Story
Im Coco, nice to meet you. I am a mix between American Staffordshire Terrier and Chocolate lab, and I am about 2 yrs of age. I am super happy to say hello to my volunteers, and really sad to see them leave. Im a people dog, I want you to be happy and me next to you, as close as I can be. I get excited, but I am young- just over 2 yrs old, and I have a lot of energy. I love running, and playing- I am good with my sister Willow, but I am not a fan of the dogs that want to be carried and are smaller than me. I did live with other dogs, and cats but because of my energy and young age, I would probably do better with less distractions and I love to cuddle, so I dont want to share your attention. I would be most happy in your lap pretending that I am a 10lb dog. As much as l love little kids, I think because I jump still, Briana doesnt think I should go to any house with kids younger than 10, because I am strong and would hurt someone accidentally. Im really smart, and I know all my commands including to come when called. I love my name, so if you call for me, its cuz you want my attention and I have plenty to share. My friend Briana is working on my separation anxiety and teaching me not to destroy toys, but please be patient with me when you take me home. Do not let the name Terrier give me a bad rap, I am a love bug who just needs to find my forever human. Thanks for looking at my info, I hope to share my paw artwork with my friends in the next few wks. I am a great artist, I have been told.

Story
Meet Poet! Poet is a sweet older girl rescued from a Florida high kill shelter on her last day before euthanasia. She is definitely a people dog and absolutely adores her human companions. When she's around humans, she wiggles her tail so much, the back half of her body wiggles with it! On the other hand, she is not a fan of small dogs or cats - her prey drive is strong. Poet truly prefers to be the star of her family. This includes being around them the majority of the day as she does suffer from separation anxiety. She is spayed, current on all vaccines and micro chipped. Do yourself a favor and make this girl the happiest dog on the planet by making her your furever companion today!  December 30, 2023, 12:05 am

Story
Meet Dalton! Dalton is an energetic pup who was nearly returned to the SPCA after just a few days with his owner, prior to our rescue stepping in. Dalton loves playing ball and tug and would probably do best in a home with an active owner who can help burn off some of his puppy energy! Dalton is up to date on his vaccines, neutered and micro-chipped. Could you be the family he's looking for?April 12, 2025, 11:59 am

Story
Meet Gabrio! Gabrio is a sweet boy, confiscated after a backyard breeder went to jail. He has several scars, implying that he may've been beat up on purpose, though he is one of the most happy-go-lucky dogs you'll ever meet! Gabrio loves people and gets very excited when shown affection. But, being a bit of an attention-hog, he prefers a house without children. Gabrio enjoys car rides. He would do well with a patient owner as he adjusts to the structure of a new home, but with a great attitude and desire to please, it doesn't take him long to learn. Gabrio comes neutered, up to-date on shots and microchipped. Won't you consider giving him the family he never had?December 30, 2023, 12:05 am

Story
Meet Blitz! Blitz is a 6-year-old, 55 pound working dog. He's smart, food driven, and loves playing fetch. He sleeps through the night in his crate, is house trained, loves learning new tricks, and can be good with other dogs if they allow him to calmly greet them. Blitz would do best in an adult only home, with an owner who is active. He loves going on walks, runs, hikes and car rides. He can be wary of new people, and will need someone to continue to train him on confidence building. Blitz will walk in a heel when requested, he is a quick learner, super food motivated, and will LOVE his owners immensely. Update from foster Mom: With his people, he is the BEST dog, and he's good with dogs if they aren't pushy. He's a quick learner, a cuddle bug, and house-trained. He LOVES hiking with me in the woods, has an amazing recall, and loves playing fetch. I believe he would be the best dog on a farm, where he isn't forced to interact with strangers. I strongly believe that when he is off leash, he will choose to avoid strangers as opposed to confronting them. So why has this amazing already trained pup been with us so long? He doesn't do too well with strangers. We've gotten people interested, but seemingly they seem to ignore his "wary of new people" bit in his bio, and those who have applied want a friendly dog who is ok with meeting everyone. Are you someone who will allow Blitz to become comfortable with strangers slowly? Maybe an active outdoorsy introvert? Or okay with leaving your pup at home while you go out to be extroverted? Blitz is AMAZING. He just needs someone who understands he isn't too fond of people until he feels safe with them. This means not allowing others to approach him on walks and when out and about. No trips to Home Depot or TJ Maxx for this guy. He only needs outings with his new parents! P.S. This means he will take time to warm up to you too! If you are interested in finding out more about Blitz, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO-A-67 Blitz is being fostered in Grafton. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Say hello to Alice, a 1-year-old Bull Terrier mix who’s 45 pounds of pure puppy joy and ears that may or may not double as satellite dishes. 📡 She’s sweet, she’s bouncy, and she’s got that classic “I’m ready to take on the world” puppy energy—and then some. Alice is the kind of pup who: 🌲 Hikes like a champ – Off-leash? No problem. She loves hitting the trails with her dog pals and frolicking like nature’s very own energizer bunny. 🧠 Eager to learn – She’s a smart cookie who wants to please her people (and maybe score a treat or three). 👧👦 Kid-approved – She’s sweet and snuggly with kids and would happily let them serve as cuddle buddies and snack distributors. 🎾 Play-mode always ON – She’s very puppyish and playful, which is adorable… unless you're an older dog trying to retire in peace. If your dog is more “nap enthusiast” than “tag champion,” they might find Alice’s energy a bit much. Alice is still learning the ropes and definitely needs training—she’s got all the potential and just needs someone patient to help shape it! Note: She had heart surgery and has recovered beautifully. She just needs an echocardiogram check in 18-24 months. If you’re ready to open your home (and heart) to this lovable whirlwind of joy, Alice is ready to bounce right in. If you are interested in finding out more about Alice, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Alice is currently in Worcester, MA.
