Story
Meet Kalle! A thoughtful twelve-and-a-half-year-old mixed-breed beauty currently living Doylestown, PA, whose striking white and black coat is just as unique as her personality. With her gentle eyes and cautious heart, Kalle may take her time getting to know new people, but once she’s decided you’re part of her circle, she becomes a fiercely loyal shadow and cuddle companion. At around 70 pounds, Kalle is a large lady with a medium energy level, happy to relax next to you while you read or snooze, but also up for a round of play with her favorite stuffed toys (which she proudly demolishes with gusto). She’s crate trained, house-trained, and knows a few fun commands like “sit,” “paw,” and “high five.” A fenced yard is a must for this girl, especially since she’s shown some herding instincts and can be a bit protective in unfamiliar settings. While she has nipped at heels and once bit a neighbor who taunted her, Kalle is very responsive to patient guidance and positive reinforcement once she feels secure. Kalle is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations but she is developing cataracts. Thunderstorms make her nervous, but otherwise, she handles short absences like a pro usually just curling up for a nap. She’s not a fan of cats and can be shy around other dogs, so slow introductions are key. Her favorite spot to sleep? At the foot of the bed, right near her person! Kalle has shared her days with her dear companion Maya, and the two have a sweet, quiet bond that brings them both comfort. While Kalle can absolutely thrive on her own with the right loving family, she would be overjoyed to find a new home where Maya can join her too. Could your home be the peaceful haven this gentle soul needs? Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about Kalle and the cozy companionship she’s ready to bring your way!

Story
Meet Opie! A spirited six-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix currently living in West Haven, CT, whose heart is as big as his 67-pound fawn brindle frame, complete with an adorable white patch on his chest. Opie is the kind of dog who knows how to balance adventure with affection—whether he’s conquering hiking trails, riding shotgun on car trips, or snuggling up on the couch with his favorite blanket. Opie is a brainy, athletic guy with a solid foundation of professional training under his belt. He’s house-trained, off-leash ready, and fluent in an impressive list of commands like sit, stay, down, come, place, and even "give hug"—yes, he’ll literally jump into your arms for a cuddle! He’s eager to learn, deeply loyal, and thrives with structure and companionship. While he does have a sensitive stomach, he’s otherwise in excellent health, fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. Opie’s perfect day includes a game of tug-of-war, basking in the sunshine, or curling up for a nap with his beloved blanket. But he’s just as happy lounging at your feet while you work. He’s a flexible, go-with-the-flow kind of guy, but he really shines when he gets regular exercise and mental stimulation. Now, Opie’s story does come with a chapter that needs thoughtful understanding. He has a bite history rooted in fear and anxiety, particularly when his trusted person isn’t around. It’s been over a year since his last incident, and when he’s with someone confident and calm, Opie looks to them for reassurance and settles quickly. Because of this, Opie needs an experienced, dog-savvy caregiver who can offer both structure and comfort. Opie’s previous trainer is available to provide support to his future adopter, including guidance on his current training, handling techniques, and ongoing care. Opie prefers to be the star of the show in a home without other pets or with a very neutral canine companion. He hasn’t been around children or cats, so a quiet, adult household would suit him best. Are you the confident, loving companion Opie needs to continue his journey? If you think you’re the perfect match for this affectionate, loyal adventurer, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com—we can’t wait to hear from you!

Story
Meet Jasmine! A wise and wonderful American Staffordshire Terrier/German Shepherd mix, estimated to be between six-and-a-half and seven-and-a-half years old, currently living in Bethesda, MD, whose golden coat glows as warmly as her loyal heart. With a personality as rich as her heritage, Jasmine is a bright, affectionate girl who thrives in a world of structure, calm, and confident guidance. One of Jasmine’s most lovable traits is how deeply affectionate she becomes once she trusts you. She’s a devoted cuddlebug who adores belly rubs, sunbathing, and curling up beside you after a long walk. Her days run best on a reliable rhythm. She prefers two meals a day, regular walks, and lots of loving connection with her trusted human. Jasmine is currently with a professional trainer and has made tremendous progress! She's off all anxiety medication and is thriving in a consistent, supportive routine. She now enjoys relaxed pack walks with up to thirteen other dogs and impresses with her obedience. She knows commands like sit, down, stay, wait, come, heel, touch, and place. With her intelligence and love of learning, she responds especially well to positive reinforcement and firm, kind leadership. Because of her history, Jasmine is looking for a new guardian who has experience with anxious dogs and understands the importance of clear boundaries. Her ideal family will be confident, calm, and able to offer a structured environment where she feels safe and understood. While she’s dog-selective and not compatible with cats, she’s coexisted peacefully with another dog who matches her energy and confidence. Jasmine’s past includes a couple of bite incidents that were rooted in protective instincts and anxiety, but under her trainer’s care, she’s shown just how far she’s come. She no longer exhibits concerning behaviors and is ready to continue growing with someone who "gets" her, a guardian who leads with strength and love, and helps her feel secure. Medically, Jasmine is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and house-trained. She also has a heart murmur that was evaluated by a veterinary cardiologist and determined not to need treatment. She’s otherwise in good health and ready for her next adventure! Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com and discover the devoted, sun-loving snugglebug waiting to be part of your life’s next chapter!

Story
Meet Harley | Professional Snuggler, Part-Time Goofball, Full-Time Heart Stealer If you’re looking for a dog who will make you feel like the most important person in the room at all times — congratulations, you’ve found Harley. Harley is a 3–5 year old, spayed girl who is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and on prevention. She’s also fully house trained and crate trained, which means she already understands the fine art of living indoors like the classy lady she is. Harley previously lived in a home with kids and other dogs, but through no fault of her own, she was abandoned by her family. Despite that, she has held onto her joyful spirit and loving nature. This girl is VERY happy, VERY affectionate, and VERY into being scratched, snuggled, and adored (which she believes is her full-time job). She’s playful and energetic, with a fun, bouncy personality. Harley does great with other dogs, though she can come on a little strong at first — think enthusiastic introductions rather than bad manners. The good news? She listens extremely well to her people and takes direction beautifully. She’s been in a room with five other dogs at once and handled it like a champ. Because Harley gets excited and can be a bit mouthy when overstimulated, she’d likely do best with older kids who can respect her space and energy levels. She just loves life a little loudly sometimes. She may have some allergies, but nothing that dims her sparkle or her desire to be right next to you at all times. Why you’ll love Harley: Total lovebug who thrives on attention Playful, happy, and full of personality Dog-friendly and social Crate trained & house trained Loyal, responsive, and eager to please Expert couch companion AND adventure buddy Harley is the kind of dog who will follow you from room to room, flop dramatically for belly rubs, and look at you like you hung the moon. She’s ready for a forever home that will love her as much as she loves back — which is a lot. ##2611932##

Story
Meet Larry: Professional Goofball of the Universe Looking for a dog who brings the party, the energy, and the full-body wiggles? Say hello to Larry — a 3½‑year‑old fun machine who has been scientifically proven* to make every day 200% brighter. (*Okay, maybe not scientifically… but we’re pretty confident.) Larry is the type of dog who wakes up every morning ready to seize the day—with a tennis ball, a zoomie plan, and a sparkle in his eye. His absolute favorite thing in the whole wide world? FETCH. If fetch were an Olympic sport, he’d bring home the gold. And also the silver. And probably all the tennis balls too. He ADORES other dogs and thrives in playgroups, where he shows off his best moves (including but not limited to: dramatic play bows, joyful sprints, and his signature “happy hop”). Larry is basically that one friend who’s always the life of the party—except he has fur and better manners. Speaking of manners, this smart cookie really enjoys training time! He knows his basics and loves learning new things, especially if it means he gets praise, treats, or the promise of another round of fetch. What Larry dreams of: An active family who can keep up with his zest for life A fenced yard where he can zoom, romp, and practice his ball‑retrieval skills Humans who will continue his obedience training (he’s already a star student!) Tons of love, laughs, and adventures Larry has been waiting in a Tennessee shelter for a while now, and he’s so ready for his big break—a forever home where he can shine, play, and finally belong. If you’re looking for a joyful, energetic, loyal companion who will keep you smiling and keep you moving, Larry is your guy. Apply for this Hamhead!!!
