He is very affectionate and when he looks at you with those big green eyes you can just see all the love he has to give. He loves going for walks and then just snuggle and have a nap He is smart and very eager to learn. He understands routines quickly and is good at letting you know when it is time to do something, but is patient if you need to postpone for a little while, even if it is his favorite snack. Story
Meet Piglet! This 3-year old fawn merle piggly wiggly came to us from local animal control after being picked up from a home with multiple dogs and never reclaimed. And that wasn’t his first stop at animal control, having been there years prior as an underweight and urine-stained pup. But onwards and upwards!  Piglet is an American Bully mix with frosted oceanic eyes that will stop you in your tracks. They’re really like adorable mis-matched blueberries and he only has vision from one of those baby blues, but that absolutely doesn’t slow him down. Piglet is momentarily exuberant, snuggly, lovable, and cautious…all rolled into one 42-lb pint-sized package. He radiates love and tenderness for miles and miles and shows time and time again that he is an amateur professional at all types of snuggling and nuzzling. Seriously…this baby pig has the sweetness of the first bite of fruit striped gum and isn’t afraid to show it.  Pigaroo high-step prances like a show pony with his petite hooves and spends most of his free time looking for stray cat treats. Sure, he would gladly go for a walk but is content to snuggle up and watch Ted Lasso just the same. As long as he’s close! Since we know he has been underweight in his past, it comes as no surprise that Piggy is a foodie at heart and has been known to counter surf on occasion. He takes treats gently and will gladly work for a morsel. Piggy Pie is an excellent co-pilot but prefers shorter rides in the car. His coat is the perfect mix of crème brûlée and rainbow sprinkles. And his perfectly asymmetrical bubble-gum snout is extra boop-able. Though Piglet is living in a foster home with a cat, he tends to chase when surprised. Because of this, we strongly feel he says “no thanks” to kitty friends. Because of his sight limitations and lack of history, older or no kids would be best for this swoonworthy swine, who is anxiously looking for LOVE and can’t wait to start his forever. Piglet may be small in size, but he has the biggest heart! Piglet’s top 3 priorities: 1. Piggy is a professional snuggler so being allowed to snuggle with his person on the furniture and in bed is priority #1.   2. Piglet needs someone who will be sensitive to his potential vision impairment, both socially and medically. He currently needs daily eye drops in one eye and would need a quick visit to monitor the pressure in his eye annually. And with limited vision, bringing him to a beer garden or dog park is definitely not on his bucket list. 3. Piggy is so smart and trusting! He would benefit greatly from working with his person through training classes. Not because he has behavioral needs (he is SUCH a good boy!), but because he needs to gain a little bit of confidence. April 16, 2025, 9:59 am

Story
Meet Moxie! This 3-year old mouse-grey stunner has quite a story and we are thrilled to be part of his journey! Moxie grew up in a “home” where he was crated alllll the time, yelled at, and neglected. He didn’t feel the love that so many young pups have the luxury of experiencing. We are so thankful that his foster mom intervened and saved this affectionate and loving soul from that abusive environment. Despite his difficult past, Moxie has an incredible spirit that shines through his playful nature. He is a very sweet and appropriately energetic boy! A bundle of energy who is always ready for an adventure and eager to explore the world around him. Moxie is filled with, well, moxie! He had the strength of mind to endure such adversity with courage and determination and is constantly surprising us with his resilience.  And now? Moxie has hobbies! They include snuggling in bed with his person, enjoying any and all toys (squeakers be darned!), and noshing on blueberries and apples. He is food driven and LOVES to learn! Taking treats with soft lips, of course! Also, he loves to shower…no kidding. He will sit outside the shower press his nose against the door, or try to jump right in regardless of personal boundaries. He is sweet, nervous, needy, friendly, and curious wrapped up into one loyal friend.  What do we love most about Moxie? His sweet disposition, his desire to learn new things, and his zest for living a happier life than he’s known. He is housetrained and non-destructive and rumored to have a bit of Golden Retriever mixed in. What?! And the Batman-like markings on his chest are his favorite spot for rubs. Moxie, with his courageous spirit, has overcome soooo much and is soooo ready to share his love and loyalty in a caring forever home. Because of limited history, older or no kids would be best for this brave and adaptable boy, who can’t wait to start his forever.  Moxie’s top 3 priorities: 1. Moxie needs someone who can provide a patient environment to help him continue to grow and heal and build confidence. 2. Moxie would thrive in a quiet home/neighborhood with a fenced-in yard where he would feel safe exploring (and can show off his spectacular sprinting skills).  3. Moxie would love to have a friend to play and snuggle with (accepting human and dog applications).May 10, 2025, 7:56 am

Story
Meet Piper! This 7-years young teeny tiny pittie came to us after her owner lost their housing and could no longer care for her – something we are seeing far too often.  It breaks our hearts that she had an owner who loved her beyond words…one who surrendered her from a place of love. While we can’t change the injustices of the world, we can focus on finding the best possible match for Piper to live out her years!  Piper is cat- and dog-friendly, full of wags and wiggles, and exudes the sweetness and size of a cotton candy jellybean. She is mellow, loving, friendly, and if we’re honest, just a bit lazy. She does like being outside and will never turn down a neighborhood stroll, but napping is still her favorite pastime.  And at 45 compact lbs, she is an absolute dream on leash!  Piper loves to snuggle and be close to her humans and will charmingly worm her way under your arm on the couch or in bed to get the best snuggle spot to watch The White Lotus. “Piper, noooooo!” is something you’ll never say to this amazing and well-behaved gal. She sits on the back of the couch like a cat, loves to be under the blankets, and will gladly inhabit a blanket fort. Piper is shy and demure at first but quickly warms up to show you the energy of a toddler on a sugar rush, but it only lasts for 20-30 seconds of zoomies and play bows, then it’s back to the couch for a nap.  Little Pip is like a little gooey gumdrop, or a miniature sugarplum, and we swear her heart glows like the light of a million fairies. She has the littlest underbite and with her tiny chin protruding, looks almost like a child on the verge of tears. This good-natured goober is totally housetrained, non-destructive, and has all the fantastic attributes of a mature pup. She will stare you down if she has to go outside, appreciates an audience while eating, and loves to carry socks around the house (just cause she can!). Because of a lack of history, older kids would be best for this laid-back little lady.  Piper’s top 3 priorities: 1. Piper would love a quiet and calm home. After all, she can’t be too distracted as she naps. 2. Piper is a bed connoisseur! She has honed the skill of finding the perfect spot by your feet or under your arm and snuggling in for the duration, so a home looking for cuddles is a must! 3. Piper would love a patient adopter who will give her some time to settle in. This is true for every dog, but especially true for her since she had the same family since she was a tiny puppy, and they were all she ever knew. May 10, 2025, 7:56 am

Story
Meet Ellie! This 5-month old long and lanky lady came to us from local animal control after her owner could no longer care for her. Ellie Bellie is the cutest puppy around (for real!) and can’t wait to settle into her forever family. With her yoda-like ears and freckled nose, she turns heads wherever she goes. And her thigh-high socks are the BEST! Sweet Ellie wasn’t treated very nicely in her last home and is a shy gal who needs just a little extra time to come around. She is crate-trained and potty-trained and has been thriving with patience and consistency in her foster home. Her perfect home? An adult-only home with lots of love, where El-a-potamus-rex can continue to develop into the wonderful dog she is destined to be. And she can’t wait to be adored by her forever family! Due to her shyness and lack of history, older or no kids would be best for Ellie, Mistress of the Bark.   Ellie’s top 3 priorities: 1. A family who is patient and will let Ellie come around at her own speed, especially in new situations.  2. A family who wants an affectionate, sweet, and shy dog all rolled into one amazing package! 3. A family who is consistent and can show Ellie that after a rough start, the best was always yet to come. May 8, 2025, 3:27 pm

Story
Meet Blitz! Blitz is a 6-year-old, 55 pound working dog. He's smart, food driven, and loves playing fetch. He sleeps through the night in his crate, is house trained, loves learning new tricks, and can be good with other dogs if they allow him to calmly greet them. Blitz would do best in an adult only home, with an owner who is active. He loves going on walks, runs, hikes and car rides. He can be wary of new people, and will need someone to continue to train him on confidence building. Blitz will walk in a heel when requested, he is a quick learner, super food motivated, and will LOVE his owners immensely. Update from foster Mom: With his people, he is the BEST dog, and he's good with dogs if they aren't pushy. He's a quick learner, a cuddle bug, and house-trained. He LOVES hiking with me in the woods, has an amazing recall, and loves playing fetch. I believe he would be the best dog on a farm, where he isn't forced to interact with strangers. I strongly believe that when he is off leash, he will choose to avoid strangers as opposed to confronting them. So why has this amazing already trained pup been with us so long? He doesn't do too well with strangers. We've gotten people interested, but seemingly they seem to ignore his "wary of new people" bit in his bio, and those who have applied want a friendly dog who is ok with meeting everyone. Are you someone who will allow Blitz to become comfortable with strangers slowly? Maybe an active outdoorsy introvert? Or okay with leaving your pup at home while you go out to be extroverted? Blitz is AMAZING. He just needs someone who understands he isn't too fond of people until he feels safe with them. This means not allowing others to approach him on walks and when out and about. No trips to Home Depot or TJ Maxx for this guy. He only needs outings with his new parents! P.S. This means he will take time to warm up to you too! If you are interested in finding out more about Blitz, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO-A-67 Blitz is being fostered in Grafton. The adoption fee is $350. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Story
***Seeking Foster/Foster-to-Adopt*** Say hello to Alice, a 5-month-old Bull Terrier mix who’s 28 pounds of pure puppy joy and ears that may or may not be satellite dishes. She’s sweet, she’s bouncy, she’s got that classic “I’m ready to take on the world” puppy energy. Alice is the kind of pup who: 🌲 Hikes like a champ – Off-leash? No problem. She loves exploring the trails with her dog pals. 🧠 Eager to learn – She’s a smart cookie who’s all about pleasing her people (and maybe getting a treat or two). 👧👦 Kid-approved – Loves children and would happily let them be her cuddle buddies and snack distributors. But here’s the twist in Alice’s puppy tale: when she went in to be spayed, the vet discovered she has a very loud heart murmur. Heart surgery is scheduled for May 13th for her pulmonary stenosis at Tufts in Grafton, MA. So, we’re on the hunt for a Foster-to-Adopt unicorn 🦄—someone who can open their heart and home to Alice, and also drive her to her specialist appointments. She’s got a lot of love to give, a heart that might need a little help, and a whole lifetime of joy ahead of her. If you’re ready to help a very special girl write her happily-ever-after, Alice is ready to bounce her way into your life 💗🐶 If you are interested in finding out more about Alice, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Alice is being fostered in Charlton, MA.
