Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 5/20/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Found as a stray about 1/2 mile from our rescue and brought in by a concerned citizen who could not leave the tiny pup on the side of the road Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Sage is up to date on vaccines for her age. She is scheduled for spay the first week of September and will be available after that date. Sage was hairless as a puppy, a victim of demodex mange most likely caused by stress of a difficult start in life.  She looks amazing now, sleek and beautiful.   Weight: 30 lbs Height: 21 in Spayed/Neutered: Spay is not spayed. This is planned for early September. She will be spayed prior to adoption. Adoption Fee: $299 -  This adoption fee will be increasing effective 11/01/2025. Fence needed? Yes, Sage requires a physically fenced in yard of 4 feet or higher.  What kind of home would be best for me?  Sage is looking for a home who is looking for that special someone who stands out over all the rest. This is what she is practicing to be - the dog you never forget.  While with us, Sage has grown into a truly special dog—equal parts wild child and cuddle bug. With structure, patience, and a sense of humor, she’s going to be someone’s heart dog. Sage must have a playful, high-energy dog buddy in her new home. Her current besties are a standard poodle and another pit bull mix, and she thrives with that level of energy and interaction. Her next door neighbor best friend is a cav-a-poo the same age as she is and they are partners in crime and mischief.  She’ll absolutely need a friend to wrestle with, nap next to, and learn from. What is my personality like? Sage is a young American Pit Bull mixed with just a dash of brat. She’s a mischievous pup with a sparkle in her eye and a plan in her heart—usually involving something she shouldn’t be chewing. Sage was originally found as a stray; a passerby noticed a clearly neglected puppy on the side of the road. Like any good human would, they stopped. Sage hopped right into the car, thrilled to be rescued. This kind lady drove half a mile down the road and found herself at the poodle farm.  She stopped and knocked and the rest is history.  Sage stayed with us. When she arrived, Sage was in rough shape—covered in sores and missing over 75% of her fur. She was pitiful, but a vet visit revealed the culprit: demodex mange, a non-contagious skin condition caused by microscopic mites that live in hair follicles. It’s often the result of an immature immune system, especially in young dogs. The good news - it’s very treatable, and Sage has recovered completely.  Her beautiful black coat now shines nicely with health and vitality.  She’s finally feeling like the playful pup she was meant to be. Let’s talk personality. Sage is confident, chaotic, and proud of it. Every paper towel she shreds is an artistic expression—and she’ll absolutely look you in the eye to ask if you’re proud of her masterpiece. Sage is one of those dogs who will always keep herself entertained, she's frequently seen chasing her own tail, throwing the toys for herself, and bribing her foster siblings into a game of wrestling. She’s all things puppy: curious, energetic, and in need of clear boundaries and structure. Sage is all about water, this girl loves to roll all around in the creeks. She splashes in and out and encourages her foster siblings to do the same. Sage is a water dog at heart and requests that her family take her out to splash in the water often.  Sage is smart, but she needs guidance. Her new home should be committed to consistent, positive reinforcement training. Short sessions that reward good choices with treats and praise will help her blossom. She thrives on routine, so regular schedules for meals, walks, and playtime will make her feel secure. Mental stimulation is just as important—puzzle toys, sniffy games, and teaching her new tricks will go a long way in keeping her out of trouble (or at least some of it). Socialization is key at this stage in her life, and she’ll need help gaining confidence with new sights, sounds, and people in a positive, slow-paced way. While Sage is all things chaos, she's also all things sweet and cuddly. Sage loves to sleep in bed cuddled up with her foster mom. She loves to snuggle with her canine siblings; she loves to have a friend. Sage loves to watch television with her neighbors (yes, Sage frequently visits the neighbors, she's a popular girl) Sage is ready to sneak into your life and be the best pup you have ever met! How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly, Sage never meets a stranger! Other tips and tidbits: Based on teeth and body development, Sage was estimated at 5 months old when she arrived in rescue. We celebrate her birthday January 20, 2025! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. November 11, 2025, 5:03 pm

Story
Cornbread is nearly 1.5 years old. He is a good dog, he really is. But for him to have his best possible life, he needs an owner or family who is active & able to give him the time he deserves. He is playful but can be destructive if unsupervised, loving but clingy, silly but quick to learn. We adopted Cornbread in Jan 2025 with the best of intentions but recent life & job changes have meant that he's been home alone in his crate a lot more than expected, which is just not fair to him. He needs a home who can spend more time with him, play & exercise with him, continue his training, give him mental stimulation, & give him the patience and love he deserves. He is good with other dogs of all sizes. He is been good with our cats (he wants to be friends but they are not interested). Unsure how he is with young kids but I would not anticipate any issues. We can provide toys, crate, & collar if needed. If you have any questions or are interested in adopting Cornbread, please reach out.

Story
Looking for a new fur-iend? Look no further than Kayak! This fun-loving, affectionate, and loyal fella is the perfect addition to your family. Not only is he friendly and loyal, he's also a bit of a comedian - always making his human friends laugh. He's a clever boy who loves to show off his tricks (and he has a lot of them!). He's also a total couch potato and loves nothing more than a good snuggle sesh. Kayak is great with other dogs. So if you're looking for a sweet, funny, and adorable dog, Kayak is the one for you! Meet Kayak! Breed: lab/pit bull mix. Age: almost 4 years (est birthdate 1/30/22) Weight: approx 50lbs right now. Training: crate, leash, and house trained. He could use more practice on the leash. Good with other dogs/cats? Yes to both! Good with adults/kids? Yes, although he can be a little reserved at first. Personality: reserved at first, but that doesn't last long, he warms up to be very silly, submissive, friendly, playful. Loves toys and belly rubs. He is very loyal. Reason for rescue: originallly - dumped in a neighborhood. Kayak was adopted as a pup. Recently, we received a call from animal control through his microchip that he had been picked up. Apparently, the adopter rehomed him without reaching out to us at all. They didn't even have the name of the 'current owner' they rehomed him to. We commit to our animals for life, they ALWAYS have a safe place to come back to. Kayak needs and deserves a FOREVER home! Kayak is neutered, heartworm negative, microchipped, and current on vaccinations and preventatives. If interested in adding this sweet baby to your family, please message for an adoption application! Adoption fee: $75.November 4, 2025, 9:43 am

Meet Beauty! Age: approx 11 months, est birthdate 12/23/24. Breed: mixed, DNA shows 34% pit bull, 25% husky, 13% cattle dog, 5% golden retriever and remaining % supermutt (German shepherd, chihuahua, American Eskimo, etc). She is 100% adorable! :) Size: 30ish pounds, we believe she will be about 35ish lbs. Training: crate, leash, and house trained. Good with dogs/cats? She has done well with dogs and cats, however she doesn't do well with small animals such as chickens. Good with men/women/kids? Yes. Personality: friendly, affectionate, and playful, loyal, eager to please. Reason for rescue: accidental litter. She was recently returned for not doing well with the other dog in the home. She has done well with a variety of dogs in her foster home of all sizes. She is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations and preventatives. If you are interested in adding this sweet girl to your family, please message for an adoption application. Adoption fee: $75.November 21, 2025, 8:00 pm

Story
Meet Charlotte aka Lotte! Age: approx 9 years. Breed: pit bull mix. Size: approx 45-50lbs. Training: leash and crate trained, she is doing well with house training. Good with dogs/cats? She can be dog selective, but she coexists well. Good with men/women/kids? Yes! She loves EVERYONE! Personality: friendly, affectionate. Loves to cuddle. Reason for rescue: Charlotte was turned into a kill shelter after her owners claimed she bit them. This sweet girl isn't aggressive AT ALL. But because they claimed that, the shelter marked her rescue only and she was scheduled to be killed if no rescue stepped up. A foster volunteered to save her just in time. We don't know the situation surrounding Lotte's surrender. We do know from experience, sometimes people lie to make themselves look better when getting rid of their dog. Come meet Lotte and decide for yourself. She is the sweetest girl! Lotte is spayed, heartworm negative, microchipped and current on vaccinations and preventatives. If you are interested in adding this sweet lady to your family, please message for an adoption application. Adoption fee: no fee to the perfect forever home! (Our usual screening process still applies).November 19, 2025, 10:20 am
