Story
Meet Tia!Tia is a gentle senior girl hoping to find a soft place to land for her golden years. She was found as a stray and brought to our shelter, and now she`s ready for the comfort and stability of a loving home. This sweet lady has a calm, kind nature and would be perfectly content lounging on the couch with you, or joining you for a nice, long walk (she`s a rockstar on the leash!). Tia`s ideal home would be one where she can be the only pet, but she is open to meeting older kids and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for an easy going, loyal friend. If you`re interested in meeting Tia, she is located at the Pennsylvania SPCA Danville Center on Bloom Rd. We are open daily from 12:00-6:00pm and no appointment is needed. Please bring everyone who lives in your home. If you have any questions about her, feel free to call the shelter at 570-275-0340 or email danville@pspca.org.-Pennsylvania SPCA Danville Center1467 Bloom Road Danville PA 17821Kennel #2909

Story
Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement-Kennel License #2617Could she do well with kids? Yes, with children 16 years and older.Could she do well with other dogs? We believe she would do best as the only dog in the home.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not `cat test` dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian`s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---What volunteers have to say about this animal:Meet Athena - Strong. Loyal. Stuffed-Toy Obsessed. At 7 years old and 60-some pounds of solid Staffordshire sass and heart, Miss Athena isn`t just a dog-she`s a presence. You`ll find her daily patrolling the SPCA grounds like she owns the place, proud, poised, her favorite stuffy in tow (today: plush duck, tomorrow: who knows?). Carrying that toy gives her confidence-it`s part security blanket, part fashion statement.Athena is a true original: confident, expressive, and full of personality. She`ll roll belly-up for rubs once she knows you`ve earned it-but she`s also not afraid to set boundaries when it comes to her food, toys, or personal space. (You`ll want to brush up on your high-value trade game.)Athena`s Ideal Kingdom Includes:- No other pets-she`s the only queen of this castle- Older teens and adults who respect her quirks (age 16+ recommended)- A confident human who can help her channel her big-dog energy into play, structure, and connection- A yard, a trail, water to splash in, or a sidewalk to roam-this girl loves a walkShe may be wary at first, but once you`re in her circle, Athena becomes a loyal, affectionate, ear-rub-seeking shadow who thrives with her people. She`s brave, a bit stubborn, but always sincere.Athena is a one-of-a-kind companion for a one-of-a-kind adopter. She`s not here to entertain the masses-she`s here to find her person. Someone steady, intuitive, and willing to offer her the consistency and care she deserves after years of being overlooked.---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Athena is an enthusiastic girl who enjoys observing from a distance and is good at controlling her impulses around prey that stimulate her. She handles kennel procedures well, likes carrying toys, and needs to trade them to return. She’s easily startled but recovers quickly. Confident and selective about her likes and dislikes, she handles veterinary care well, especially with a lick mat. She s

Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617**Due to Melina needing spayed, her adoption will not be finalized until on or after: 7-18-26Could she do well with kids? Yes, with children around 6 years old, on a kid-by-kid basis.Could she do well with other dogs? Melina can be selective with other dogs. Multiple meets might be necessary.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---What volunteers have to say about this animal:Meet Melina – Oversized Lap Dog, Professional Snuggler, World`s Biggest BabyMelina is an American Staffordshire Terrier mix with a beautiful face, a soft heart, and a sincere belief that she is much, much smaller than she actually is.This sweet girl approaches life with a little caution, but once she decides you`re safe, her main objective becomes staying as close to you as possible. Exploring is nice. Walks are nice. But have you considered sitting down so she can lean against you dramatically? What Melina Is Like:- Affectionate, loyal, and people-focused- Loves staying close to her humans- Frequently seeks reassurance and connection- Quick to learn when given gentle guidance- Friendly with new people- Secretly convinced she`s a lap dogMelina likes to check in often, especially in new situations. During her assessment, she explored her surroundings but never strayed far, preferring to keep her people within easy reach. She also showed a lovely willingness to learn: when redirected, she adjusted quickly and improved as she went.Meeting strangers was easy for Melina. Meeting another dog was a bigger question mark. She took her time, froze when she felt unsure, and gradually relaxed once she realized everything was okay. It`s a pretty good summary of who she is: thoughtful, sensitive, and willing to try.Melina`s Ideal Home Looks Like:- Kids around 6+, on a case-by-case basis- Possibly another dog, with careful introductions- Humans who appreciate affection in large quantities- A couch sturdy enough for enthusiastic cuddlingSome dogs want adventure. Some dogs want toys. Some dogs want treats. Melina wants all of those things, too. But mostly, Melina wants you.---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Melina is a sweetheart who approac
