Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. It’s Showtime… we thought this boy was a puppy when we first took him in. Closer examination, and working with him for several weeks, convinces us now that he is more likely at least two years old, and his worn teeth indicate he may be older. showtime is neutered and is being treated for a skin infection. He has not had opportunity to play with other dogs until recently, and we have discovered he is going to need guidance during playtime because he has no clue what is appropriate or how to play. He is a smallish boy, about 35 pounds, and loves humans! we would love to give him a chance to learn to play nicely with other dogs, but it will take some observation on his part, and a very patient partner Dog, willing to correct him and guide him. Showtime can be adopted, if you are willing to work with him         Showtime is making huge progress with his socialization, and loves seeing volunteers come to take him out now. He is accepting of slow approach, but still a bit handshy. After being found hanging out in a storage shed and being rescued by the employees there, Showtime is ready to move forward to the new life of love and luxury we promise the dogs in our care. Help Showtime's life be better! Can you give him a home?     PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at FOACinfo@gmail.com. All adoptions begin with an application, found under the "Animals" tab on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty.org. *Unaltered babies under the age of six months can be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County. *Unaltered adult pets six months or older will need to be sterilized before they can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell. *We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice. *We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 23, 2024, 8:23 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sweet Esther! After seven days with us, she is still flighty, but now she at least will eat her food and take her meds as required. Esther’s  background was as a stray, abandoned on a rural county road, apparently within just a few days of her giving birth. No puppies were found, and there was no indication that they had ever nursed on her. she was producing milk and still had post-partum discharge when she was found. she has already had a vet visit, and bloodwork indicates she is anemic as well as fighting off an infection of unknown source, so we are medicating her and keeping it close eye on her as we socialize her daily. She still does not want to walk on her own outside the shelter,  and volunteers are carrying her so she can sit outside and get some sunlight and fresh air daily. She appears to be OK with other dogs, but it’s difficult to tell when she is in such rough shape as we do not want to traumatize her further. She’s very frightened when exposed to new people and new sounds. If you’re interested in helping Esther, we would love to hear from you. Foster applications are found on our site, and we would love to process them quickly. Go to friendsofcampbellcounty.org, under the “how to help” heading, to find a foster application and information.     PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Enzo is an old soul who has the sweetest disposition. His eyes show his deep desire for connection with humans. He has come so far since being in his foster home. He was pulled from a local shelter who rescued him from a life on his own, having very little human contact as a young puppy. Enzo trusts and loves other dogs very much and is learning not all humans wish to cause him harm. He is attached to his foster family (adults and children) and trusts them. Despite his days being full of learning new things, he has been so sweet and patient considering everything is a new experience. Enzo initially did not like being put on a leash, but after taking long daily leash walks with his foster family, he has come to love them and walks with his tail held high.  Enzo would love to have a K9 companion and is very close to his foster brother, Luca. They would love to be adopted together.  Enzo's pictures are deceiving. He is a petite guy at only 40lbs. Enzo is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, tested heartworm negative and on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.  * This dog's adoption fee is $275Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/. The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care. Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy. We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter. CVRR is a nonprofit organization. We have no paid staff, and all applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it may take 7-14 days to process your application, check your references, and gather follow-up info. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone numbers and email addresses for your vet and landlord references, and by answering each question fully. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the animal picks you, too. If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, we will collect the adoption fee and complete the adoption contract. CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization, and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal must be returned to CVRR. We will reevaluate the animal and choose a new home based on the best fit for it. April 23, 2024, 10:05 pm

What a sweetheart. He walks well on a leash. Very calm low energy for only being a year old. He has very good manners. Just a beautiful boy. He gets along well with other dogs, even when they have a bad attitude.
