Zig Zag, or "Ziggy", is an extremely affectionate and fun-loving boy that will steal your heart with just one look at his "sunglasses!" He has been a special project for his foster parents who have worked diligently to help reduce his reactivity towards animals. He has made big improvements but will need a special "forever home" with owners that have the patience to continue his lessons. Ziggy loves to be warm and cozy and will surely come snuggle you on the couch if you have a blanket he can nuzzle his way under. He is crate trained, leash trained, is excellent about communicating when he needs to potty, knows "sit", "stay", "lie down", and is an especially good listener when a treat is involved! He is looking for a family he can trust who will dedicate the time to learn his special style of play - which includes big noises and lots of tug of war where he is always the winner. He is specifically looking for a quiet home where he can let down his guard. He loves his routines, including activity during the day where he can let out his energy. Coco is a 2yo female from the Lawrence Humane Society. She is so sweet after initial introductions. She is a very strong pup with a strong personality. She has done wonderfully here with us (quite a bit of anxiety after leaving the humane society) but as our kids get older and into competitive sports, we need to rehome Coco. Finding care for her often is becoming too difficult.

Stella was born 11/28/21. She is an american pitbull. Stella is the perfect pet. She is kennel trained, housebroke, and very lovable. She still has a little puppy in her but she does not chew up items that are not hers to chew. She does get a little rowdy when provoked either from playing with another pet or person. She is well behaved other than that. We would love to keep Stella because she is a member of our family. Unfortunately we recently bought a house in a city that unbeknownst to us does not allow pitbulls. She has no negative behaviors at all towards any pet or person. However our neighbor continuously turned us in for having a pitbull in city limits and even though we registered her as an emotional support animal the courts ordered us to remove her from the city. We are very heart broken over this. We just want to find her a loving home where she will be a member of the family.

Kona was rescued when she was 3-4 and we’ve had her for 4 years. We have worked with a couple different trainers to help her not be dog reactive. We have had several issues lately between her and our other female pit bull, Piper, and need to rehome Kona before one of them seriously hurts the other one. Kona is very smart, well trained and knows all the usual commands. She is a great dog on her own but struggles around other dogs. This is heartbreaking for us because she’s so funny and playful and loving but we can’t risk her and Piper hurting each other anymore.

My friends here at HOPE named me Oak because I was shaky and quivery like a leaf when I came here. That was a week ago, and I'm already opening up and developing some confidence. They tell me I will be solid like my namesake before too long. I had a bit of a rough start. I came from a bit of a dog hoarding situation. At least that's what my friend here says. All I know is that I lived with a lot of dogs, and I didn't go outside very often. When I got here I balked at doors. I didn't want to go out or in. I would drop to the ground and shake. But when I would see my hooman sitting on the ground, I would crawl to her for a hug. Now I am going through doors like a champ! I love to hang out in the lobby here. There are a lot of cats, and sometimes they scare me a bit, but I just leave them alone. They don't want to be friends, so I stay close to my favorite hoomans instead. I totally think I should be a lap dog, especially when they are trying to type. For some reason they put my front paws back on the ground and tell me "off." I don't think I like "off." On is a much better place to be! Update: I was adopted, but now I am back at HOPE. I have gained lots of confidence, but I still adore people. I am a bit dog selective, so if there is another dog in the home, it needs to be the right dog. And it upsets me when children cry. I tend to jump on them. So perhaps I would do better in a home with older children.
