Story
Cal is a young, adult male mastiff/coonhound mix looking for a home where he can share all his love. He had a rough start in life as a stray left to fend for himself. He was found by an altruistic person that offered him a temporary home. During this time, it was determined that Cal had likely been struck by a car sustaining a rear leg fracture that healed improperly. Circumstances changed in his foster home and Cal made Satchel's his home. As time passed, it became evident that his broken leg, although healed, was not functioning properly. After extensive medical evaluation, it was determined that the best course of action for a pain free and active life was to amputate the limb. Now, Cal is the fun-loving guy he was always destined to be, running and playing without discomfort. He races about on his three legs, jumps the hurtles in the agility yard and navigates the tube tunnel with more exhilaration than any other dog at Satchel's! Cal feels most comfortable with slow introductions to unfamiliar people but once he chooses a new friend, he is an adoring canine companion. He exudes happiness, jumping with joy when he spots his favorite staff members or volunteers and is most content when being pet by his friends. He is easy to walk, enjoys car rides, and wants to be in close proximity to his loved ones. His new family will likely never sit on the couch alone again! Cal has lived with another canine in the home and has not exhibited any indications that this would not be possible again in the future. For an appointmentto meet him, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website satchelslastresort.org/adopt/

Story
Although Meili may be shy initially when meeting strangers, she continues to make great progress especially when it is done calmly and slowly. This brindle beauty is eight years young and loves taking walks in quiet places without lots of activity and commotion. Although she walks well on leash, it is suggested to use a harness which gives her added security and also helps the handler with any potential pulling. Meili is not interested in playing with dogs, but does fine walking with other mellow dogs and has participated successfully in a six week agility session with other leashed dogs. She adores car rides and soft music and would make a great travel companion. She is very food motivated and has been learning the “wait” command as she anticipates that special treat. Once she trusts you, she will be a faithful companion and will enjoy being close and lying by your side. She loves to watch you with her soulful eyes and the tip of her tail moves joyously when you speak to her. If you are interested in meeting Meili, please fill out an adoption application (no commitment) at Satchelslastresort.org.

Story
Carver is our handsome Piebald Great Dane. He is 111lbs, so a nice manageable size. He is gentle and docile and loves attention 24/7. He is potty trained and crate trained and asks to go in his crate at times for quiet time. Walks well on leash unless he gets excited to see other dogs, this is the ONLY area that we feel he could improve. His play style can be a little rough but he will calm if corrected. Comes when called. Typical Dane behavior of wanting to be where the people are, leaning and loving. Stands well for baths and doesn’t mind having his paws touched. He is good with cats with the occasional attempt to play with them. Loves older kids, no exposure to littles in foster. This guy is a dreamboat of a Dane and will make a family so happy! Carver is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and neutered. He is being fostered in Plant City and his adoption fee is $350. If interested, please complete an adoption application at https://www.love4pawsfl.org/adopt.
