Story
Eds sweetest quality is he simply wants to be near his people. The second you sit down, Ed is ready to curl up beside you. He follows his humans from room to room just wanting to stay close to the people he loves. He loves with the deepest of devotion that deserves to be cherished. He is a sweet, affectionate senior with a playful side that shines brightest in the mornings, especially when his toys are nearby. He’s very food motivated and gets especially excited for mealtimes. He thoroughly enjoys short leisurely walks where he can take his time sniffing and exploring the world around him. He’s house trained, nondestructive, and sleeps soundly through the night on the sofa but would happily upgrade to sleeping in bed with his people. Ed currently lives with two canine roommates and does well with other calm and respectful dogs.

Story
Ruby came to me in Mexico a couple of years ago. I brought her back to Florida where we currently reside. She's incredibly intelligent. An amazing friend and incredibly loyal. A stub tail cattle dog, she is true to the breed. I'm relocating and sadly, I'm unable to bring her. She does need exercise. She is better off leash than on, but shes extremely smart and easily adaptable. Blue healers are great dogs and Ruby is no exception. It breaks my heart to post this, but I hope it finds someone worthy of a great little partner

Story
Meet Denali! This spirited girl is always ready for her next adventure. Whether she’s showing off her zoomies, chasing after a tennis ball, or carrying around her favorite toys, Denali thrives when she has an outlet for her energy and enthusiasm. Fetch is easily one of her favorite jobs, and she’d love a home that can keep both her body and mind active. Denali is incredibly smart and eager to learn, but she also knows how to use those smarts to her advantage. She already knows her basic commands and would greatly benefit from continued training, structure, and a confident handler who can keep her engaged and challenged. She’s friendly with people and loves being part of the action, but she would do best in a home without small children. If you’re looking for an active, fun-loving companion who will keep you smiling and be your bestie, Denali may be the perfect match! Interested in scheduling a meet and greet with Denali? Story
Meet BENTLEY 💙 (3 years old • Neutered • Heartworm negative • Fully vetted • Professional shadow) Hi. I’m BENTLEY. I’m a 3-year-old heeler with a soft heart, a loyal soul, and just enough quirks to keep life interesting. Let’s get the basics out of the way: ✔️ Neutered ✔️ Heartworm negative (been there, beat that) ✔️ Up to date on everything ✔️ Great with dogs of all sizes and ages ✔️ Cat curious but respectful (have passed outside cat tests on leash) ❌ Not safe with chickens (they move… I react… it’s a whole thing) Now that we’ve handled the résumé portion… My Personality I am what you might call a Velcro gentleman. I bond fast to my people. The ones who feed me, show me kindness, and speak gently? Those are my forever humans. I will follow you room to room like your quiet, devoted assistant. I love to lay next to you while you watch TV or work on the computer. Not in an anxious way — just in a “we’re a team, right?” kind of way. I also happen to be very fond of men (Farmer Jack is my current favorite human, but I’m open to applications). My Quirks (Because Everyone Has Them) • I’m a door bolter… in recovery. I used to think open doors were invitations to the Olympics. I’m learning impulse control and making great progress. • I “pancake.” If I think I’m in trouble, I dramatically melt onto the floor and roll over like a submissive croissant. It’s both heartbreaking and slightly theatrical. I’m learning that raised voices don’t live here anymore. • I wake up early sometimes and like to announce the sunrise. I’m working on that too. • I crate well once settled, but I prefer knowing where my people are. I’m still building confidence being alone. The Important Stuff I have a scar on my lip from a past scuffle. It’s healed, but it tells a story. Whatever my early chapters looked like, I didn’t always win. Despite that, I am gentle. Submissive. Kind. I do wonderfully with other dogs and would likely thrive with a confident canine buddy. I take cues well and don’t start drama. Heelers aren’t for everyone — we’re smart, loyal, and emotionally intense — but I’m in my mellow 3-year-old era. I’m not a wild puppy. I’m a thoughtful project dog who will absolutely blossom with someone willing to invest in me. Who I’m Looking For • A home without chickens • A secure yard (remember… former Olympic door bolter) • Someone who appreciates loyalty • Someone patient and consistent • Possibly a dog friend (or two) • A human who wants a shadow, a sidekick, and a best friend I am not a “plug and play” golden retriever. I am a loyal, slightly sensitive, incredibly devoted heeler who will bond deeply with my person. And if you’re the right person? I will be your dog. Quirks and all. 💙

Meet Blue Ridge! 🐾 Blue Ridge is our sweet, playful foster pup who’s full of life and love! Don’t let his small size fool you—he’s got big dog energy and absolutely loves romping around with larger dogs. Whether it’s a game of chase, tug-of-war, or wrestling with our three adult dogs, Blue Ridge is always ready for fun! After playtime, he’s all about the cuddles. He’s a total sweetheart who will happily curl up next to you for snuggles and naps. He’s learning quickly and can already follow simple commands—this smart pup is eager to please! Blue Ridge adores children and would thrive in a home with little ones who can match his energy and enjoy his goofy, lovable personality. But keep in mind—he’s still a puppy, which means he’s learning boundaries and needs continued gentle guidance. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion who brings joy and affection wherever he goes, Blue Ridge is your guy. 💙 If you are interested in learning more about this dog, please complete an application by visiting http://www.floridaurgentrescue.com/adopt. We start all of our adoptions with a one-week sleepover to ensure a good fit for everyone. ***Please note that we are a volunteer run organization, and due to the large volume of applications, inquiries, phone calls, emails, and messages received we may not be able to provide a personal response to every one. Good with kids, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
This is Tulsa, a 3 to 4 year old Australian Cattle Dog. She is not dog aggressive, but she can be nervous and needs a proper introduction when meeting new dogs. With patience and a slow introduction she adjusts well, although she can be a little more unsure around smaller dogs. Tulsa has never been reactive on the leash (away from the house) and can walk right past other dogs without any issues. On the leash she does great and hardly pulls unless she sees the car. She isnt formally recall trained, but she always comes when called. Tulsa is a bit timid at first, but she is very smart and still needs the mental stimulation typical for her breed. She loves running and playing in the river, although she hasnt quite mastered fetch. She is not human reactive and is very handler focused, showing interest only in her people. She would do good in a home with older children or adults only.

If you’re looking for a dog who loves fetch, cozying up in his bed, and spending his walks sniffing absolutely everything, Bucky might be your guy. Bucky is an active, incredibly goofy and smart pup who’s already put in some great work. He’s spent time with a trainer and has been living in a foster home, so his future family will have plenty of helpful tips and tricks to set everyone up for success. He walks nicely on a leash and takes his neighborhood sniffing duties very seriously. At home, Bucky is still polishing up his crate and potty training, but he’s already doing well—he sleeps through the night and relaxes when his humans are away. He is fully trained on all his basic obedience cues and even comes with a few training sessions to help you both get off on the right paw. Bucky does have a bit of an independent streak, but once he bonds with his person, his sweet side really shines. Expect tiny kisses, big booty wiggles, and a dog who chooses you as his person. With consistency and a little patience, he’ll settle into his forever home beautifully. He’s equal parts handsome and hilarious, always ready to charm you—whether it’s with a goofy face or his playful personality. Bucky is available as a foster to adopt, so whether you're his temporary or forever home, the time to reach out is NOW! Give us a call to learn more about this cutie: 904-686-1956 x4589.
