Name: Elmo Age: 9 months Breed (as listed on paperwork): Pit mix Gender: Male Weight: 50 pounds Altered: Yes Crate trained: Yes Housebroke: Working on it Good with kids: Yes Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Yes Foster location: Milwaukee area Fee: $150 that includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations at the time of adoption, microchip and health certificate. Please apply for me at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HFAH/Dog (403644-DS) **Meet and greets for approved applicants must happen within 3 days or the closest weekend (for long travelers). It’s in the dogs/puppies best interest to be placed into their furever homes in a timely fashion. All household members must attend the meet and greet. Fun bio: I’m Elmo, a red nose pit mix with a heart of gold, a huge smile, and a ray-of-sunshine personality. In fact, Walking on Sunshine should be my theme song. I was in the shelter for a long time, so I am still working on my house manners and getting used to all the things that happen in a house but I’m really smart, pick up on training quickly (though I could definitely use more training!), and I’m so happy all the time. I can be a little shy when I meet new people but once I know you, you’ll get all the love and doggie kisses you can handle. I have four doggie siblings and three human kid siblings in my foster home, and I love them all. Sometimes I love them a little too much and don’t always understand when they don’t want to play. There are no cats in my foster home but the people at the shelter said that I’m good with cats. I have lots of puppy energy and would love an active home and a doggie companion to run and play with. If you’re looking for a happy, goofy, and loyal addition to your family, I am your guy!

Story
Leo is a young adult pit bull who came to the shelter about a month ago from some difficult circumstances. He was very frightened, and it took a team effort to gain his trust. Leo is a dog who needs you to show him first that you trust him before he will trust you. In a very short time, Leo has gone from a cowering, frightened dog to one who is happy to see those who he has connected with here at the shelter. He loves to go for car rides, is learning to walk on a leash, and will do just about anything to get his butt scratched. He was recently neutered, thanks to one of the generous staff members here at JCAS who is committed to finding Leo a good home. Leo would not be a good fit for a first time dog owner, and would do best with adults only or a household with older children. Introductions should be at Leo's comfort and pace. If you are lucky enough to gain his trust, you will have the best and most loyal companion for the rest of his life! Please call us at 715-284-0251 to make an appointment to meet Leo.

Story
Meet Robin, the delightful 11-year-old spayed female dog who has captured the hearts of our shelter staff but has yet to find her forever home. Despite her gentle nature and undeniable charm, Robin has not had a single meet and greet since she arrived at the shelter. Robin is a seasoned companion who knows the ins and outs of canine companionship. With her years of experience, she's mastered the art of loyalty, affection, and companionship. Whether it's curling up on the couch for a cozy nap or providing a comforting presence during quiet moments, Robin is always there to brighten your day. Despite her age, Robin still has plenty of love to give and is eager to form a deep bond with her future family. She's a low-maintenance companion who is content with the simple pleasures in life, like leisurely walks in the park or relaxing strolls around the neighborhood. While Robin may not have had the opportunity for meet and greets yet, she's more than ready to find her forever home and become a cherished member of a loving family. However, it's important to note that Robin prefers to be the only dog in the house, ensuring that she receives all the attention and affection she deserves. Although she hasn't had meet and greets, Robin has had positive experiences with younger kids in her life. If you're looking for a mature and affectionate canine companion to bring warmth and joy into your home, look no further than Robin. Despite her lack of meet and greets, she's patiently waiting for that special someone to open their heart and give her the loving home she deserves. Story
Bruno came into ACHS as a stray on 4/21/23 after his owner abandoned him at a friend's home. This gorgeous fella is very sweet and calm with people. He loves kids, but needs to be in a home without small children because he is super strong and might accidentally knock them over. When I go in to spend time with Bruno he immediately sits on my lap!Unfortunately, Bruno has shown aggression to other dogs at the shelter. This could change outside of this environment and with dedicated training! However, we will only allow him to be adopted into a home with no dogs or cats.If you have room in your heart and home for Bruno please give us a call at (608)339-6700.
