Jack is a handsome Australian Cattle Dog (also known as a Blue Heeler). He loves attention and is incredibly smart for a 1-year-old pup so a home that can provide enrichment and socialization for this breed is important. Jack is about 40lbs, but looks smaller and he has a gorgeous merle coat. He is well mannered at the shelter and goes potty outside on his walks. Volunteers enjoy walking him and he shows off his knowledge of basic commands like sit. Jack does well with most dogs after he is properly introduced to them. He is a happy pup that would do well with many types of families including those with kids. Jack is vaccinated, microchipped and will be neutered soon before going home. This sweet boy was born in the deserts of El Paso, Texas, where packs of wild dogs roam freely. Thankfully, a kind-hearted Good Samaritan rescued him and his entire litter, giving them a chance at a better life. After weeks of socialization, he and his brother made their way to Florida in search of their forever homes. He’s an affectionate, playful pup who loves to cuddle! Though initially a bit shy, once he trusts you, he’s the most loyal companion. He’s crate-trained and gets along well with other dogs, cats, and kids. However, he thrives in a home with other dogs, as he looks to them for comfort and confidence. Sadly, he has spent his entire puppyhood in rescue, waiting for the loving family he deserves. After more than a year with us, it’s time for him to experience what it truly means to have a home. Could you be the one to show him that love?
