Story
Millie (vet has her as Millie Creek) is about 6 years old, utd on shots, and has been spayed. We are guessing her to be a Jack Russell/Cattle Dog mix. She weighs 25 pounds. Millie was found as a stray, and we believe that she had been on her own for quite some time. She is very shy and is not one to willingly go to people. She tolerates the other dogs but doesn't play with them. She needs a calm environment. Millie would be a great companion for a older person or couple where someone is home alot and will have the patience to work with her to help her gain trust in humans. She doesn't jump or bark and is a very quiet dog.

Story
Jack is approx 3 to 5 years old. He sees vet later this month. He appears to be English Pointer and Lab/Collie mix. Jack was a stray which showed up in Russell County, no one answered any postings. Jack weighs about 50 pounds but needs groceries and when altered and healthier he will probably weigh 60# He is great with other dogs. Cats NO. Probably no on chickens or small animals. Children over 5 at least. He is house trained and knows basic commands. Seems a bit protective of his family. His nature is very sweet and he bonds quickly to humans. Learning leash training. Vaccines and testing & neuter scheduled for March 26th.

Story
Hey y’all, I’m Kiwi! I’m a 2 1/2-year-old Heeler mix with a gorgeous reddish-brown and white coat. I’m a healthy 45-pound girl who’s been spayed and vaccinated, and I’m heartworm negative. I’m crate trained. I walk like a dream on a leash and love going for walks. I’m a big fan of children and I’m known for being super sweet and gentle. I’m not a good match for homes with other dogs or cats and need to be your only pet. I promise to fill your home with love and joy all by myself. I was surrendered by my previous owner, so I’m looking for a new family to give all my love to. I’m the kind of girl who loves attention and baby talk. I’m happiest when I’m sitting in your lap, getting belly rubs, or just being close to you. I might bark at strangers, but that’s just my way of saying hello before I roll over for some pets from them. I can be a little shy and timid at first, but once I warm up, I’m full of energy, kisses, and cuddles. I have a prey drive, true to my working dog nature, but I’m very responsive to correction. I might react to other dogs, but with some training, I know I can learn to be even better. My personality is all about being happy and carefree. I love to play, especially with kids, and I’m gentle enough not to knock anyone over. Once you meet me, you’ll see why everyone says I’m the sweetest, most loving dog ever. I love to sit up straight, tilt my head, and lay down for some good belly rubs. I’m just a big love bug looking for a family to snuggle with. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s all about love and fun, look no further. I’m Kiwi, and I can’t wait to start our life together! I’m being fostered in Burkesville, KY but can be transported to nearby states for the right home.

Story
Diamond and Ricie are Cattle Dog sisters. They were reported to GCHS as strays in the Bean Station area that had a litter of pups under a house trailer.  Upon volunteers arriving, it was determined that both sisters had had litters under the trailer within hours of each other. 19 healthy puppies approximately 48 hours old were recovered.  Jefferson City Humane Society and Blount County Humane Society assisted in fostering/rehoming moms and some of the puppies!    GCHS fostered these 5 cuties, and they are ready for adoption!  Meet Reese, Rain and their 3 brothers Roan, Riker and Ransom.  Approximate birthday 12/01/23.  Pups get along great with each other and love to run and play.  Full of energy, they are outgoing and don't shy away from people or other dogs.  Mothers were very outgoing and had a great disposition and just loved humane attention.  Puppies love it too!Out of respect for our foster’s time and privacy we do NOT arrange meet and greets without an application on file. Therefore the first step in our adoption process is to fill out the form on our website. We have one form that is printable and one that is an on-line fillable form. Our agency is ran by volunteers. We will get back to you as quickly as we can. If you have specific questions please email us at graingerhumane@yahoo.com. We do not have a shelter location with regular hours. All of our dogs are in foster homes. All dogs are fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered before adoption. https://graingercountyhumanesociety.org/available-dogsMay 1, 2024, 12:10 am
