Story
Creed is the epitome of why older dogs are the best! At six years old, his size can be imposing at first, but he is actually quite the opposite - mild-mannered, great on the leash, and good around other dogs. He LOVES his back scratches. His excitement to play with you can translate to a little jumpiness so he is not recommended for a family with small children. Come meet this handsome fellow!

River is a beautiful girl who is treat motivated and willing to please. You may have seen her featured on To the Rescue - Sponsored by the Ricci Law Firm, which means her adoption fee is only $25 since they have sponsored $100 for her adoption (thank you Ricci Law Firm!). She is very sweet and loves attention, but she does have a high prey drive, so she is not good with cats or other small animals. Her high energy is better suited for an active family with no small children. Is she your match? Come meet her today!

Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Snoopy is a very loving, cuddly 4/yo. He's a very good alarm clock and will be in your face when he thinks you're ready to get up. He is a little mentally challenged but is a very good boy and loves attention, has some issues with listening but will eventually get it. He loves playing with his toys and running around like a crazy maniac. He might look sad but he's a very happy boy and with love you forever. We love him so very much and hate to let him go but him and his brother just don't get along very much and we can't have them have another fight. It really does break our hearts. We would love for him to have a very happy, loving family that is going to take very good care of him and give him all the attention his heart can take. He won't do so well with other animals.so a family that is only looking to have a single pet household would be perfect But overall it’s sad to have to make this decision but it’s better for him to get him the home he deserves with all the love he can get.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet this gorgeous gal named Lavender! She originally came into the shelter on May 21, 2021 when her owner was moving and could not take her along with them. She was adopted and 7 months later back December 12, 2021 when another pup approached Lavenders fence and there was a altercation. Owner felt to prevent from another possible accident happening it was best to bring her back though she was devastated because she adored and loved Lavender dearly. She is 3 years old, current on shots, already spayed, house broken, and missing her family and home life setting. She was super stressed when she came in (very common when they go from living in a home to a loud shelter with nothing familiar, new smells, people, barking dogs, etc). Plus she doesn’t care for other animals and needs a home that can keep her from being put in a situation where a accident could happen. Once out of her kennel she’s just a happy happy girl and loves soaking up body rubs and affection. Loves a good game of fetch. Doesn’t want to stop playing. Just a great girl who loves the water and who is house broken, smart, eager to please, loyal, and gorgeous. Maybe you have the most perfect loving FOREVER home for Lavender?! Visit with her today!!

Story
Meet this pretty girl named Zema! She came into the shelter early August 2022 and is patiently awaiting her adoption day. She came in very shy and unsure of shelter life but is settling in much better thanks to the love of the staff and volunteers. She is 4 years old, current on shots, now spayed, and once she knows you she is super fun and full of love to share. Needs the be the princess of the home so no other pets. Many dogs get stressed after time in the shelter but typically once in a home and time to settle in and decompress they return to the calmer pup. Maybe you have the most perfect FOREVER home for Zema?! Visit with her today! If you have another dog and are interested in meeting another potential new furry member please bring him or her to the shelter and meet on neutral ground before adopting. No need to shuffle the animals around any more than necessary. Please know that 1 mosquito bite can create heart worms and they can be fatal if not treated. It is VERY important to keep your pets healthy and protected by keeping them on a once a month heart worm and flea/tick prevention. These animals are counting on you as their owner to provide them with lots a love and the proper health care so PLEASE make sure you are aware and prepared before adopting. Owning a pet is an extra expense and responsibility but is so worth every minute and penny you invest in them. They will add lots of joy and unconditional love if given a fair chance. The shelter is open Mon.-Fri. 10-1, 2-5, Sat. 10-4. Adopt a homeless pet and save a life. If you can not adopt right now come out and volunteer and make a difference in the lives of these animals while they await their FOREVER home. In order to adopt any of our "bully breeds" there is special paper work that will need to be collected and approved prior to the adoption. We love all of our dogs and want to make sure to place our "bully babies" in homes best suited for them.

Story
Meet this handsome fella named Sosa! He came into the shelter December 19, 2022 and is now awaiting his adoption day. He is 1 year old, current on shots, now neutered, and needing a loving home to call his own. He is a strong boy and needs an owner that has time to work with him on basic manners/training. Once you invest time with him you will see a smart, more mature, handsome fella flourish. He doesn’t seem to like other animals so a home without other pets is best and an owner that can keep him away from from other animals when out of the home is important too. He loves soaking up body rubs and affection and is your playful, energetic 1 year old puppy. With the right owner and love he will blossom into a wonderful loving adult dog. He eats very fast and takes treats hasty (probably from not getting fed appropriately) so a slow feeder bowl would be idea for him and letting him take treats of out the palm of your hair saying easy. Volunteers are working with him on the easy and he’s doing better by the way. Stop by for a visit with Sosa today and adopt him into your heart and home! If you have another dog and are interested in meeting another potential new furry member please bring him or her to the shelter and meet on neutral ground before adopting. Story
River has come a long way with trusting and loving people. River has been at the shelter for 3 years.. patiently waiting for a family. He is such a sweet boy and is pretty perfect. He is potty trained and leash trained. From time to time, he gets a little nervous about the cars that pass him, and just needs a moment to relax. He would do best in a home with no other dogs. River loves to run around the play yard and look for an adventure. He is a huge toy hog and will steal treats. this handsome boy would love a couch to sleep on.Please visit our website, www.colonialcapitalhs.org to fill out an application today!
