Story

Willow is a two year old boxer who has eyes that will absolutely melt your heart. This sweet baby has literally been to heck and back. She came to HSOP emaciated and covered in sores, some of which appeared to be bites. None of that has affected her sweetness. She loved every person she met and is such a gentle walker on the leash, that my 7 years old was able to walk her. The downside is, that even though her physical wounds have recovered, she hasn't forgotten the source of some of them. Willow can't be around other dogs (or, to be safe, cats) as she reacts very strongly. She rides well in the car, has done well on outings including the Easter parade downtown! I have to believe that there is a home out there for this beautiful girl that wants to make her their one and only. She gives the best hugs and kisses. Willow is also super smart and food driven, which means she'd be easy to train for tricks. I loathe with everything in me, the pain that this sweet girl has endured. What she deserves now is a family to love her for the rest of her life and spoil her so much that those first two years become a distant memory.

Duke is a handsome 2-year old male Boxer mix who was brought to the HSOV on January 30, 2024 by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff who had picked Duke up (along with his beautiful sister Lucy) on Dana's Run Road in the Newport Ohio area. Duke has a dark brown/black short smooth coat in a brindle pattern, a large white bib on his chest, white paws, a long tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked face brindle/white face with beautiful brown eyes, a black button nose, and short floppy ears. These photos were taken on February 3, 2024 when HSOV Kennel Tech Sydney Satow spent time with Duke for his Petfinder/Facebook/Adoptapet photos. Duke weighs approximately 65 lbs and is very strong on a leash. Duke has already been neutered and was given rabies vaccine on February 14, 2023. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Duke was held for three days so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Neither Duke (nor his sister Lucy) were reclaimed. We've learned that Duke does NOT do well with other dogs (or cats), so he would be looking for a home that he did not have to share with other animals.

Lucy is a beautiful 2-year old female Boxer mix who was brought to the HSOV on January 30, 2024 by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff who picked Lucy up (and also her good-looking brother Duke) after they were found on Dana's Run Road in the Newport Ohio area. Lucy has a black-and-white short smooth coat with an intriguing pattern, a long tail, and an adorable face with a large black "pirate's patch" around her left eye, a black button nose on her chubby muzzle, and short floppy ears. Lucy has a vivacious outgoing personality and was ready for 'action photos' when HSOV Kennel Tech Bradyn Morris accompanied her for outdoor glamour photos on the afternoon of February 3, 2024. Lucy weighs 47.3 lbs and is surprisingly very strong on a leash since she isn't a very big girl when you see her in person. Lucy has already been spayed and was given rabies vaccine on February 14, 2023. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Lucy was held for three days so that her family would have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. Neither Lucy nor Duke were reclaimed. We've learned that Lucy is selective about making friends with other dogs and chooses those that she likes or dislikes. Lucy does NOT do well with cats and should not be placed in home where she would have contact with feline friends.

Buddy is a handsome 2-1/2 year old male Boxer/Shepherd mix who was brought to the HSOV on April 7, 2024 by a Good Samaritan after he had been found at a residence on Florence Street in Belpre Ohio (and might possibly have been left there by his owner). Buddy has a black-and-brown short smooth coat with a large white bib on his chest, a long tail, and a beautiful face with dark brown eyes which beg for attention, black shading on his short muzzle, and large floppy ears. Buddy appears to have a calm, quiet disposition and a sweet, easygoing personality. He was a well-behaved boy and serenely gazed at the camera (or perhaps at the photographer for attention) when these photos were taken on April 9th. Buddy is reported to be good with children, and he is housebroken. Buddy weighs 53 lbs. He has already been neutered. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Buddy was held for three days so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. As of April 10th, nobody had called or came looking for this awesome dog.

Boris is an adorable 10-month old male Boxer mix who was brought to the HSOV on April 10, 2024 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden who picked him up on Barclay Street in Belpre Ohio. Boris was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped. Boris has a brown short smooth coat with a large patch of white on his chest, white toes on his paws, a long tail, and a beautiful face with dark brown eyes which have the appearance of being enhanced with black eye shadow/liner, black shading on his muzzle, and large floppy ears. This little sweetheart has a lovable disposition and a friendly outgoing personality. Boris adored HSOV Volunteer Tracy Lynn who graciously helped him with 'glamour photos' on the afternoon on April 11th. Boris was quite the gentleman after he expended some playful energy, and he quickly obeyed the 'sit' command when Tracy asked asked him to settle down (smile). Boris weighs 38 lbs and walks fairly well on a leash. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Boris will be held for three days so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership.

Roscoe was surrendered to the shelter on 2/19/2024. They had too many dogs to afford to care for them. Sadly, Roscoe was living tied to a box most of his life. He spent a little time indoors in the beginning. Roscoe is such a handsome man and a sweetheart. Surprisingly he is house trained! We are guessing him to be a Boxer/Mastiff mix. The owners weren't sure what breed he was. He is now neutered and up to date on his vaccines. He needs a home without livestock or cats. He does fine with other dogs and hasn't bothered any of them. He is spending his days indoors and resting on his bed. He could sleep for hours. Roscoe does well with all adult and children. Adoption fee is $150.00
