Story
Hi, name is Buddy! I moved to the Okanagan this summer! When I first arrived here, I was feeling a bit down and not as physically fit as wished I was, but in the last couple of months I have made improvements. Adventures to the local lakes to swim, sun tanning, playing ball, and hiking the local trails have definitely changed how I feel and appear. I am shiny and I have muscles now! I am a great communicator; I wiggle my forehead and eyes, wink, sigh, groan, or give long gazes to show what I feel or need. If a stranger knocks on the door, I bark once to alert my foster family and then we say a friendly hello to whoever is visiting. I really enjoy car rides, playing fetch, and eating sweet potato treats. I do get itchy skin if I eat people food. I am great on a leash, I listen and stay right by your side, because I love walking and sniffing all the cool smells on the trails. I am great at making kindling when I am given a stick to chew on, but I am gentle with my mouth when taking treats and kisses. if you are interested in adopting, please fill in an adoption application below:https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-vernon/ Primary Color: Grey Weight: 30.7 Age: 7yrs 3mths 0wks

Story
Hellooo out there! My name is Pipa and here's some more about me: Breed: Staffordshire Terrier mix Age: 4 years approx. Gender: Female Weight: 55lbs (25 kg) Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico RESCUE STORY - I was living on the streets when my rescuers found me and this wasn't to my liking at all! I was desperately looking to be rescued...one day I got my lucky break when I spotted some hoomans assisting a couple of cows that were in trouble. Being the caring pup that I am, I decided to help too! I stood beside these kind people and gave them gentle kisses and encouragement until I saw the cows were safe. Once the rescue was complete, I jumped up and gave the hoomans a big hug! This was enough for them to decide to take me in and give me a fresh start at life (yay!). I've been patiently waiting for a furever family ever since. TEMPERAMENT - I am very sweet, playful, energetic and funny. My favourite thing to do in the world is to cuddle and play. I promise to take amazing care of my family and home! I really enjoy playing with other dogs, going for long walks/runs and making new friends. I am also very friendly with people and I could kiss and hug you all day long! I love people so much that I sometimes get very excited when new people or dogs come to say hi and I tend to jump to greet them (I am very food-motivated though so I think that this can be worked on with some training and treats!). Note that, because I am energetic, that sometimes makes me feel anxious when I'm home alone, especially if I'm inside the house. So if I have to stay home by myself, I do better on a patio/garden.  ENERGY LEVEL - High GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Yes, I love children.  Dogs – I have been with dogs (all kinds and sizes) and am friendly. I do, however, do better when I'm fed alone - You see, sometimes I think I'm more hungry than I am and I try to eat my other doggy friends' food hehe. Cats – Unknown PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – My rescuers say I am very good on a leash. I am food motivated (I love treats!) and respond well to gentle reassurance. House-trained – Yes, I like to go potty outside but I may need some additional training and patience to ensure I continue these good habits :) Crate trained – Not yet.  Car rides – I am good in car rides and enjoy them. Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain) to offer adopters one training session at a rate of $25. Any subsequent sessions will be offered at a rate of $50. WCP also highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives. HEALTH NOTES: Note that I have multiple scars on my body from my ruff life on the streets.  I am spayed and vaccinated. NOTE: dogs from Guadalajara are not microchipped. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $650.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. Story
Hello out there! I'm Kira and you can learn more about me here: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Staffordshire Terrier mix Age: 5 years 2 months approx. Gender: Female Weight: 44lbs (20 kg) Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico RESCUE STORY - Oooh my past life was a time I shudder to remember. A hooman adopted me thinking that she could give me what I needed but she instead brought me into a hoarding situation. At the time I was living with 20 cats (!) and my 4 puppies - the 4 that survived of the original 13 I had given birth to. One day my hooman got sick and everything got even worse for me and my puppies. Thankfully some other kind folks came to our rescue just in time! When they found me I was a pretty sad case. I had sarcoptic mange which caused my skin to scab and bleed, eye ulcers which caused my eyes to swell shut, malnutrition, and a serious case of doggy depression. Despite my state, I still took the time to give my rescuers soft kisses and show them my love and gratitude. I have now been nursed back to full health & have learned how to play and have fun (yes I had to learn this!).  TEMPERAMENT - I now have a new leash, er, lease on life! I am grateful and loving, and an all-around super sociable pup who enjoys the company of hoomans and doggies alike. Gone are my depression days, I am a very happy doggo now who is also known for my obedience, loyalty, and love of toys and food (who doesn't love food?!). I would love nothing more than a family to call my own, one who will promise to look after me forever and ever ENERGY LEVEL - Moderate to High GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown Dogs – Yep!! I'm a very friendly pup who enjoys the company of other doggos.  Cats – Unknown (no video evidence provided) but I was rescued from a house with 20 cats.  PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – My rescuers say I am pretty good with my leash skills, however I may need some additional patience and training as I love to say hi to everyone and other doggos. House trained – My rescuer says I may need some additional training and patience with this as I live at a shelter.  Crate trained – My rescuer says this is in progress but I may need some additional training and patience.  Car rides – I do okay in the car but it's not my favourite. HEALTH NOTES: I am spayed and vaccinated. NOTE: dogs from Guadalajara are not microchipped.
