Story
Steven is a handsome 4-year old male American Staffordshire Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on December 6, 2024 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Echo Valley Road in the Waterford Ohio area. Steven was accompanied by his best friend Arlo (a 3-year old male Yellow Labrador Retriever) who is also in our shelter. Neither of these boys were wearing a collar, and they were not microchipped. Steven has a chocolate brown-and-white coat, a long tail, and an adorable chubby face with dark brown eyes, a brown patch around his right eye, a black button nose, and semi-erect ears. Steven has the cutest wrinkles on his chubby face which gives him the sweetest appearance. Steven and Arlo are continuing to enjoy their own 'bachelor's pad' in our Safe Haven Building where they have the freedom of not being in a kennel. Neither Steven nor Arlo accepts cats into their circle of friends and cannot be trusted to be nice to them. Steven is a muscular boy who weighs 68 lbs. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Steven and Arlo were held for three days so that their family would have an opportunity to reclaim them with proof of ownership. Sadly, nobody called or came looking for this magnificent pair of best friends. Update: Steven was neutered on September 24, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine. Thanks to HSOV Volunteer Jennie Payton Sherrard for spending time with Steven for these updated photos late in the afternoon on September 28, 2025. Steven's personality has blossomed over the past several months, and he was a joy to photograph with Jennie by his side. Steven was fascinated with the paparazzi and was a real 'ham' for the camera. Since Steven and Arlo are very bonded with each other, Jennie and HSOV Volunteer Angel Grosklos teamed up to walk both boys from their 'apartment' in the Safe Haven Building so that they did not have to be separated. Steven and Arlo are both neutered, so they could leave our shelter immediately (together of course) with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.

Story
Titus is a magnificent 3-year old male American Staffordshire Terrier/Pit Bull Terrier who was brought to the HSOV on January 18, 2026 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Sandhill Road in the Marietta Ohio area. Titus was wearing a collar but there was neither an id tag nor a license tag to enable us to locate his owner .. And he was not microchipped. This handsome guy has a snow white coat with several patches of gray/charcoal on his sides/back, a long tail, and a beautiful symmetrically-marked charcoal-and-white face, expressive brown eyes, tan eyebrows, a gray/blue nose, and short floppy ears. Titus has a super sweet, outgoing personality, and he has surely been loved by someone during his lifetime. These outdoor pictures of Titus were taken on January 22, 2026 when HSOV Volunteer Miley Kiggans assisted Titus with his photo session. Titus loved attention from Miley and enjoyed time out of his large floor crate in order to have an opportunity to stretch his legs (and use the 'outdoor facilities' for a bathroom break). Titus seemed a little too interested in several of the HSOV outdoor shelter mascot kitties, so we aren't sure how he really feels about felines and whether he was merely wanting to play/give chase to them. Titus is a big boy who currently weighs 72 lbs and is fairly strong on a leash. Since Titus was not reclaimed, we will have him neutered and find him a fabulous home. Titus could be fostered while he awaits his neuter procedure with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application. Update: Zeus (fka Titus) went home with a wonderful foster family on February 7, 2026 who had planned to adopt him after he was neutered ... But due to circumstances beyond their control, they are unable to adopt Zeus as originally planned so Zeus' status has been changed to "Available Foster" as of May 19, 2026. They will continue to foster him on a day-by-day basis, and hopefully Zeus will find another great home before he is returned to our shelter since he is accustomed to the freedom of being in a home and will surely be devastated to find himself in a shelter kennel or floor crate again. Unfortunately, Titus/Zeus' foster family was no longer in a position to foster him long-term as they had hoped to do until he was adopted. Titus was returned to HSOV on May 30, 2026 and is waiting for his hero to come and meet him (and hopefully take him home as a foster-to-adopt while he is awaiting his neuter procedure.

Story
Nader is a beautiful 4-year old female American Staffordshire Terirer who was brought to the HSOV on September 9, 2024 after she was found on Franklin Street in Marietta Ohio. Nader was wearing a collar but there was neither an id tag nor a dog license tag on her collar .. And she was not microchipped. Nader has a sleek auburn/brown short smooth coat with white marking on her neck/check, a long thin tail, and an adorable chubby Staffordshire face with amber-colored eyes, a red/liver-colored nose, and semi-erect ears. This sweet girl has a friendly disposition and loves attention. Nader enjoyed soft plush stuffed toys during her first day in our shelter even though she plays rough with them and they don't survive very long. These photos of Nader were taken late in the afternoon on September 9, 2024 when HSOV Lead Canine Kennel Tech Jared Nash accompanied Nader for outdoor glamour pictures. Nader ran a few laps around Jared to show off her 'body beautiful' then decided needed some more attention from Jared .. And quickly rewarded him with some nice doggy kisses. Nader is a full-figured girl who currently weighs 76.2 lbs. She walked fairly well on a leash for Jared. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Nader will be held for three days so that her family will have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. We hope that her family (or someone will recognize her and help us reunited Nader with her people). She is very sad being in an unfamiliar place and cries for attention when she is left alone. Nader went home with a foster family on July 25, 2025 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed. Nader was returned to HSOV on July 30, 2025 after there was a dispute between Nader and a small puppy in the foster family's home over a toy ball. Nader was 'resource guarding' what she felt was her toy. Update: Nader was taken to a veterinarian hospital on September 24, 2025 for her spay procedure, and it was determined that she was already spayed. Nader was given rabies vaccine that day.

Story
Moto Moto is an adult male (possible) American Staffordshire Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on November 23, 2025 by a Good Samaritan who found him on County Road 17 in Washington County Ohio. Moto Moto was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped. This handsome guy has a white-and-gray short smooth coat, a long tail, and such an adorable face with hopeful innocent eyes. Moto has a large gray patch on the right-hand side of his face while the left side is white. He has the cutest chubby muzzle with a blue/charcoal gray nose .. And semi-erect ears. Moto Moto appears to have a friendly personality and craves attention from kennel techs/volunteers. He has a unique 'whine' (instead of a loud bark) when he sees anyone who might give him attention. We quickly learned that Moto Moto does better wearing a harness when walking him since he tends to view a slip lead as a 'tug-of-war' toy when you try to put the leash over his head (nuff said?) Moto Moto has some hair loss which is most likely to an allergy of sorts and is visible in his first photos. His fur is already beginning to look better these days thanks to the extra TLC which he has been given by our HSOV kennel techs. Moto Moto hadn't stepped on the scales for a weigh-in yet when these photos were taken, but he likely weighs 50+ lbs. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Moto Moto was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him .. But nobody called or came looking for him. We look forward to taking more flattering updated photos of Moto Moto but hope that these 'before' pictures will be the first step to find him a great home.

Steven has a chocolate brown-and-white coat, a long tail, and an adorable chubby face with dark brown eyes, a brown patch around his right eye, a black button nose, and semi-erect ears. Steven is a very frightened boy who shows his fear by barking loud and fast when anyone approaches him or makes eye contact. Our kennel techs are still doing their best to gain Steven's trust since he isn't sure who he can trust. We have kept Arlo with Steven in their own 'bachelor's pad' where they have the freedom of not being in a kennel. Interestingly, Arlo enjoys being petted and when Steven sees Arlo getting pets .. then Steven wants them as well. Neither Steven nor Arlo accepts cats into their circle of friends and cannot be trusted to be nice to them. Steven is a muscular boy who weighs 68 lbs. These photos were taken on December 7th 'through the looking glass' (the panes of glass on the door to the boys' apartment) since Steven wasn't quite ready to walk on a leash for outdoor photos. One (or both) of the boys had been licking the glass or putting their paws on the panes, so several of their photos are blurry for that reason (smile). In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Steven and Arlo will be held for three days so that their family will have an opportunity to reclaim them with proof of ownership. Update: Steven was neutered on September 24, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine.
