Story
Sweet little Oreo hasn't had the easiest of times in his short 9 months or so in this world, but he's come a long way, baby, in the short time he's been safe in the CPR circle. When he first came to us, he was very leery of anybody touching him, but after just over a week with us, he's learning to trust and learning that not all people are bad. Some people are bad, and we're working really hard to overcome what he's been shown from people in the past. Because he's not 100% sure of people just yet, we're looking for a mature home that wlll give him the space and time he needs to get comfortable and know that he's safe even in a new home. As time goes by, we might entertain a home with older kids, but for now, we feel like the peace and quiet of a more mature home will be best for him. He likes a car ride and is improving on his leash skills. He's good with other dogs, but not so much interested in playing with other dogs at this point. He's still got a bit to go in order to really be the very best boy he can be, but we know that his people are out there looking for a special fellow to love. Oreo is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. All dogs 6 month + receive a Proheart 6 injection at the time of their heartworm test. This provides heartworm prevention for 6 months from the time of that injection. This dog has tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. He will need someone with a lot of time and patience to allow him the time and space he needs to start trusting you. Salty Dog will need a secure fenced in yard where he can be safe as he is learning to trust people. He would do best in a quieter home with 2 or fewer dogs so he can get the attention he needs. Would not be good in an apartment. Salty Dog is $300 to adopt, about 22 pounds, and 5 years old. Understandably, he arrived at the rescue frightened, withdrawn, and showing signs of fear aggression. But in the safety of rescue care, Goldie has blossomed! He has learned to trust his caregivers and his true, loving personality is emerging. While he has made incredible strides, he is still cautious around new strangers and will need a family willing to earn his trust with patience, kindness, and time. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.This resilient poodle born around 10/2/2017 has been through a lot but is now ready for a loving home. Found on the streets with one of the worst cases of matting we’ve ever seen, his hair was so long it touched the ground. Sadly, neighborhood kids threw rocks at him as he ran through the streets, terrified and alone. It took an experienced trapper to safely bring him to our facility, where he arrived shaking and too scared to be touched by anyone. However, with time, patience, and care, he has blossomed into a wonderful companion. He now enjoys daily walks, loves being pet, gets the excitement zoomies, and gets along well with other dogs. He is a laid-back boy who especially gets excited for his leash time, happily joining other dogs on walks. Due to his past, he will need a home to give him patience to gain his trust. Once he has your trust, he will be your shadow and want nothing but love. He seems to be potty/house trained, as he will wait to use the bathroom when he gets walked. Fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped, this sweet poodle is ready to find his forever home. His adoption fee is $300. Marley weighs around 20 pounds.   Could you be the one to give him the love he deserves?  Marley is currently in Texas, but transport is available to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington, KY, or anywhere along the East Coast.
