Story
Enzo is an amazing boy! Please watch his video for a full recount of his journey to this point. He was pulled from a shelter in CA after our heartstrings were broken. Enzo had LOTS of unrestrained energy but after years of walks, love, and learning restraint and patience, he is READY! He loves his buddies as you can see with his friend Sam who dug under the kennels to come to visit! We will be very particular because Enzo can climb that same 6-foot chain link fence just to go explore the world. He loves being the center of attention. He kennels, he downs, sits, and is learning to shake. He is getting better about cats but doesn't always know his own strength with them sometimes. He is also pretty clumsy and will too easily knock over little ones so small children in the household would be discouraged. Experienced pit bull owner with vet references only, please. We are also looking for a foster family for him and will pay for them to take him to training classes. He is learning to wear a gentle leader and is doing well.

Story
Meet Tiger! Tiger came to us as an owner surrender because his owner was not able to have him where he lived. We believe Tiger was born in December of 2021 and he is currently around 75 pounds. Tiger is very food and treat motivated, and he prefers to be left alone while he eats. He keeps a clean kennel here at the shelter so he may only need a small refresher course on potty training while adjusting to a new schedule / routine. We believe he would do best with children 12+ that know to leave him alone while he eats. Tiger seems curious about other dogs here at the shelter, and he may do okay with another dog if it was the right fit, but we think he would do best without a cat in his new home. Experience with his breed would be a plus! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

Story
Say hey to Pickle! Pickle came to us after being found as a stray near Pickerel Lake Park and was never claimed. Pickle LOVES people and is a very sweet gal. We believe she was born in March of 2021. Since coming to us, she has not always kept a clean kennel, and may need a refresher course on potty training when adjusting to her new home. Since she came to us as a stray, we are not sure of her history, or what she has experience with in the past. Introduction to other animals should be very slow, and with caution. Pickle likes to play fetch, she knows how to sit, loves treats and is convinced she is a lap dog despite her size! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. Not good with dogs,
Story
Meet Dru! Dru came to us as a stray who was never claimed. We believe Dru was born in April of 2014, and would do best as the only animal in her new home. Dru is a sweet older gal that enjoys attention, and being outside - but the thing she enjoys most is food! Our vet believes that Dru is mostly deaf, or close to being fully deaf. Dru is not other animal friendly, but loves people! She does pretty well keeping a clean kennel here at the shelter, and may only need a small refresher course when learning a new routine. She is looking forward to putting shelter life behind her! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. Story
Are you looking for a laid back, go-with-the-flow, adorable and snuggly best friend to add to your family? Look no further, Myra is the gal for you! Things about me you might like to know: Breed: Staffy mix Color: Black/Tan Size: 70 lbs - I really do not look that big Age: Approximately 3 years Activity level: Low/Medium Things I do in my free time: I am a pretty chill girl, I spend most of my day relaxing. I am easily entertained watching the squirrels run along the fence in the yard. I like to follow my foster mom when she is doing things around the house or yard. Things I know: I have basic house manners, I respond well if I am corrected. I am respectful to other dogs. Things I am working on: I am trying to like baths and need work on basic commands. I am a little sensitive to yelling. When my foster brother gets in trouble I will go straight to my kennel, because I don’t want to get in trouble. Kennel: I am good in my kennel day and night if need be. My foster mom has also let me spend some nights out and I am happy to curl up on the couch while the rest of the house is asleep. When the family is at work/school I am content in my kennel. Potty training: Bonus! I am potty trained. Kids: I currently am in a house with a teenager, I would be OK with younger, respectful children. I am not big on jumping up. Dogs: I am great with other dogs. I currently live in a house with one middle aged and one older dog (both males). I would be fine living with or without another dog. Cats: Unknown- I think I would be very curious but not aggressive. Could be tested if need be. Car Rides: I am a great passenger, no car sickness for me Walking: I do great on leash. I would love a walk a day, although there have been days when my foster mom is busy and I get along fine without it. She just makes sure I get some good play time outside. What to expect when you adopt me: I am a confident girl that can easily fit in wherever you might want to take me. I love to meet new people. I would do well going to venues that allow dogs, or kids sporting events. I just love to get attention! I am not a big barker, even when I see dogs walk by the front of the house. Additional information: I came to Minnesota from Alabama. I was dropped at a shelter in AL back in June with my litter of puppies. Some amazing people knew that I was a very good girl and worked hard to get me out of the shelter into rescue. Thanks to “Spots Last Stop Canine Rescue” I am getting the chance to find my furever home. If you would like to meet Myra, please visit spotslaststop.org and fill out an application.
