Story
***Local adoption only: Odin needs a family in the central Florida region (Orlando area) who can commit to taking him to his final follow up appointments with PPR's vetting partners. The cost of these appointments is covered in his adoption donation.***
Hi, I’m Odin, a 2-month-old, 7-pound Aussiedoodle boy whose blindness just can’t stop me from loving life! I bring my intelligence and enthusiasm, along with the strength of my other senses, to each day’s adventures. I’m looking for a calm and patient family to teach me how to navigate and enjoy all the wonderful things life has to offer.
Favorite Things: Odin loves toys of every size, shape, and sound! He also loves food and is very food-motivated which, along with his intelligence, makes training a breeze. Given his blindness, he likes to stay close to his special person and relies on them for navigation until he acclimates to his space. He enjoys exploring the great outdoors in a secure area or on a leash.
Training & Manners: Odin is doing well with house training in his foster home but will need continued reinforcement and opportunities for regular outdoor breaks. As a puppy, he’ll need someone who is at home more often than not during his early months to help him learn to be the best boy he was meant to be. He already has good basic house manners and is learning to walk on a leash. He tolerates a car ride and sleeps soundly in the people bed.
Health & Care: Odin is heartworm negative, microchipped, and current on his vaccination schedule, but will need additional vaccines in the near future. He has follow up appointments and neuter surgery scheduled with our vet partner and his adopters must commit to taking him to these appointments, as well as to post-surgery care. The cost of the procedure and appointments is covered in his adoption donation. He’ll need monthly flea and heartworm preventatives like any dog, and his beautiful Doodle coat will need regular grooming.
Other Animals: Odin has experience with other dogs of all sizes and does best with calm, laid back pups who are less likely to startle him. Odin also does well with cats.
Children: This sweet pup would do best in a home with children ages 8+.
Ideal Home: Odin is blind, so a home without stairs or a pool is a must for him, as well as a yard with a secure fence. Once he becomes familiar with the home and with special attention paid to the safety of his surroundings, Odin can be left alone in the home for a few hours without issues.
Overall: If you live in Central Florida, are looking for a smart young pup who will steal your heart and are committed to loving and training a special needs companion, Odin may be the one for you. If you think he might be, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to fill out an adoption application. If it seems like it could be a good match, his foster family will reach out with more information. His adoption donation is $375.
