Story
This is the kind of face that makes you ask, “Penny for your thoughts?” Although, truthfully, those reflective wrinkles are not considering the implications of Orwell or Huxley, but rather calculating the perfect moment to initiate a round of zoomies. (Conclusion: anywhere, anytime, for any reason). Penny is everything one could expect of a block-headed young pit bull mix. She is goofy, fun-loving, energetic, and inquisitive. If dogs could tell jokes I’d bet she would have a great sense of humor as well. Penny is also in need of a home and family to call her own. The one caveat - she needs to be the only pup in the family. She may do well with another large male in a home familiar with the breed’s tendency to have a low tolerance toward others of the four-legged variety, but she does not put up with other females disrupting her position as queen of the house. Her enjoyment of people, on the other hand, knows no bounds.

**All dogs are by appointment only, please inquire through Petfinder, Adopt-a-pet, Rescueme.org or e-mail us directly at shelter@hbpets.org for the dogs questionnaire*** Meet Ryan, Neutered Male, Pitbull Mix, 12mths old and the sweetest boy ever!!! Ryan was picked up after running all over a city in Yamhill County, he had terrible skin issues, covered in fleas, underweight and a fair amount of fur loss. His skin was on fire from it being infected and itchy, but that didn't matter to him, he was so happy that he was out of the weather and safe in the finders car. From day 1, this guy has been incredibly sweet, he has let us do multiple medical treatments, he learned our routine within days of arriving, very eager to learn, loves getting petted, has had dogs on both side of him without issue. He would love to be someones traveling partner, hiking companion, movie watcher, tennis ball fetcher, cuddle buddy. Ryan has allergies, we did the testing and have the results, Ryan is allergic to basically the Willamette Valley, he would thrive at the beach or eastern Oregon, somewhere that is not covered in grass/trees, once away from the valley, his allergies will clear. He is really the best boy, he loves all dogs, listens well, recall is almost perfect, he knows tons of commands and walks well on a harness. My adoption fee is $250

Cece is ready for adventure, hiking, jogging, a beach day! Cece is smart, eager to learn, knows lots of commands, is house trained and is learning to not pull on a harness. Cece was a stray, so we don't have any previous history on her. If you are looking for an adventure buddy or a traveling partner, she is your girl! My adoption fee is $200

Callie, or as she is known in her foster home CallieMagoo, is a fun loving three year old puppy at heart. Callie likes leisurely walks where she can sniff and roll in the grass. She enjoys brain games and working for her food. What makes her happiest and calm is being with her human. She doesn’t have an aggressive bone in her body. She loves people but she is high energy. Callie has had intense basic training, and she just finished the secondary training and she continues to improve. She is a very smart girl and she wants to please you. She works with a trainer that will also help her transition to her new home so she can continue being the best girl for you.. A home in which a continuing education is provided is on her requirement list. CallieMagoo, powered by a squirrel sighting, can jump  four feet in the air. A fully fenced yard with tall fencing is also on her list. Probably a single dog home too as she will share the attention but prefers to be the only one. She is ok with other big dogs but has a bit of a prey drive towards cats and possibly small dogs (cat size) depending on the dog. She is potty trained, crate trained, spayed, chipped and up to date on vaccines and flea treatment. Do you have the time to give Callie the best life ever? She will reward you with kisses. She is very loyal. She knows: Kennel, Sit, Leave it, Heal, Place, free and down. Loves to play fetch tho doesn`t always give back the item so have more then one ready. She must have a securely fenced yard so NO Apartments! To meet her fill out the Dog Adoption Application on OFOSA.ORG and her foster mom will be in touch with you. Her adoption fee is $340.

MEET MEERA! Meera is a beautiful and small 5-1/2-year-old blue & white American Staffordshire Terrier in need of a forever home. She's currently in a foster home near Portland. Meera is a fun-loving girl - she loves the ball, loves toys, loves to go for walks and loves to take naps! She's short in stature and weighs only about 45 lbs. Meera is a loving and cuddly girl and would do great with a single person, a couple, or a family with older kids. She would do well in a condo or apartment, too. She loves car rides, and loves to go out and about and enjoy the sunshine. She is not a fan of other dogs, so needs to be the only dog in the home. She's also got a prey drive, so no cats, please.
