Story
Gerald’s story could have ended very differently. When he arrived at the shelter, he was severely emaciated, weak, and could barely stand. He spent time under the close care of our veterinary team, who carefully monitored and nourished him through his recovery. Today, Gerald is healthy, happy, and finally ready for the forever home he deserves. At 6 years old, this sweet pit mix has already endured more than most dogs should — including recently losing an eye. But Gerald hasn’t let any of that dim his spirit. He’s resilient, loving, and truly one of the easiest dogs you could ever meet. Gerald is fully house trained, crate trained, and exceptionally well behaved. No jumping, no countersurfing, no chaos — just a calm, gentle soul who wants to be near his people. He takes treats like a perfect gentleman, loves kids, and is happiest curled up in a soft bed or stretched out in a sunny spot soaking up the warmth. After everything he’s been through, Gerald is simply looking for love, comfort, and someone to call his own. Gerald needs to be the only dog in the home, where he can finally relax, feel secure, and be the center of someone’s world. He’s happiest soaking up all the love and attention for himself — and honestly, he deserves it. If you’ve been searching for a loyal, laid-back companion with a heart of gold, Gerald may just be your perfect match.

Story
This sweet boy is continuing to do really well in foster care. He is still showing no signs of pain and is settling beautifully into his calm, easy routine. Topher has a unique strut due to his vertebrae defect, but it doesnt take away from his happy, easygoing spirit one bit. Hes the definition of a chill boycontent just being near his people and enjoying the slow life. One little note: I havent heard him bark, but he will let out a short howl after I leave him. It only lasts a minute or so and then he settles right back in. At this time, we are beginning to accept adoption applications for Topher. If youre looking for a low-key, gentle soul who just wants companionship and a soft place to land, he may be your guy

Story
Meet Jasper — 70 pounds of goofy, lovable charm wrapped up in one incredibly sweet dog. At 6 years old, Jasper is the perfect balance of playful and laid-back, and all he really wants is a family to love him forever. Jasper first came to Pitt Friends as a tiny puppy six years ago. He was adopted, and we hoped he had found his happily ever after. Sadly, last November, Jasper was found by animal control running loose, severely underweight, and suffering from a broken leg. Despite everything he has been through, Jasper’s spirit remains full of love, trust, and joy. His leg has fully healed, and now he’s ready for the real forever home he deserves. This handsome boy absolutely adores people of all ages. His favorite thing in the world is snuggling up with his humans and simply being close to the people he loves. Jasper is house-trained, walks well on a leash, and enjoys slow strolls around the neighborhood—unless a rabbit suddenly appears a few feet away, then you’ll want to hang on tight! He’s happiest living a quieter lifestyle, as large events and busy environments can make him overstimulated. Jasper would thrive in a calm home with backyard time, cozy couches, short walks, and plenty of affection. He also has a hilarious personality that keeps everyone smiling. Jasper loves toys and entertains himself by tossing them in the air and catching them all on his own. Fetch? He thinks that’s your job, not his. Jasper does well with most other dogs, especially smaller ones, though he can be a little clueless about personal space. After everything he’s endured, he still greets life with a wagging tail and giant smile. If you’re looking for a loyal companion and champion cuddler, Jasper may just be your perfect match.

Story
Meet Hamilton (“Hammy”) 💙🐾 Hamilton is a five-year-old goofy, lovable “meatball” who is looking for a forever family to call his own. At around 65 pounds, this handsome guy may be a big boy, but underneath it all he’s just a sweet shadow dog who wants to be near his people. He has the perfect balance of playful and laid back, loving games of fetch, tug-of-war, beach walks, and belly rubs just as much as he loves curling up for a long nap afterward. Hammy enjoys getting out and exploring but doesn’t have endless puppy energy. He walks well on a leash once he settles into a pace, listens nicely to corrections, and adapts easily to new situations and routines. During a beach trip, he loved walking along the shore, wanted to chase the waves, and impressed everyone with how well he listened around distractions. He also travels well in the car and quickly settles down for naps during rides. Hamilton has done wonderfully with older children and enjoys being around people, though busy or loud environments can sometimes overwhelm him. In calmer settings, his affectionate and easygoing personality really shines. He is house trained, crate trained, knows commands, and relaxes well on his own when needed. While he has not officially tested well with cats, he currently coexists respectfully with a small dog in foster care and may do well with slow, proper introductions. Hamilton is the kind of dog who simply wants to be included in everyday life—whether that means joining you on adventures, hanging out nearby while you relax, or snoozing at your feet after a long day. Sweet, adaptable, and full of personality, Hammy is ready to find a forever home that will love him for the goofy, loyal companion he is. 💙
