Story
Emerging from the depths of her enchanted kiddie pool, Vada the Troll Queen is here to claim your backyard, your hose, and your heart. This mischievous little gremlin is equal parts sass, splash, and snuggle (on her terms, of course). She’s a one-of-a-kind, hose-chasing, Kong-chomping legend—and she’s looking for a loyal human to serve as her humble subject.Vada’s ideal kingdom includes: • A hose with good water pressure (the royal fountain, obviously) • A steady supply of Kongs (the sacred treasure of her people) • Zero other dogs (she’s a solo troll, thank you very much) • Cats who know their place (bow or be batted at) • Minimal manfolk (she finds them suspicious)She may be wary of strange humans (especially tall, loud ones), but once you’re accepted into her inner swamp circle, Vada is fiercely loyal and surprisingly sweet. She’ll keep your yard safe from rogue sprinklers, overconfident squirrels, and any unauthorized lawn gnomes.Vada is not here to win “Miss Congeniality.” She’s here to rule, splash, and chew rubbery things until they squeak no more. If you’re looking for a gentle, dainty flower—keep walking. But if you’re ready to bow before the chaos goblin queen and laugh every day at her swampy shenanigans, your highness awaits.Long live Vada. Bring snacks.More information? Story
Hi, I’ve just recently arrived after HSDC helped rescue me from a local puppy mill who discarded me. I’m finally experiencing so many firsts like being petted, hugged and loved! I’m looking for a patient adopter to help me decompress from the mill and learn what it’s like to finally get to be a dog. It is REQUIRED that my new home has another dog friend to help me gain confidence about life outside the mills. How did I get here? Ohio ranks second in the nation for puppy mills, with documented violations including poor living conditions and lack of medical care for dogs. The Humane Society of the United States has identified 16 of the worst puppy mills in Ohio, where dogs suffer both physically and mentally. Recent news stories are highlighting the urgent need for industry reform, but we’re not there yet. Advocacy for better conditions and responsible breeding practices is crucial to address this ongoing issue. If you’re interested in meeting me, please reach out to HSDC!

Story
Meet the amazing Maze. She is obedience trained, great with kids and a lover of tennis balls, soccer balls, and all sport balls. Our Maze is an 8 year old boxer/American Bulldog mix who weighs 57 lbs. Why is she so amazing? This gal has received obedience training, knows hand signals, can bark on command, and loves to play ball. She loves the water too! We took her out to our agility course and she caught on pretty darn quick. She is deaf but that hasnt impacted her enjoyment of life at all. She is very adept at interpreting hand signals.Maze is very loving and active. Our gal loves to be with her humans and especially so if they rub her butt. She does amazing with kids and is ok with cats but is picky about her doggie friends so she needs to be the only dog in the home Amazing Maze is extremely food motivated and will act like she is starving! lol.. Maze also likes to sit on the couch with her human and give gentle kisses. She also loves to go for car rides! She went for a day out with some volunteers and had a blast playing ball, exploring the water, getting lovin and just enjoying life. Check out the video of her day out and you will appreciate how truly amazing this dog is.Maze's ideal home would be where she is the queen and has adults or kids who would love to play ball with her in the backyard, take her for car rides, and snuggle on the couch. We really would love to get Maze out of the kennel and into a loving home. Just take a look at that video again and apply to adopt at www.caninecollective.org!
