🐾 Meet Bear Breed: Bully mix | Age: 5.5 years | Size: 61 lbs | Traits: Good with kids & dogs, house-trained, leash reactive, chases cats Bear is a sweet and sensitive soul who’s adjusting to big life changes after losing his person. Once the “father dog” of his pack, this affectionate boy is looking for a new family to love and protect. He’s great with kids—including a toddler in his current foster home—and enjoys socializing with dogs at the park. Bear is playful and energetic, yet perfectly happy snuggling up on the couch. He knows basic commands, is neutered, up to date on shots, and currently on medication to help ease anxiety. While not crate trained, he’s house-trained and responds well to routines. Bear can be leash and distance reactive with other dogs on walks, but friendly once properly introduced. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who just needs a little patience and a lot of heart, Bear could be your guy. CURRENTLY LOCATED NEAR POUGHKEEPSIE, NY

Story
Hi, I'm Bronx! I'm a big bundle of joy with a heart full of love. I'm sweet, friendly, and curious. I'm known for my goofy antics that will surely bring a smile to your face. I'm also quite the smarty-pants, always eager to learn new tricks. Playtime is my favorite time of the day, and I'm full of energy. I'm great with older kids, and I promise to be their loyal playmate. As for other dogs? I prefer to be the king. No other pets for me please- I really am just a people-dog. But, I do have a confession. I get anxious when I'm alone. I just love being around my people so much. I'm strong, not just physically, but emotionally too. I promise to be there for you, through all ups and downs. So, why should you adopt me? Because I'm not just a pet, I'm a friend, a confidant, and a source of endless joy. I'm ready to fill your home with love, laughter, and lots of tail wags. Are you ready for me? Visit the shelter Monday – Saturday from 12pm-3pm to meet our adoptable dogs.

Story
Meet Jax ❤️‍🩹 he is a senior dog at 10 years old and just lost the only family he’s ever known… including the kids he grew up with. He doesn’t understand where they went… and we can only hope that someone will come along and welcome this sweet senior boy into their home. We cannot believe this guy is 10 years old - almost 11! Although he lost his family he has had for his whole life, no fault of his, we are beyond happy to welcome Jax while he waits for his new family. He is a Staffy/Pitty who is very friendly with people. Has been submissive with our female dog. Housebroken, does well in the crate, walks well on leash and is great in the car. He is playful and I still cannot believe he is 10 years old. He acts like a young dog! He is a love bug!! Interested in this handsome guy?! Apply at www.mountainrottierescue.net

Story
Toffee is a sweet, healthy 2 year old male Staffordshire terrier. I've been fostering him since December 2024. He was surrendered to the Manhattan ACC by an owner who said they had no time for him. With a trainer's help, Toffee's come a long way in foster, learning better leash manners and basic commands, and working on his resource guarding issues. Toffee is seeking a forever home where he can be active, explore outdoors, and have snuggle time on the couch. He is house trained and crate trained. A home with a fenced yard where Toffee can play outside would be ideal, and/or an owner who enjoys taking him for walks, who will continue training w/support from the trainer. Toffee is neutered as of May 29, 2025. Toffee is a very friendly dog who loves meeting new dogs and people. He currently lives with 3 cats and they get along well. He is also a great TV watching buddy and enjoys stuffie toys, watching birds and squirrels, and being out in nature.
