Hello! I am Toby! I am a very handsome man, ready for a forever home! If you enjoy going on nice long walks, I am your boy! I walk nicely on leash, know sit, and enjoy trying new treats. I am hoping my new home has lots of toys and cozy blankets for me. I am very housebroken! I do a great job keeping my kennel clean. I will be happiest in a home where I am the only animal, so that I can soak up all the love I`ve been missing out on. When I first meet someone new I can be shy, but I warm up with love and patience. I enjoy snuggles and wagging my tail, and I am very curious of the world around me. Come meet me today! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neutering-heartworm testingAdoption fee: $135.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2025 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $9.20. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$7.20)Leash and collar included

Story
Hi, I am James Earl Bones. If you are looking for a pocket-sized best friend, look no further! I am short, compact, and full of love. Don`t be fooled by my small size; I am super strong and super active! I love to run in the yards, explore while on walks, and go on adventures as much as I can. When I`m not trotting around with my favorite human, I like to slide on my belly and rub my tummy on the grass (everyone says it looks like I`m swimming!). I love toys and will play all day long if you let me. I prefer to be the only animal in my next home; with a body this small, but a heart this huge, I don`t want to share you with anyone else! I`d also do best with teens to adults and an active family who wants to play. I have been at the shelter for quite some time, have been in foster once, and am for sure a staff favorite. Here`s what one of my shelter friends said about me:`James Earl Bones or James for short is a major sweetheart. His personality is so big, we often forget how darn tiny he is! He is energetic, playful, fun, adorable, loving, and kind. He is a frequent office guest and one of the most polite! He sits very nicely and waits to see if you`re willing to share some of your lunch with him (he`s never pushy!). He loves pets and will snuggle right up in your lap or give kisses. He is incredibly smart and is happiest when we work his brain. He learns all kinds of skills and tricks/commands here, but truly his favorite part of training is that he gets to be with a person while he does it. He is wonderful and sweet, truly an amazing dog. We can`t wait to see which lucky person is going to adopt him and get to love him forever.` Come meet James today! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. **WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there! My name is Buck. I'll be 2 years old in March and I weigh about 68 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound and I am now looking for a new, loving family to join. I once lived on a farm with lots of room to run, but then we moved to the city and when I got my outside time, I had to go in a kennel. I didn't like that very much, so I found ways to escape so I could run (I was intact, so that didn't help). I am a very sweet boy, but I am big, strong and energetic. I would do best with a bully breed savvy owner that is assertive and not afraid of my size. I am very smart and I listen very well if I know you're not going to have my shenanigans. I have been good at the the pound around other dogs. I should meet any dogs I'll live with, just to make sure we're compatible. I was a house dog before making my way into the pound and I am said to be housebroken. I do a good job of keeping my kennel clean here at the pound. If you're looking for a big, sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
When this dude came into the Harrison County Dog Pound in Cadiz, OH earlier this summer, we named him Diablo, because he had that certain something-something about him that reminded us of a devilish kid. Then we found out that his own owner brought him to the pound claiming to have found him and that his name was SCRAPPY, so we changed it. But the fact remains that SCRAPPY is a bit devilish. Kind of like if he was a kid, he might win the Class Clown award. He’s loaded with personality! SCRAPPY is housebroken. He’s good with kids, but doesn’t like cats. He’s good with most dogs. Not only did he live with a few, he’s fathered at least 3 litters of pups that we know of, the last being born at the pound and are now in a foster home with their mom. Unfortunately for SCRAPPY, his one night stand days are over. He’s been neutered, vaccinated and treated for Lyme. SCRAPPY would love to have a family of his own. He’s a happy guy whose tail never stops wagging. He loves to snuggle and be with people. His bark can go from sounding like a chihuahua with laryngitis to a deep rumble you’d expect from a dog twice his size. It just depends on what he’s barking at Harrison County Dog Pound, 82900 Toot Rd. Cadiz, OH 43907 Open: Monday-Friday 10am-4pm; Saturday 9am-2pm; Closed Sundays and holidays. Out of state adoptions welcomed. Applications are available at the pound and online at harrisoncountydogpoundvolunteers, org. Apple users must access our website and submit application using Google, not Safari. $40 adoption fee. 740-942-4080

Story
Goliath is a stunning sleek boy! He turns heads and melts your heart with his big pittie smile! He LOVES people! Maybe a little too much. Some days this big 50 pound love bug still thinks hes a 10 pound puppy and wants to sit in our lap! Goliath would do best in a home that has older children as he still doesn't realize how big he is as he is still full of his puppy energy. He would never hurt anyone! He just doesn't realize how big he is and can easily knock down littles. He knows basic command and is house trained and crate trained. He gets along with other dogs but tends to play on the more energetic side, so other large dogs are best for him. He has a big big heart and will be someone's best buddy on the road, hiking/fishing/camping/running buddy. A good pittie is a TIRED pittie :) And Goliath is a GOOD PITTIE :) Local adoption fee $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area) $50 temporary fuel surcharge
