, Felix.

Story
We don't even know where to start with telling you about Luna because this girl is that awesome! She loves everyone! The reason she is smiling in all her pictures is because she is the happiest girl ever! And her snorts! She runs around the dog park sniffing and snorting and she is just the cutest in the whole world. Luna has lived with other dog friends before! Depending on your resident pup, maybe they would get along nicely! She loves receiving all the attention that respectful, sturdy kiddos offer. She would be the best fursister to them. We're not sure what she thinks about kitties. She has done quite well in the crate and doesn't cause any commotion when left alone. Luna also does great with being house-trained! She knows how to sit, lay down, and take treats nicely. We are teaching her how to walk politely on a leash; she seems to do best when harnessed. Going for walks, snuggling, and riding shotgun next to you in the car are a few of her favorite things to do. Luna brightens up every room she is in. Her tail wags nonstop and she just wants someone to pet her and tell her she is pretty. Luna is a little over one and a half years old and is spayed.

Story
My story started when nice people found me in an abandoned building. My name is Darla. I was living on my own, so when they came and told me that they were going to help me, I was immediately grateful, and I showed them how incredibly loving I am towards people. If you look through my pictures, you can see the building where I was found and where I called "home". The nice people at MHS told me that my next "home" would be so amazing compared to what I had been used to. They also told me to tell you that you wouldn't know I had been living on my own because I am so people oriented. So here I am, ready and available for adoption and so hopeful that I find my very own loving home. A little bit more about me...my kisses are the sweetest and most gentle kisses. I love to play, and I am so interactive. I'm a great size to be a cuddle-buddy! I'm a little under 50-pounds and have short little legs. Squeaky toys and stuffed animals are so fun. Tennis balls make my puppy heart soar. Two tennis balls are the best because I can go fetch one and then come right back for you to be ready to throw the other one. I've done wonderful meeting new people. I'm just thankful to be able to have a second chance so I'm always thrilled when I get to spend time making friends. I think I'd prefer older kiddos, maybe 8ish and up. Being the apple of your eye as the only furbaby sounds perfect to me! I know how to sit like a good girl. I will always say "yes" when given the opportunity to sniff for treats through a snufflemat. I am over-the-moon at the idea of having my own family. I am about eight years old, and I'm spayed. Love, Darla.

Story
Scotch is one of those dogs whose smile and nonstop wagging tail makes all of our days better. Some pups prefer distance and space, but not our Scotch. Scotch believes he is a lap dog and wants to be right near you. It would be so awesome if whoever adopts him also likes to snuggle. Scotch definitely needs an adopter who is as affectionate as he is! His great body language when meeting people doesn't stop at just people! He's shown positive interest in other dog friends, too! We're not sure about kitties yet. If your kiddos are sturdy, we think he'd be the best big furbrother to them. Scotch is learning polite good-boy manners like sitting and taking treats politely. He is so eager to meet people that he gets so excited! We're teaching him to not jump and he is mastering that like the awesome student we knew he would be. We love his energy level -- he is active but then after a short bit likes to lay down and relax. Scotch's ideal day would be one that involves a walkie and cuddling. He also does great with enrichment toys. He is very food motivated so he will sniff and work through those enrichment puzzles which helps to tire him out, too! If you want to make an appointment to meet Scotch, please call us at 219-872-4499 or just stop on by! He is a little younger than three years old and is neutered.

One of the many wonderful things about Sasha is how she matches the energy of whoever she is with. If we are playing, Sasha is playing. If we are calm, Sasha is calm. If it is time for training and enrichment, Sasha is all in for the entire session. She is the most people-oriented dog and thrives on relationships. And speaking of relationships, her interactions with other friendly shelter dogs have been quite positive! Depending on the resident dog, she may do great with a fursibling! In her previous home, she did wonderful at being house-trained and was most content to stay in a bedroom while she was hanging by herself. She's a great car rider, too! Sasha is a perfect balance of playful, social, but also a little shy. She is a very relational girl when it comes to getting to know new people. A slow intro with yummy treats has been the way to her heart. Teenagers and older in the home would be best! She is a younger gal, a little less than three years old and is about 50-pounds. Come meet this lovebug.
