Story
Rayne is a kind-hearted dog who is looking for her forever home. She seems to be housebroken and knows her basic commands. It may take her a minute to warm up to new people, but she is just nervous here at the shelter. She plays well with children, is dog selective, and will need a home without cats. She'd love to find a home where she could get lots of exercise and lots of attention. She is a quiet girl who has a friendly demeanor! We were told that she likes riding in cars and would love to tag along if you'd let her. This protective girl would make a great family companion!Age: 3Housebroken: YesActivity Level: Medium/HighKids: Loves kids!Dogs: Picky - we will do meet and greets!Cats: NoTraining Needs: Low, does jump when playing Leash Trained: YesIdeal Home: Fenced in yard, active, kids to play withPersonality: playful, active, nurturing, loyal, dominantPawgwarts (Hogwarts) House: Hufflepup! Story
Eleanor is a very sweet girl! She loves people and is great with kids, but might be too high energy for young children. She seems to enjoy other dogs and did very well in her previous foster home. She will need a home without cats. She is energetic, playful, and entertaining! Keep in mind, her energy can get her into trouble; she can clear a 6 foot chain link fence! Eleanor would thrive with a large privacy fence and lots of room to roam!Age: 2Housebroken: UnknownActivity Level: HighKids: Likes kids! Story
Introducing Chuck! Chuck is a sweet young dog who came to us on New Year’s Eve! Instead of celebrating with his people, he was found all alone and brought to the pound. He was scared and knew he wasn’t meant to be a pound dog and attempted to bust out of his kennel, scratching up his face in the process. He has since fully healed and is ready to lay on the charm!Chuck is an absolute sweetheart and loves our volunteers. He’s happy and affectionate and loves to play. He would make such a wonderful addition to any household! As always, any kids or dogs in the home must come in for a meet and greet. We can also cat test on request.

Prue has patiently waited for SIX MONTHS to find her new home and would love the opportunity to win you over! Here’s a little about Prue:- Prue is around three years old.- She gets along well with most dogs her size or larger. She is a medium size, 50 lbs. - She isn’t quite sure about little dogs.- Prue would need a very slow introduction to cats. She spent a weekend in a foster home with cats and she wasn’t comfortable around them.- She LOVES attention and would attach herself to you if she could.- She enjoys alone time in her crate.- Prue would likely do well in a home with children!- She is eager to please and is desperate for some stability in her life.- She’s obsessed with our kennel tech and always wants to stick by her side. With the right placement, she will be the best sidekick.- Prue has been here for SIX MONTHS! Prue is available to foster or adopt! Any kids or dogs in the home must come in for a meet and greet.

Story
Did you know Pierre originally came to us in 2022? He has been adopted and returned twice because of his energy level and his rowdy play style with other dogs, and we are beyond determined to find his perfect adopter.Pierre is loving and affectionate and wins over every person he meets. He loves butt scratches and belly rubs, and wants to be the center of attention. Pierre has a hyper play style and would do best with other playful dogs who want to wrestle.Pierre seems very tolerant of children and gets along well with them, but he might be too energetic for small kiddos. Pierre loves car rides. He walks pretty well on a leash and enjoys going on adventures. If you are looking for a new best friend who wants to live his life to the fullest, consider Pierre!More information? Call Marion Area Humane Society at 740-389-6548 or email at manager@mahspets.org

Story
Meet Mazie! Mazie is a 10 year old boxer mix who was surrendered to us because she wasn’t doing well with the young children in the home. We believe Mazie is hard of hearing, if not completely deaf. She would do best in a home without too much going on. She is looking for an adopter without young kids or other animals, however we will do meet and greets with older kids/teens who won’t squeeze or grab her, and respect her space! The shelter is no place for a sweet senior like Mazie. If you’re interested in sharing your home, please reach out!Intake notes: housebroken, afraid of loud noises, doesn't like children, protectiveMore information?
