Meet Gus, an XL, handsome Anatolian Shepherd estimated to be around 5 years old. Gus came to us from local animal control and has proven himself to be an absolute gem. He’s tall, about 85 lbs, and arrived underweight, so he’ll need a home committed to helping him continue to fill out and thrive. Gus is the definition of a gentle giant. He is wonderful with other dogs and truly exceptional with cats. He reads their cues perfectly—if they want space, he gives it; if they want to cuddle or play, he is gentle and patient. He has not been around children while in our care, but due to his size and strength, he would do best with older, sturdier kids who won’t be easily knocked over by an enthusiastic greeting or a happy tail swipe. This big guy has so many wonderful qualities. He’s great in the car and simply lays down in the backseat. He’s crate comfortable, fully potty trained, knows sit and shake, and is incredibly smart. He recently had his enormous dew claws removed and handled it all like a champ. Gus also loves to play fetch and absolutely enjoys cuddle time. His foster says he is “literally the perfect dog” with zero complaints. As an Anatolian Shepherd, Gus is very true to his breed. It’s important for adopters to research the breed and be prepared for the commitment, lifestyle, and responsibility that comes with owning a livestock guardian–type dog. Gus is amazing, but like all dogs of his breed, he needs the right home that understands and appreciates who he is. Meet Ranger, the intelligent and active Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and boundless energy. This handsome boy is a fast learner and has mastered essential commands like sit, down, wait, and shake. He's so clever that he tackled a level 3 puzzle on his first try! Ranger is a well-behaved and well-trained pup, making him a pleasure to have around the house. He's house trained, crate trained, and shows no signs of destructiveness indoors. However, he does experience some separation anxiety when his human leaves the house, which is why he's kept in his crate during errands. But don't worry, when he's playing in the backyard with his furry friend, he's perfectly content and doesn't exhibit any separation anxiety. Ranger is an active boy who loves going on walks, and he'll gladly accompany you on all your outdoor adventures. While Ranger is intelligent and affectionate, he can be barrier reactive, meaning he may react when he encounters certain barriers or boundaries. Patience and positive reinforcement training can help him overcome this behavior. This is very typical behavior for both breeds and he absolutely has to be adopted into a Mali/GSD knowledgeable family/ Ranger was in pretty rough shape when rescued and the vet initially thought he had an intestinal disease. Nothing was definitively diagnosed but the vet believes he has small intestinal issues. He is on a folate vitamin daily and will just need annual lab work and a high quality RAW FOOD diet. Ranger's charm and charisma shine through in the photos and videos provided, capturing his playful and loving nature. If you're looking for a smart, active, and affectionate companion, Ranger is the perfect match.
