Story
Ziggy is a handsome young boy with a terrible past. He is about 2 years old, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and Heartworm negative. He came to us as from a shelter, where he had been held as party of a cruelty case. He was being starved and not cared for at all. This sweet boy wants nothing but love. He is very eager to learn and would be so easy to treat train. He is a bit enthusiastic about his food, since he came from a home where he was not getting much. So, we prefer he go to a home with no small children. He has not been aggressive at all with my hands in his bowl, but if a dog comes around, he is very reactive, growls and hovers over his bowl. If he is to be adopted in a home with other pets, I stress that the MUST be fed seperately and given treats seperately.....He would thrive well in an only dog home as well. He gets along with dogs, but does not need dogs as his company. NO CATS.

Story
Tater is a sweet old man that came from a local shelter last year in July. He has been in a great foster home, but has not found his forever home yet. He is about 9 years old, but still has a lot of spunk in him. He loves the garden hose a little too much, so will get very excited if you bring it out. He's an all around great boy that does well with dogs of all sizes great and small. He also loves children. Unsure about cats. Foster does not have them

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 4/7/2022 Reason for being in rescue: Reuger was found as a stray by a staff member. Though his owners were found, they were unable to keep him and surrendered him to rescue. Foster location: Meet me in Ardsley, NY on April 27, 2024! Special Needs? Reuger is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. Weight: 44 lbs Height: 20 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Reuger needs an experienced owner that is committed to giving this high-energy boy plenty of positive opportunities to get his energy out. Reuger has been in a foster home with several large dogs, small dogs, and cats. He has done exceptionally well. He rarely meets a dog that is not his friend. He would be suited for a home with any range of animal companions.  Reuger is a lover and is looking for a family who is seeking a loving dog. Reuger's favorite place to be is right next to his person. Reuger loves to be on the go, we cannot express that he needs to exercise. Reuger is looking for a regular hiker and someone who enjoys life on the move. We feel Reuger would be content in just about any home with the time to give him play time and mental stimulation. Reuger would do well with children 10 and older, he is goofy and tends to forget he is a big boy from time to time. Reuger is looking for a family environment where he is included in life. Reuger is a stunning young man and has been looking for his forever home for quite some time, we are hoping you can give Reuger the forever home he deserves.  What is my personality like? Reuger was found chasing a butterfly on the side of a busy highway. Oblivious to the dangers of cars, and happy to go for a ride, he just wanted to have fun. Though Reuger is microchipped, and his owners were contacted, they never came to get their boy and he was surrendered to rescue. The best way to describe Reguer is high energy. Friendly. Playful. Did we mention high energy! Reuger is super sweet and ready to GO! This bright boy will need his intelligent brain exercised regularly, along with his growing body. Even with all of this energy, Reuger is eager for belly rubs and cuddles, too. Reuger has done well with crate training, especially when given frequent potty breaks before bedtime. Reuger is crate-trained, leash-trained, house-trained, and knows several basic commands. Reuger completed an 8-week clicker training course hosted by our friends at Barkers Anonymous in Hendersonville, NC.  The gift of this training is sponsored by the Holly Fund and is uniquely designed for dogs in foster care to learn new skills and new confidence to allow them to transition to new homes. He was the star of the show and displayed extraordinary skills. He is attentive and eager to learn. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly, Reuger never meets a stranger! Other tips and tidbits: Reuger was found as a stray so we have no history on him. We celebrate his birthday as 08/07/2021. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. April 25, 2024, 7:36 pm

Her family realized they could not provide what Mindy needed.  Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms  Special Needs? Mindy is nervous dog who will need a family that is home more than they are away.  Weight: 72 lbs  Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Mindy's story is one of love and loss. She was adopted as a young puppy and sadly returned to rescue as a confused adult. She has settled into life in rescue and built the confidence she needs for a forever home. Mindy is not the dog for first time dog owners. She is smart and eager to learn, but skittish when meeting new people and protective of her crate. Mindy needs an experienced owner that will reinforce positive behaviors and participate in positive reinforcement training. Mindy gets along great with dogs her size or bigger. Mindy could do great in a home with older children experienced with dogs. What is my personality like? Mindy started her life out here at the farm. She along with a few siblings were born right here! She was adopted out and unfortunately returned. She was returned because she was more dog than the person adopted her expected her to be. When Mindy got here she was so confused, broken and honestly terrified. She would only interact with one of the employees for a little. With quite a few cheeseburgers, quick interactions and always acknowledging her; she finally came around. She realized that we were here to help, not hurt. Over the course of a few weeks, she learned to love all of her caregivers with every ounce of her being. Mindy is just as cuddly as a teddy bear. She loves to give huge hugs and kisses! Mindy loves her stuffed babies, treats and you! She can be a little barky when it comes to her being in her crate. Maybe even a little barrier reactive while in her crate. Mindy is full of love, life and energy. With that being said, she would greatly benefit from some training classes, she isn’t a baby anymore but she is still young! Mindy has the potential to be the ideal loving, velcro family dog. Mindy would love to accompany you on long hikes, walks or just a casual day at the dog park. Mindy has a play group with quite a lot of fellow large dogs and she absolutely loves it! Mindy is beyond ready to start her new, improved life with her family. She is waiting for you! Mindy loves to play with puzzle games. She is a very bight and intelligent girl and loves to learn new things. She would do well in a home that would provide her with both physical and mental stimulation games. How do I act when I first meet new people? Mindy is a nervous dog that needs to take things slow. She can be skittish and unsure of what is happening around her. After she is sure that a person is safe they quickly become her favorite thing in the whole world. Mindy does better when there are other dogs around at first. She learns a lot about what is happening around her by relying on her canine companions to show her what to do. Other tips and tidbits: Mindy's birthday is 5/30/20. She is good with cats and smaller dogs.  House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Smokey is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 66 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $199 Fence needed? Yes, Smokey requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller What kind of home would be best for me? Smokey is a wonderful boy looking for a home filled with adventure. He is great with other large dogs. He's curious about small dogs and cats; we don't recommend a home with these. Smokey is looking for an active home that wants an adventure buddy. He'd love someone home during the day or someone that can come home and offer him lots of physical and mental stimulation. Smokey would be good with children over 10. What is my personality like? Smokey was found tied to our gate one morning when our caregivers arrived for work. Wearing a collar with his name embroidered on it, it was clear he'd been loved and his family was desperate. Sadly, his best friend and canine sister had eaten her way out of her collar and was hit by a car and killed in front of our rescue. It's a tragic new start for Smokey, but we know his future is bright! Smokey enjoys meeting new people and going on adventures. He is very people friendly and loves snuggles and attention. This big boy is a true lovebug at heart and likes being the center of attention. Smokey loves fluffy beds, toys, sunbathing outdoors, and playing with his favorite female canines. Smokey is searching for a home where he can receive lots of outdoor activity (a fenced in yard would be best), lots of stimulation, and lots of attention from his humans. He loves going on walks and seeing new places/things. He walks decently on leash, but does pull quite a bit. His ideal home would consist of a younger couple/family with no tiny humans and a large yard to run and play in. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly Other tips and tidbits: Smokey arrived in rescue as a stray so we have no history on his life before us. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 3 years old. We celebrate his birthday 8/2/2020. House trained?
