Story
Fat Louie is a very calm, quiet cat 7 year old cat. She is not active unless motivated. I adopted Fat Louie from my friend and she lived with me for sometime now. She wasn't spayed until she was almost 3 and she became my pet at 4 years of age. We have moved from Virginia to Illinois and I feel that my fast lifestyle is a bit much for her. She loves to be around her parent daily and I am not around enough for her. I feel she has anxiety from her previous owner. Fat Louie is very reserved and open to meeting new people but she doesn't like other animals. She does live with her other adopted sister Bailey but they do not get along. She needs a normal same routine daily. Change is not appealing to her. She naps and does the same activities daily and her new parent needs to be ready to give her a lot of attention. She likes to be under you at all times.

Story
Lucy is one of the most human friendly cats I have ever met. She loves to be held over your shoulder like a baby and will "hug" with her paws. She can lay on or near you and purr while you pet her for hours!! Unfortunately our existing cat does not get along with Lucy. As a result we've had a gate separating our home for over a year. She does not get the attention she deserves and my husband is going through cancer treatment and needs to be able to walk through the house without a gate blocking him. Lucy has a very sensitive stomach we discovered when we adopted her. After trial and error, we learned She cannot tolerate dry food and instead we feed her half a can of wet twice a day. We've found the best is Wellness digestive health. It is expensive (for those who may be worried about that) and it's around $100 a month for food. We can provide an auto feeder for the overnight feedings, litter boxes, toys, anything else you might need. We love her so much.

I AM IN FOSTER CARE! PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION, ONCE APPROVED, GIVE US A CALL AND WE CAN SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR YOU TO MEET ME! Born: 3/30/2017 Adoption Donation: $50 Pineapple can be a great companion as long as you respect his boundaries. He enjoys being in your company and observing your activities, often in anticipation of a treat. He is highly motivated by food and not very fussy about what he eats. Pineapple enjoys sharing your bed and playing with strings and laser pointers. He finds watching birds and squirrels entertaining. You'll be pleased to know that Pineapple is diligent about using the litter box and only scratches designated scratchers, not your furniture. All in all, he's a low-maintenance cat. All cats are microchippped, neutered, current on all vaccines, and FeLV/FIV tested at the time of adoption. All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present at the time of your appointment. The shelter is currently open by appointment only with an approved application. Please note, all applications are considered general and stay on file for 6 months. Specific animals are NOT put on hold for adoption. When you visit, the adoption counselors will be able to make suggestions based on the type of pet you are looking for and help you find the best fit for your family. Story
Name: TeriyakiBreed: ShorthairDOB: 04/30/2022Good with kids: Yes Good with dogs: UnsureGood with cats: YesFoster location: Belvidere, ILAdoption fee: $50Fun Bio: Meet Teriyaki! This formerly "spicy" boy was found outside as an older kitten all alone, struggling to surivive. He was trapped and brought indoors where he's learned humans are good (in general and as can-openers). He is still a little on the shy side, but warms up with you once he's comfortable. He LOVES food, cat nip and playing in boxes! He's a pretty quiet dude who won't make a fuss or insist you pay attention to him. But he does enjoy coming up on your lap for cuddles and pets. He enjoys chin scratches and pets! He isn't a huge fan of dogs, but does enjoy playing with other cats! He really needs the right person to help this guy reach his full potential. Are you that person? If interested in a pet from us please fill out the adoption application that is located on our website.  We process applications in the order in which they are received.  We will likely not respond to interest emails regarding puppies and/or kittens, we get so many "interest" emails that we simply do not have the time to respond to each one.  We always recommend playtime, positive reinforcement training and a regular schedule for feeding times when bringing a new cat/kitten into your home. Adjustment takes time for both you and your new family member, so remember to be patient and enjoy this new and exciting time!Included in the adoption fee are age appropriate vaccinations, FeLV/FIV testing, deworming, spay or neuter surgery, and microchip.Anti-Declawing Policy:All cats and kittens will have a no declaw policy in their adoption contract with us!  Declawing is a series of bone amputations.  Declawing is more accurately described by the term de-knuckling and is not merely the removal of the claws, as the term “declawing” implies.  In humans, fingernails grow from the skin, but in animals that hunt prey, the claws grow from the bone; therefore, the last bone is amputates so the claw cannot re-grow.  Declawing is one of the most painful, routinely performed procedures in all of veterinary medicine.  Each toe of the cat is amputated at the first joint.  Declawing a cat is equivalent in a person to amputating the entire first knuckle of every finger. Declawing is done strictly for the benefit of the owner.  There are NO benefits to the cat and NO good reasons to declaw.Declawing can lead to behavior changes.  A declawed cat has no way to defend itself and may resort to biting more often.  Due to pain, they may stop using the litterbox. There are humane alternatives to declawing.  Cats can be trained to use scratching posts.  They should have their nails trimmed regularly.  There is double sided sticky tape that can be put on furniture to deter a cat from scratching there.  There are also nail caps called Soft Paws that are glued onto a cat’s nails without harm.  ##1468460##
