Story
Hi, my name is Avril. My birthday is September 23rd. During the warmer days my friends let me have a pool. I love the water, especially when it is super hot! I love lounging around in my pool, playing with my kennel mate Beckett, and trading loving for some treats. I have some energy and like to play, but mostly I like just napping. I would love a good lap to lay on.

Story
Meet Trey! The perfectly pocket sized pittie whose only flaw is his inability to keep his tongue in his mouth. Don’t let Trey’s age fool you, this guy has plenty of energy and is ready to run straight into your heart. Trey is an adventurous, curious guy who’s also down to curl up on the couch for a nap. Trey loves every person and every dog he’s ever encountered and would appreciate being a part of a pack, especially of larger dogs he can chase around a yard and cuddle puddle with. He knows no strangers and his love knows no bounds. Trey has been through a lot over the years. In his original intake at FOR he was suffering from gunshot wounds and 2 broken legs. And yet, after that and his family relocating, he is still so trusting and gentle. You may see evidence of his hard past in the way he flinches when he doesn’t see your hand coming, but his healing is evident in how quickly he melts into the pets afterwards. Trey knows basic commands and is fully housetrained. He is around 60 lbs and believed to be around 9 years old. He is fully vaccinated, on monthly flea & tick prevention, and recently underwent treatment for heartworms. He is fostered in Huntsville, AL, and is available for meet & greets there, if adopted from outside the area his foster has agreed to travel up to 200 miles for transport at no charge to the adopter. Trey has not been tested with cats, and will only be placed in a home with adults and older children (no babies or toddlers).

Story
If boisterous and beautiful is your kind of gal, meet Norma! She truly embraces life, with a long list of things she loves that includes romping in the yard, squeaking the squeak out of squeaky toys, playing tug, polishing her already good obedience skills (with a few yummy treats for motivation) and so much more. But don't feel left out - she also enjoys her people-time. In fact, she'll push through a loose gate to come be with you, so a secure yard is key. Due to her play style and energy, she is recommended as companion for dogs her own size only, kids 10+, and no cats please.  Norma has EPI, a condition that is manageable with a low-fat diet and enzyme supplements. Please ask the shelter for details.  ***Our pups don't tell us who their parents are - BREED is a GUESS*** ~  Est DOB:  Jan 2018 ~  Intake weight:  59#  ~  Adoption details/application:  calhouncountyhs.blogspot.com/p/adopt.html  January 24, 2025, 9:51 pm

Story
Johnny is a big beefy dog looking for a big beefy guy (or gal) to pal around with! Throw on your matching tank tops and do your workouts together (you're sure to turn heads), followed by a long session tossing the ball around (he never passed a ball he didn't want to pick up), followed by maybe some weight lifting (he'll be your squatty spotter), followed by...yes, you guessed it, Johnny is all go! He's a bit of a freight train on leash and just enough of a bowling ball to knock over small kids, so an adult-only, active, breed aware home is going to be the best fit. Johnny is not compatible with other animals, so make sure you are going to the private gym (not to be mistaken with the dog park).  Est DOB:  Oct 2017 * Est weight: 75# January 1, 2026, 11:05 pm

Story
Hi, Mylo is a 2-year-old rescue dog with the sweetest, derpiest personality. He loves being outside, playing, and being close to his person,if he could lay on your entire body, he absolutely would. I rescued him from a shelter in San Diego when he was just 6 weeks old, and since then he has been incredibly loved and well cared for. He has traveled to many states with me, is fully potty trained, and is very well behaved in public. Mylo can be a bit nervous at times and really thrives on companionship and interaction. He does best with someone who can give him consistent attention and reassurance. I now have a very young child, and while I love Mylo deeply, managing the early stages of parenthood alongside a dog who needs more interaction than I can currently provide has been very challenging. This decision comes from a place of love and honesty,I want Mylo to have the life, attention, and presence he truly deserves.

Story
Hilo (hee-low) is a wonderful 3-year-old female dog. We love her to pieces. She is good with kids and most other dogs. She has trauma with small dogs that occurred previous to us adopting her (we worked with a trainer to see if we could work it out, but it didn't help). We need to rehome her because she and our older dog do not get along anymore which creates an unsafe environment for our new twin babies. She is high energy but loves to snuggle and burrow under blankets. She is on allergy pills for normal skin allergies expected in her breed. She is very trainable and a people pleaser.
