Story
Theo is a gorgeous red and white boy that is a gentle giant. He is approximately 2 years old and weighs 72 lbs. Shockingly, Theo has been owned since a puppy, but his owner left on a “vacation” and never came back. The owner’s mom took over his care, but the gentle giant Theo is so submissive, all of the other dogs were bullying him to the point they were ganging up on him and attacking him. The new owner contacted us for help as her dogs attacked him so badly, he needed veterinary care as he was covered in blood and limping. We got him to the veterinarian where he received the care he needed, and we knew we could not put him back in that home, or death was imminent for him. So now, Theo is in a foster home, fully healed and now he is ready for his forever home! Theo is so submissive, gentle, kind and loving. He does not have a mean bone in his body. He would be wonderful with children of all ages because of how sweet he is. He is fostered with other dogs, and even though he was bullied and attacked, he still loves being around other dogs! He gets along with the smallest and biggest dogs. Please just make sure your dog or dogs are not bullies when considering adoption, as we do not want Theo to go through history again. Theo has met his current fosters kitties, and he does great with them. If anything, he is afraid of the kitties! He is house and crate trained. He is not a big fan of the crate, and you must give him a push to get in it, but once he is in, he sleeps through the night. We think even without a crate, he would do wonderfully sleeping on the couch or even your bed! Theo does amazing on a leash and would be great in a home that is calmer to medium active. He is not an overly active dog and is content with neighborhood walks or even just hanging out in the backyard. If you’re looking for a smart, loyal, calm, loving, and all around perfect boy, please consider adopting Theo. Theo will be neutered, he is heart worm negative, current on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention and will receive a clean bill of health from a veterinarian prior to adoption. To apply to adopt you can go to our website at: www.pawsitive-Impact-animal-rescue.org This animal is currently located in Texas, but we do NOT adopt animals out in Texas due to the hundreds of animals being euthanized here daily. We do adopt in Central US and the East Coast. The adoption fee listed INCLUDES transport from Texas to the location where this animal is posted in. Story
Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement-Kennel License #2617Could she do well with kids? Yes, with children 16 years and older.Could she do well with other dogs? We believe she would do best as the only dog in the home.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not `cat test` dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian`s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---What volunteers have to say about this animal:Meet Athena - Strong. Loyal. Stuffed-Toy Obsessed. At 7 years old and 60-some pounds of solid Staffordshire sass and heart, Miss Athena isn`t just a dog-she`s a presence. You`ll find her daily patrolling the SPCA grounds like she owns the place, proud, poised, her favorite stuffy in tow (today: plush duck, tomorrow: who knows?). Carrying that toy gives her confidence-it`s part security blanket, part fashion statement.Athena is a true original: confident, expressive, and full of personality. She`ll roll belly-up for rubs once she knows you`ve earned it-but she`s also not afraid to set boundaries when it comes to her food, toys, or personal space. (You`ll want to brush up on your high-value trade game.)Athena`s Ideal Kingdom Includes:- No other pets-she`s the only queen of this castle- Older teens and adults who respect her quirks (age 16+ recommended)- A confident human who can help her channel her big-dog energy into play, structure, and connection- A yard, a trail, water to splash in, or a sidewalk to roam-this girl loves a walkShe may be wary at first, but once you`re in her circle, Athena becomes a loyal, affectionate, ear-rub-seeking shadow who thrives with her people. She`s brave, a bit stubborn, but always sincere.Athena is a one-of-a-kind companion for a one-of-a-kind adopter. She`s not here to entertain the masses-she`s here to find her person. Someone steady, intuitive, and willing to offer her the consistency and care she deserves after years of being overlooked.---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Athena is an enthusiastic girl who enjoys observing from a distance and is good at controlling her impulses around prey that stimulate her. She handles kennel procedures well, likes carrying toys, and needs to trade them to return. She’s easily startled but recovers quickly. Confident and selective about her likes and dislikes, she handles veterinary care well, especially with a lick mat. She s
