Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Enzo is an old soul who has the sweetest disposition. His eyes show his deep desire for connection with humans. He has come so far since being in his foster home. He was pulled from a local shelter who rescued him from a life on his own, having very little human contact as a young puppy. Enzo trusts and loves other dogs very much and is learning not all humans wish to cause him harm. He is attached to his foster family (adults and children) and trusts them. Despite his days being full of learning new things, he has been so sweet and patient considering everything is a new experience. Enzo initially did not like being put on a leash, but after taking long daily leash walks with his foster family, he has come to love them and walks with his tail held high.  Enzo would love to have a K9 companion and is very close to his foster brother, Luca. They would love to be adopted together.  Enzo's pictures are deceiving. He is a petite guy at only 40lbs. Enzo is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, tested heartworm negative and on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.  * This dog's adoption fee is $275Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/. The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care. Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy. We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter. CVRR is a nonprofit organization. We have no paid staff, and all applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it may take 7-14 days to process your application, check your references, and gather follow-up info. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone numbers and email addresses for your vet and landlord references, and by answering each question fully. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the animal picks you, too. If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, we will collect the adoption fee and complete the adoption contract. CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization, and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal must be returned to CVRR. We will reevaluate the animal and choose a new home based on the best fit for it. May 8, 2024, 2:06 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Zilla, once adored by his owner, now finds his future unsure. His owner passed away in April and the relative that’s been caring for him it too senior to continue in a permanent bases. His vet paper lists Belgian Malinois Mix and he weighs 70 lbs. He’s about 20 inches in height and approximately 6 years old.  Zilla has had two previous owners- both passed away. He's highly intelligent and loyal. He would bring his owner his shoes one at a time, remote, his leash when commanded. Just the other night he picked up paper plate for his elderly caretaker. He doesn't bother the trash can with food in it, and is just a well mannered fellow.  When his owners health allowed, he took Zilla on frequent outings to Tractor Supply, Walmart , Etc where he enjoyed meeting new people. He sometimes barks at other dogs so we aren’t sure how he would do in a multi dog household. He also tries to chase cats so we are seeking a feline free household.  Zilla his neutered, chipped, and his rabies vaccination is current. He is generally a mellow guy and is used to being indoors. he is a big snuggle bug and would enjoy long rainy Saturdays watching Netflix. Unfortunately, with his owners passing he has no where to go. All his surviving relatives have kitties and they are heartbroken not to have any good options available for Zilla.  we really hope the right family stumbles across Zillows face and falls in love.  CVRR is listing this dog as a *COURTESY* to the actual owner. This dog is not currently in the care of CVRR, so CVRR makes no representations or guarantees for the animals behavior, demeanor or health assessment. All information listed has been given by the current dogs owner, and should be verified by any interested potential adopter.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 8, 2024, 2:06 pm

Story
Shellie came to the pound as a stray when she was 5 months of age; therefore, we do not know much about her. She appears to have Boxer traits by jumping around and wiggling her back end and terrier markings. Shellie is coming along in her training to be a great companion animal, although she still has lots of puppy energy as a 1 year old. Shellie has been with trainers to teach her basic commands, recall, in home skills, and walking on a leash. This beautiful girl has a big personality! At a year old, Shelly just loves life, especially playing and exploring. She has made good progress with basic manners while in her foster home, but she still needs help fine tuning her leash manners and evaluating her social skills. She is very athletic and has lots of drive, so channeling that drive in an appropriate manner is key to fulfilling her needs and keep her from getting destructive (lots of structured play time through tug, chasing toys, and safe toys/bones for chewing). She’s improving with her house manners, beautifully sits at doors until released and is crate trained. She still requires supervision inside the home when not in her crate as that active mind will get her into trouble until she is more mature! Shelly is dog friendly; however, she has the tendency to become aroused too quickly and during play with another dog it can turn south fast. This isn’t uncommon with terrier breeds, so taking her to the dog park or dog daycare is not recommended for her. With a high prey drive, placement in a home without other dogs or smaller dogs/pets is ideal unless the family has experience living with strong breeds. However, if you currently have a dog, we recommend a with your dog as part of the adoption process. Shellie has been dewormed, microchipped, is free of external parasites, and has received the Distemper-Parvo combination vaccine. Since he is not yet spayed, therefore she is not available for adoption outside of the counties contiguous to Bedford County. For more information, please call the Bedford Humane Society at 540-586-6100, or go to https://www.bhsva.org/adoptables to fill out an adoption application.
