Story
About a year ago, Chiquita was found in Mexico as a very sick stray. I adopted her after her health got better. She has been living with me for about a year. In the last few months, she has decided she wants to be the dominant dog in my house. She’s been OK with my very submissive dog, but not with my other one. There has been a few fights between them. At this point, I’m not able to leave her out to be able to roam through the house and backyard due to fear of a fight. She is extremely trained. She does agility. She is able to go out to restaurants and walk with my friend’s dogs. If introduced correctly! She definitely needs a house where she is the only dog. Preferably with someone that will continue with her training. Due to her health when she came from Mexico, she has some small kidney problems. She is on one medication called telmisartan that is given to her once a day on her food. This helps out with her pressure and her kidneys. It’s inexpensive about $15 every two months.

Story
Igor is a 6 year old mix looking for the perfect home for him. He loves snuggling on the couch, going on walks, and riding in the car! He loves getting pets and attention from every person he meets. Unfortunately, Igor has a traumatic past with other dogs and would do best in a home with no other dogs. He also has a prey-drive so a house with no cats either. He is very easy going at home. He loves to sleep, eat, and just be by your side on lazy days. Going for a car ride? Great! He loves sticking his head out the window to smell all the smells and people watch. He really is a “man’s best friend”. Please give Igor a chance! He’s ready to be your one and only companion.

Story
How Roxi arrived: Roxi was brought in by their previous owner. At SDHS:Roxi has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered and is now ready for her new home! Why Roxi might be the one for you:Lovely Roxi lived with one family her entire life before they moved out of the country and were forced to surrender her. She is in a foster home where she is thriving and being very spoiled.. She loves to go on walks and car rides. It is hard to know which she likes more. She goes zen on car rides as she calmly settles in for the ride. She also loves water. A car ride to the beach and a beach walk is probably her all time favorite thing to do. She is a sun bather and spends a lot of time in the backyard catching the rays. She is sweet and mellow, easy to care for, nonreactive to dogs or people while out and about and fully potty trained. She loves attention, belly rubs are her favorite and for any and all love/affection, she is all in. Do you have a yard for Roxy to lie in the sun? Will you take her on many walks, car rides and fun in the water? Oh, and she likes home cooked meals and wants to be the only dog in the household. We know that is a lot to ask but Roxi is looking for a special person who wants to continue spoiling a special dog. Could that be you? Primary Color: Blue Weight: 75 Age: 11yrs 3mths 4wks

Story
How this pet arrived: This pet was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team. Why this pet is the one for you:Flash is a high-energy, eager-to-please guy looking for his new best friend! Flash is still working on managing his excitement, but he has made great progress with positive reinforcement training. He's incredibly food-motivated, especially when cream cheese is involved, and loves going on walks - his favorite activity! Once out of the kennel, Flash walks with enthusiasm, and enjoys exploring his environment with plenty of sniffing and regular check-ins with his handler. He's affectionate and enjoys pets, especially after he's had a chance to burn off some energy. Flash would thrive in an active, adult-only home with adopters who are committed to continuing his training and providing him with daily exercise and enrichment. Flash has shown great responsiveness and potential - he's a smart, loving dog who's ready for his next adventure with the right person by his side. Adopt Flash and give him the chance to fill your life with joy, companionship and endless tail wags! At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home! Primary Color: Black Weight: 60 Age: 2yrs 3mths 1wks

Story
Meet Zeus – Your Gentle, Loyal Companion! Zeus is a sweet, calm, and loving boy who’s ready to find his forever home. Estimated to be around 4–5 years old and weighing about 55–60 lbs, Zeus was rescued in 2023 and has since blossomed into the most affectionate companion you could ask for. He’s amazing with kids, incredibly gentle with cats, and has done wonderfully around other dogs—especially when introduced with care. Zeus has a mellow personality and absolutely loves lounging in the sun, napping in the grass, and soaking up cuddles and belly rubs. He’s super food-motivated, which makes training a breeze! Zeus is currently thriving on a mix of dry food and Fresh Pet. He does have hip dysplasia, but it doesn’t slow him down—especially with his daily supplements (Welactin and Dasuquin) to keep him feeling his best. This sweet soul is looking for a loving, patient home where he’ll be cherished. If you're ready to open your heart to a loyal, sunshine-loving cuddle bug, Zeus is your guy.July 9, 2025, 2:49 am
