I know I look a little nervous right now — but in my defense, I spent my whole life outside, so `indoors, air conditioning, and soft blankets` is kind of blowing my mind. New people scare me a little; I won`t pretend otherwise. But it doesn`t take long before my heart catches up with my nerves. The staff up front gave me a chance, and within a day, I was leaning into their hands, asking for belly rubs, remembering what it feels like to be loved. I`m house-trained and get along well with other dogs. I don`t need a perfect home — just a patient one. One where someone will let me take my time and stay anyway.I think that home is out there. We adopted Barkley from the animal shelter in 2021. He’s a great dog. Amazing with kids and would do great with a big back yard. He does have some anxiety so when left alone he needs to be in a crate as he will chew stuff up and bark. Unfortunately since we’ve adopted him we have had 3 kids and just don’t have the ability to give him the time he deserves.
