Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Daniela: Future Boss of the House! About Daniela Daniela is the perfect mix of small size, big heart, and a massive personality. She is charming, sassy, and full of pure wiggle-butt enthusiasm! Daniela is happy and safe in her foster home, but she would honestly prefer not to have to compete the resident dogs for attention anymore. Personality & Quirks Daniela's presence fills the entire room—and she will absolutely bully you into giving her the attention she deserves! She has an endless supply of love and antics to share, along with a relentless dedication to making sure you don't forget about her. The Wiggle-Butt Welcome: Expect a full-body wag every time you walk through the door, or really anytime Daniela hasn't seen you for longer than 10 seconds. Her enthusiasm for her humans is absolutely unmatched! Snack Time Focus: When it's snack time, Daniela gives her full attention to a good chew toy or a peanut butter Kong. The Sweet Snoozer: Once she has had enough activity and attention, she will snooze and snore anywhere that is cozy. She will gladly go into her kennel, as long as it is comfy and comes with a treat. Training & Home Manners Daniela has been working hard on her manners in her foster home. She thrives on routine, positive reinforcement, and structure (mostly to remind her that you actually own the house). Accidents in the house have never been an issue—Daniela is far too much of a Queen to violate that particular code. The Ideal Home Daniela would do wonderfully in a home that wants a dog with a big personality to be the absolute center of their world. She’s looking for a family that will continue to guide her with love, keep her active, and doesn't mind being affectionately bullied into on-demand playing and petting. Are you ready to welcome this sassy and hilariously demanding girl into your life?Click here to watch a video of Daniela.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 6, 2026, 1:39 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My name is Miss Sammy. I was a sidekick for a truck driver since I was 6 weeks old. Then I could not easily get in the truck and my dad's new company said I could not ride with him any longer. The transition has been confusing to me after I made a long road trip from Ohio to MN where I met my foster family. I would bark at the door and outside. My foster mom thinks I was hoping my family would hear and find me. But I have lots of love in my heart and have opened it up to my foster family. I follow my foster Mom around like a Velcro dog. My favorite pastime is when the kids play with me. They squeak my toys and crinkle the paper inside. I get so excited when they do this. Sometimes I even bark at them to ask them to play. I have a white face but don't let that fool you. I still have bursts of energy. My foster kiddo discovered I fetch the ball one day. I love to bring it back. But when the foster dog jumped in front of me and grabbed the ball I got pretty upset. He is bigger than me so I feel like I have to let him know who is boss. It would not be a good idea to play fetch with another dog present. I growl at him through the baby gate when we eat our food so I food guard, as well. Otherwise, I am chill around him and we get along. I am 60-65lbs and I look so tiny. But I am pretty solid. I have not asked to jump on the couch, but I did whine a little to get on the bed. However, I am fine sleeping on my dog pillow next to my foster parents' bed. I fuss a little bit when put in the kennel, but then I calm down and nap. I do not pull on a leash. I do bark at other dogs. When I am riding in the car, I bark at anything that moves. My foster mom does not know if I am doing it out of anxiety from the move or if this is typical of me. But I am an all-around great dog. I am trained and my foster mom says I am easy to have around. If you have stairs in your home my foster mom wants you to know I am a little slow going up steps, but the vet did not find arthritis. He did say I need to lose 5lbs, otherwise, I am healthy. He said with my cute personality I will go fast. If you are looking for a pretrained smart, playful, but also calm companion I am the one for you. I will melt your heart with my soulful gaze, when I am trying to tell you something. And I am pretty vocal once I know you. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Darlene Mannino for more information about this pet.Everyone meet Doc! This handsome fellow come from a breeder who no longer needed his services. I picked him up on 7/25/26 and had him neutered on the 26th. The first day, I spent time with him and loving on him. He just looked at me, somewhat confused as to why I was doing that. Since the 26th he has been recovering like a champ that he is and taking it easy! When I let him outside to go potty, he makes the rounds and then will come to wherever I am and lean up against me. He is in a 6x6 foot kennel in the house and hasn’t pottied in it one time. He did pee in the garage one time. He is used to being outside and will need some training in this area. He does know how to sit for a treat. He makes every step I do in the garden, thinking I should be loving on him instead of picking veggies, as he deserves. He lived outside in the fenced yard with a couple of other dogs. He has met my 2 through a pet gate and everyone has wiggly butts. He tries to hide his food and may be food protective. I normally do not feed mine together since one will eat all the food. He would rather eat his food off the floor but we are working on that. Doc is a Big boy and will be well over 80 lbs. He has the most beautiful shiny black coat I have ever seen! He's 10 yrs old and needs a place to retire and enjoy all the love he can handle, some rest and relaxation. I’m pretty sure he will be a Velcro baby. He did walk well for me on the leash.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 6, 2026, 1:39 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Marie Splettstoeszer for more information about this pet.Hi, everyone. My name is Zoey. In my former life I was a mommy. That's what I did. I had puppies.... Now I don't need to do that anymore! My foster mommy says I'm the bestest girl. I go outside to go potty. Not sure why she thinks that's so great it's what I do. I like to go in the same area which she also thinks is great. I'm wondering what's wrong with her, she always to one place too! Anyways, here's a little bit more about me: I'm okay in a kennel, but would prefer to always be with you. I don't like being left all alone, but I know you'll come back. And when you do man do I wiggle, like crazy. My foster mom says I'm the cutest girl ever. Doorways can be a little scary, but I'm quickly getting used to them. My foster, mom says, I must have been in a house before as most things don't scare me. I was like well duh, I know what the kitchen is. That's where all the good food comes from! I beg & you will not be able to resist me. I'm more comfortable around women than men, but I quickly warm up to men when they respect me. There are no other dogs here, so my foster mom does not know how I behave around other dogs, but she thinks that I wouldn't mind having a companion. I also like to catch flies and there's a bunny hopping around here that I'm interested in. Maybe I can catch it! From Zoey's foster mom: This little girl is dang near perfect. She is so polite, so stunning, has the best personality. Seems to be a real quick learner. For sure loves her treats! Rides well in a car, will just settle down and sleep. If you're looking for a girl that will seamlessly fit into your lifestyle, I think this is the one. I don't have any cats or other dogs here, so I don't know how she is around them. But since she liked the bunny, I’m thinking she might want to chase cats. She also does pretty well on a leash.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 6, 2026, 1:39 pm

Story
Willing's journey began with heartbreak after he and his friend, Able, were abandoned together in Benson Park in North Mankato. When no one came to reclaim him from the impound, he found his way to BENCHS, where it quickly became clear that his past hadn't taken away his love for people. If Willing had a life motto, it would probably be, "I've never met a stranger." This handsome boy is incredibly social and has an infectious enthusiasm for making new friends. While some dogs take their time deciding who they trust, Willing skips that step entirely. If you're willing to say hello, he's already convinced you're going to be best friends. His happy personality shines through in everything he does, and his excitement for life is impossible not to smile at. Willing is an energetic dog who enjoys staying busy and being part of the action. Whether it's heading out for a walk, exploring a new place, learning something new, or simply spending time with his people, he's happiest when he has an outlet for both his mind and his body. He already knows "sit" and is very treat motivated, making him a wonderful candidate for continued positive reinforcement training. He also loves working on a stuffed Kong and enjoys enrichment that keeps his busy mind occupied. Although Willing arrived with Able, the two are currently kenneled separately. Willing is the younger, more energetic of the pair, and it seemed that his playful enthusiasm was sometimes a little much for Able. Since being at the shelter, Willing has not shown signs of dog aggression, but as with any dog, we recommend thoughtful introductions with other dogs to help everyone get off to a successful start. Because Willing came to us as a stray, we are unsure how he would do with cats or young children. Willing is looking for an active family that will embrace his outgoing personality and continue teaching him all the things a beloved family dog should know. He has already proven that his heart is wide open. Now all he needs is someone to give it a place to belong. If you're searching for a cheerful, affectionate companion who is always ready for life's next adventure, Willing may be exactly the dog you've been waiting for.

Mixed Breed (Medium) American Pit Bull Terrier

Male, 1 yr 6 mos
Mankato, MN

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Ace is about one year old, and while his story hasn’t been easy, it’s clear there is a really special dog underneath it all. Ace is a pit bull mix with a big heart and an even bigger brain. He’s incredibly smart and already knows several tricks, including sit, lay down, shake, knuckles, and high five. He loves toys of all kinds and truly enjoys being around other dogs, though he can get a little over the top with his excitement at times. At night, he happily sleeps in bed with his person, and when left alone, he does well both in a crate or loose in the home. Ace’s past has shaped him. Before coming into his most recent home, he spent much of his early life confined to a basement, missing out on critical socialization and exposure to the world. Since then, he has experienced instability, including multiple moves and time in environments that were not always calm or predictable. Because of this, Ace can be shy and sensitive, especially to loud voices or sudden changes. If startled, he may bark or run toward people, but he has never bitten and has shown no signs of aggression. In new environments, Ace may shut down at first. He tends to move slowly, may freeze or pancake when overwhelmed, and looks for safe, enclosed spaces when he’s unsure. But if you give him time, something really beautiful starts to happen. With gentle reassurance, soft voices, and patience, Ace begins to come forward. He seeks out connection, offers small moments of affection, and has already shown that he can settle and find comfort near his person. He responds incredibly well to calm handling and positive reinforcement, and he is tolerant of touch all over his body, even when he’s feeling unsure. These are really promising signs for a dog who simply hasn’t been given the chance to learn what the world is supposed to feel like. Ace would do best in a quiet home with a patient and understanding owner who can go slow and let him build confidence at his own pace. A home without a lot of chaos would help him feel safe. Another well matched dog could be a great outlet for him, given how much he enjoys canine companionship. While he has been around children before, a home with older, respectful kids, or no kids, would likely be best given his sensitivity. Ace has now been neutered upon coming to BENCHS and will need continued routine veterinary care as he settles into his new life. At his core, Ace is not a problem dog. He is a dog who was never shown what safety and consistency feel like. And yet, he is trying. Every single day, he is trying. The small moments, walking forward, accepting touch, laying down beside someone, those are huge for him. He is looking for someone who will see those moments for what they are, and help him keep going.
