Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Stanley came to us from a local a local shelter where he was brought in as a stray with obvious marks and scars of being abused, neglected and possibly used for a bait dog. Despite his rough start to life, Stanley is an extremely sweet boy who is unbothered by everything around him. He is docile, calm and has stolen our hearts here at TLCAR. Stanley is currently in a foster home with a small dog and a young child. He’s done wonderful with his interactions with other dogs and is doing very well learning what life should really be like for a pup! His foster mom reports that after working with him, he has learned how to walk properly on a leash quite quickly! He has zero food aggression and even met some kitties at the shelter with a tail wag and calm reaction. Stanley’s scars and missing bits here and there tell us that he has endured things no young pup should ever have to experience, but despite all of this, he has remained resilient, happy and nothing short of a wonderful house guest! This sweet, sweet boy deserves the world and a life to me of love. Please apply to adopt Stanley on our website at https://www.tlcarescue.com/info/adoption . Story
Dog Name: Malin Breed: Pittie mix Sex: female Age: ~ 3 yo Weight: 40 lbs Medical Needs: Malin has mild hip dysplasia on one side and bilateral luxating patellas. She takes a Dasuquin supplement daily which has made her joint issues almost imperceptible. This costs $13/mo  Housebroken: yesCrate trained: yesGood in the car: LOVES to go for rides. Good on a leash: Meh. Not so much. She acts like she has ADHD when the leash comes out. I think she’s hoping the next stop is the car! Energy level: mediumNeed a fenced in yard: not required  Dog Friendly: Yes and no. She is able to be out and about in public around other dogs and be fine. In the home, she can coexist with the right match of a dog…lower energy and not in your face. She has been known to resource guard items and food. For this reason,  a dog free home is recommended.  Cat Friendly? No. Perhaps it was a W. Virginia mountain lion that attacked her, leading to her amputation. Now she seeks revenge on all felines. ‍‍‍ It’s the story we are going with! Kid Friendly: I recommend teens. She could interpret screaming and yelling from youngsters as someone being threatened and would want to intervene. She seems sensitive to that.  If you followed GRR for a while then you know Malin has been with the rescue for about 17 months now. She came with some pretty severe injuries to her face and front legs which necessitated the amputation of her front right leg. During these 17 months, she’s had exactly 2 meet and greets!! Only TWO One of which is when we learned of her desire to nomnom a kitty ‍. Sure, she’s not perfect and needs a specific kind of home but she is so deserving of that. She is such a loving and devoted companion. I guarantee that if someone broke into my house all my dogs would probably hide but Malin…she would protect me at all costs. She absolutely loves going anywhere in the car…perhaps you know an over the road trucker in need of companionship? She is also happy to just chill at home on the couch if that’s where you are. She’s really not asking for too much. I know there has to be someone out there who sees the beauty in her like I do!!  Fosters Location:Hurlock, MD Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app —  ##1363897##

Story
Dog Name: SuitcaseBreed:  Pit mix Sex:  MaleAge:  1.5Weight: 50 lbsMedical Needs: none  Housebroken: Absolutely Crate trained: Treat to go in & then settles unless he knows you’re home in which case he will whine Good in the car:  YesGood on a leash:  Generally yes, he has a tendency to pull if you let him wander and sniff a lot Energy level: High, he’s a busy body  Need a fenced in yard: No, but then he would need extra walkies Dog Friendly: Very! 15 lbs & up please.Does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? NoCat Friendly? No Kid Friendly: YesIf yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? 8+ due to his rambunctious nature & mouthiness Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them?Suitcase is super food motivated so when teaching him new things it’s easy to reward him. But patience and consistency are key with this fella as he has many moments where you may wonder if anything is actually happening in that head of his Suitcase is very friendly with dogs and loves to play, but he can play rough. He needs a family that is patient and will be consistent, when we humans slack off some of his naughty behaviors (jumping/mouthing) return. He would love a family/person that’s going to help him continue to grow into the best possible version of himself Fosters Location: Newark, DE Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app) — ##1834787##
