Story
Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617Behavior Profile Color(s): Blue/OrangeBlue—Has an energetic and boisterous nature.Orange—Has behavior traits that require breed and/or specialized experience with dogs.Could she do well with kids? Yes, with children 16 years and older.Could she do well with other dogs? We believe she would do best as the only dog in the home.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Athena is a girl that barely a day goes by when you don’t see her wandering the property with a volunteer, her choice of stuffed toy for the day in her mouth. While she gains some confidence when holding that toy, she’s generally a very headstrong girl who needs someone to help her appropriately express the pent-up energy she can at times show when interacting with people. Other times you’ll find her with the people she’s comfortable with rolled onto her back asking for belly rubs. She’s wary of people trying to take away the things she considers `hers”, such as food and toys, you may find you will have to trade with something of higher value to retrieve whatever object she has. She will need to be your one and only pet as she is not a big fan of other animals. If you are looking for a companion who may not always enjoy meeting all people but loves going on adventures, Athena could be your girl.---For more resources to help with at any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

Story
Mia is a sweet girl in need of a new home. She enjoys going for walks and likes to play. She has previously lived with small children. She needs a home as an only pet or may patiently do well with a male dog as she has lived with a male in the past. Mia will not be adopted to a home with cats. She is already microchipped & is now spayed & ready to find her fur ever home. She was originally here at the shelter in 2018 and just recently got returned due to her owner loosing their home. She is a great dog and has so much love to give.

Story
Why do black dogs take longer to find a home?! Tia is a great girl! She is medium sized at 45lb, with a lot of energy and a lot of love to give. With an eagerness to please, and plenty of athleticism that transitions into her playing style, Tia is quite the character. She LOVES any kind of toy and will go to fetch just about anything that is thrown that she can fit into her mouth. Chew toys, balls, chew bones, sticks, pinecones... anything can be a toy, and she is just as excited for a little twig as she is for a ball. Tia came into our care from a home that had 25+ dogs in their home. They were not able to properly care for the dogs and they needed help. Tia has had the opportunity to flourish and begin to learn, but she will need some training to teach her more manners. Tia needs a home with space, as she loves to run and play. She will sit for her food, and is very trainable, she is eager to please. She would do best with an experienced family that can work with her to guide her to being the best version of herself. Her energy level may not be compatible with all families, she has the average energy of a Labrador. She is learning to walk on a leash, however we think she may have been tied out on a chain at some point, so a secure harness may do best for her. She will do best with a fenced in yard to be able to properly run and play inside of. She can be a resource guarder with food (with other dogs not people), we have solved for this by feeding her with a "slow feeder" bowl and she takes herself to a crate when it comes time for food. Although she can get along with other dogs, we would like to find someone that is content with having one dog so Tia can finally get the one-on-one attention she has never had. Let's get Tia a home of her very own!! ***************PLEASE READ THIS FOR NEXT STEPS**************** Please COPY and PASTE the following URL into your web browser for the adoption application: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FPSL/Dog COMPLETED APPLICATIONS TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER INQUIRIES. If you are interested in adopting, the FIRST step is to complete an application. Please note that our animals are rescued and transported from South Mississippi where major animal overpopulation means less homes. We only transport them once adopted, in most instances, we can be available for a video call once an application has been approved. We are USDA certified, and WE PERSONALLY TRANSPORT OUR OWN adopted animals to meet their new families. We transport every 2-3 weeks. Our adoption fee includes the spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, Microchip, heartworm tested, Mississippi Health Certificate, and the transport service to get the new family pet to you ***Breed input is required for each platform but is not guaranteed to be accurate. We do not DNA test. We rescue animals from different situations. We discuss breed assignments with our vets to label them as accurately as possible.*** We are currently unable to adopt pets to ME and RI residents.

Story
This is Zoie. Zoie is located in Texas and is looking for her forever home. She is very friendly with other dogs. She loves to be with her people. She has jumped the fence to chase her foster dad down lol. Her foster had to stop the car open the door and she jumped right in with a smile on her face. The second picture is after he picked her up. Zoie would love a family that has a fenced in yard and loves to be active. Zoie would enjoy going for car rides and just being with her human as much as possible. Zoie is a good girl who just wants to be loved. We feel Zoie would do great with an adopter who is possibly a truck driver as zoie like to jump in the car when you leave and is always down to go for a ride. She even had to jump the fence to go for a ride with her foster dad to the hospital when her foster momma had to go by ambulance. If you think you are the right family for Zoie please send us a message or you can fill out the application on our website at coalmountain.org to be pre-approved. Zoie is located currently in Texas but transport is available for an approved adopter or foster. The adoption fee includes transport.  ##1454952##
