**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Taco. I'm about 2 years old and I weigh about 61 lbs. I was found as a stray in the East Palestine area and I was brought into the pound. I can be a little on the timid side when I am around new people or in new situations, but once I get a chance to relax and get to know you, I am very sweet and affectionate. I do a great job of keeping my kennel clean at night and I appear to be at least mostly housebroken. I get along well with most other dogs. I seemed to be very unsocialized with other dogs when I first arrived, but I am doing better with them now that I am getting used to being around them. I'm even learning how to play! If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Katari. I'm about 1 1/2 years old and I weigh about 66 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Glenmoor area and I was brought into the pound. I am microchipped and the pound did try multiple times to let my owners know I am here, but they had no luck. It is possible that I was rehomed at some point, or the information for my owners may be outdated. Either way, I wasn't claimed by an owner, and I am now looking for a loving new family to join. I am a very sweet and affectionate girl. I can be a little shy at first with new people, but I warm up in no time. I LOVE to play! I especially like to play in water. I have been good around the other dogs here at the pound and I also met the cats in the office and completely ignored their existence. I am very clean in my kennel and I appear to be housebroken. Story
Gia is a gorgeous 10 week old (as of 7/20/26) female mixed up mixey mix breed. We know that her mom is a bully/bird dog type (think Weim or Lab) but we have no idea what dad was! Likely a farm dog sort - a Herding Hound seems plausible! Gia is currently approximatley 9 pounds, and we believe will mature to a 30-40 pound adult. Gia came to us from Southern Virginia with her 7 siblings. Her mama was saved from a cruel existence where she was essentially starved as she gave everything she had to her litter of babies, These happy healthy kids show us that Mama did a wonderful job. Now it is time for Gia and her sibs to find homes here in the North. Gia is a sweet social girl. Loves toys, loves cuddles, loves being a bit of an ankle biter - all the typical puppy things! She would be great with just about any family, and we could see her easily living with respecful kids, other dogs, and quite possibly cats so long as she is given proper instruction on how NOT to get smacked. As with any puppy, hard work is the name of the game. The cuteness makes it worthwhile though, we promise. Gia will need crate trained, house trained, obedience trained, and socialized. She will need to be taken out and about to see what this big wide world has to offer. Meeting as many people as she can, friend and stranger - imperative. Puppy classes would be a wonderful tool to help her (and you) along. Gia will be available in a couple of weeks. If you are interested in her, don`t delay, and please fill out the application

Story
Ren is a 10 week old (as of 7/20/26) male mixable mixton mix breed. We know his mom is a Bully/Bird Dog sort of mix (think Weim or lab) but we can only guess at dad - maybe a herding hound? Ren currently weighs in at about 8 pounds and we expect him to be a 30-40 pound adult. Ren came to us all the way from Southern Virginia. His mama had this litter of eight in a not so great home where they were essentially starving her. Whatever nutrition she had she was giving to these babies who are fat and healthy. Now Ren is in the market for a chilly Northern home! Ren is a laid back little boy but still has plenty of puppy spunk. He is a gorgeous little blue boy who would likely do well in just about any household. We imagine he would be fine with other dogs as well as respectful kids (meet and greet required with both). As for cats? We don`t know, but we believe with a little bit of work he could learn to respect them relatively quickly. Just don`t expect your cat to necessarily love him back! As with any baby puppy, Ren will need plenty of patience and work. Crate training, house training, obedience training and LOTS of socialization. Keeping puppies home 24/7 is doing them a disservice. We want families that will take their puppy out and about to see all the strange things and sounds that the world has to offer, and to meet just as many people as possible at a young age. You helping your new dog to grow into the best adult he can be! It will be a lot of work, but every so worth it.Ren will be available in a couple of weeks. If you are interested in him, please fill out the application

Story
Kai is a gorgeous blue fawn 10 week old (as of 7/20/26) male mixity mixy mix breed dog. We know mom is a Bully/Bird Dog type mix (think Weim or Lab), but Dad is a total guess. Evidence points to a possible herding/hound kind of mixture, but honestly, not totally sure! Kai currently weighs in at about 10 pounds, and we expect him to be a 30-40 pound adult. Kai came to us with his 7 siblings from Southern Virginia. His mama kept her babies fat and healthy while being starved in her so called home. She did a fantastic job as all of these babies are perfection. Kai is a pretty laid back boy, but he loves to chew him some shoelaces and the occasional ankle or two - so don`t let that sweet face fool you! He is a social happy boy who loves everyone he meets and will likely fit into just about any appropriate home. He should be okay with other dogs and respectful kids, but a meet and greet with all will be required. Cats are a mystery, its doubtful he has ever seen one, but with your help and a few lessons from the cat, we bet he will learn to respect the meow.Puppies are a lot of hard work, some sleepless nights, and need plenty of patience while they are young. Crate training, house training, obedience training and LOTS of socialization are all necessary components to helping a puppy grow into a spectacular adult. Are you willing to take your puppy to a million places to meet a million people? We hope so! Puppy classes would also be a perfect way to help you and your puppy learn.Kai will be available in a couple of weeks. If you are interested in him, please fill out the application

Story
Sweet Bee is a 4 month old (as of 7/20/26) female Hound/Am Staff/Cur type mix who has traveled all the way from Southern Virginia to fine a forever home in the North! Bee currently weighs approximately 29 pounds and we expect her to be about 60 pounds full grown. Bee is perhaps the most submissive of her litter. She is spunky but not pushy in any way, shape or form. Cuddly and sweet as can be is BEE. She would probably do well with a canine companion, respectful kids, and can even likely learn to live with a kitty! Very people friendly and social in general, Bee has the makings of an amazing adult! Being a puppy means that Bee will need a family willing to dedicate a lot of time to her. She will need training, exercise, and structure along with plenty of love. Socialization is key for Bee and any puppy. She will need to go to all the places and see all the weirdness the world has to offer. Meet tons of strangers and friends alike. A puppy means starting fresh with house training, crate training and basic training. A puppy class would be an amazing way of accomplishing that last part! She is food motivated and smart as a whip - a lifetime of fun and love.Bee will be available in a couple of weeks. If you are interested in her, please fill out the application
